I tried swapping my old CPU with an i7 6700k and exhibited the following symptoms:
>won't fully boot any os, throws page fault or similar errors >reboots randomly even in UEFI >reboots during memtest, sometimes quickly throws an error before rebooting >in uefi CPU and temps look good
PC worked perfectly before, have had it for almost a year, memtest and everything ran fine. If I pop in the old cpu is works fine also.
It's the only thing left to do, I suppose. I'll try it when I get to the pc.
It's skylake, you cunt.
I'm worried the CPU might be bad, is that even possible? I've never encountered a bad CPU. As far as I know it's the least likely thing to fail in any pc. Has anyone had a faulty CPU before?
Matthew Reed
Yes it is possible to have a CPU dying. It's worse than DOA CPUs.
Report back after clearing CMOS.

your cpu is fucked, RMA it
Mason Lopez
Something doesn't seem right here.
What is the new CPU and what is the old CPU?

>h110 mobo >i7 6700k why
Caleb Young
Asking the right question. Kek finally someone realizes it
Caleb Bailey
i7 6700K uses quite a bit more power than the rest of the line up, reset bios, try another PSU, or another motherboard too.
Matthew Myers
Did you also tried to check VRM temp? pairing 95W K-processor on H110 is a no-go. You should've bought z170/z270
Jayden Scott
Not OP, but according to the CPU support of this MoBo, it should work just fine.
Evan Morales
>i7 6700k Throw out this obsolete trash and buy i7 7700k
Gabriel King
Why not? I don't see any problem in that build, i've build many "low cost" i7 pairing with H110 motherboard and there's no issue or whatsoever, and guess what? Most oem pc use cheapest motherboard chipset even tho pairing it with i7 k series, check asus g11 gaming desktop, what motherboard it use? H110...

That's because most prebuilts are crap, user.
Zachary Sanchez
You put a 6700K in an H110 motherboard. Fuck I'll trade you my 6600K, not like you know what you're doing anyways.
Bentley Turner
Because OEMs target the retarded demographics with : ZOMG OVERCLOCKEABLE CPU and provide you with a shitty mobo that doesn't over clock/does it very badly.
Now, we don't believe you are a retard. No, not at all.
Anyways, clear the CMOS and update your bios. Even if your CPU is supported on the current bios, newer version might have "compatibility improvement"
See Google " i7 3770 e0 and e1 "

Semi-related, updating from an i5-2500, should I go for the 6700k or the 7700k?
Oliver Taylor
Do you watch 4k Netflix on the integrated graphics from intel ? If the answer is yes then 7700k

Is it really not worth the $20 price difference? Thinking long term
