Install something on a Linux-based OS: >type "install someprogram" >done
Installing something on Windows >find the website that your program is hosted on >download the .exe or .msi >navigate to the folder it was downloaded >double-click the installer >installer.exe is not responding >2 minutes later >license page >I agree >installer.exe is not responding >3 minutes later >next >next >uncheck the opt-out adware >I agree >next >wait for program to install >close installer >done
Why has something as simple as installing software not been perfected and streamlined on Windows, an operating system with millions of dollars of funding behind it? Meanwhile, Linux is developed by NEETs living in their parents' basement who have nothing better to do and it's still a better experience than Windows.

>>type "install someprogram" But that's not real
Ian Bennett
emerge, apt, pacman, you get the idea. Varies based on distro.
Owen Martin
Do you use screwdrivers with nails too?
Ryan Jones
He meant you can install programs with a single command, you fucking idiot. Not that that is the actual command.
Hudson Howard
> (OP) >>>type "install someprogram" >But that's not real alias install='pacman - S'
Blake Collins
The general public needs a lot of visual aid to get through something as traumatizing as installing iTunes. I like the part where a basic installer stops responding in your Windows example. Your computer must be pretty shitty.
Oliver Green
"[packagemanager] install someprogram"
happy now?
Caleb Adams
Unless the program is not on your repo
Ryan Reyes
>add repo >update >install Wow fucking hard isn't it. Oh wait I forgot most niggers are sub 80 IQ apes, sorry Tyrone.
Julian Cooper
Usually it is. OP was trying to contrast what usually happens. On windows it's never in your repos because there are none.
Owen Ramirez
but my gentoo :^(
Jordan Evans
OP was trying to troll, nothing else. "installer.exe is not responding" is not what usually happens. Anyone could make an eqully obnoxious thread about compiling from source and .exe files "just werking", but why bother.
Juan Butler
but package managers don't compile from source unless you're using gentoo
Daniel Baker
haha wendows sucks xD
David Gomez
>too retarded for windows >can still use linux jeez and i thought windows users were the dumb ones
Brandon Brooks
>compiling from source t. someone who has never used loonix
Ryder Lopez
So I'm the retarded one because the developers targeting Windows can't write an installer that doesn't segfault?
Nicholas Cooper
yes
Colton Nguyen
You missed the part where you hope what you downloaded is not malware or that the program is legit and developer didn't add spying code themselves
