I've been giving a lot of thought to making one of these into a media center for my house. Have any of you had any experience with these? It is any more than a beefed up rpi?

just get a thinkpad and make that a media center

Just get an Amazon TV and install Kodi. Jesus fucking christ why do people even bother with HTPCs any more.

We use those with low-voltage desktop i5s and SSDs. They're actually blazingly fast for what they are. Depending on the CPU and iGPU you get, it'll even be overkill for a media center.

Beware that they overheat though. I'm not so sure they have active cooling.

i got to ask why you faggots dont talk Fujitsu computers instead?

>no bloat
>reliable as fuck
>good prices
> you get both windows 7 and 10 with each computer so you can chose which one you want to install
>clean design.
>top of the line hardware if needed.

im rocking two fujitsus, one for each office i have. and seriously i have nothing bad to say about them.

i bought this a month ago.

for 350$ (cheap in Norway) and installed an ssd in it, the solutions to install hdds was amazing.

seriously i have not a single bad thing to say about fujitsu.

Because we aren't fucking idiots that blow $350 on an office computer.

Honestly we got to an age where HTPCs are no longer needed. People don't realize how capable mini-pcs are nowadays, it's a waste using one as a mere HTPC. HTPCs have been replaced by android boxes which have been replaced by chromecast and Fire stick, etc. So just get a chromecast or a Fire stick or whatever for that purpose, you'll save money, space, and you won't be wasting a good computer on a single simple task

My issue with the Amazon/Google products is the user agreement. Have you read that thing?? Straight out of 1984
The difference there though us that would look perfect on a bookshelf while the thinkpad would have to be hidden

chrome isnt as botnetty as people would think
ChromeOS is still open source under ChromiumOS, all it is, is a bastardization of a bunch of different linux components with a material desktop enviornment on top of it

Like I said, you really should read the user agreement you're okaying

literally the only time in history ive heard someone praise fujitsu

thats my point. but find a flaw. im telling you guise. they arent bad.

Not all of us are trying to hide child pornography.

keep in mind the ps2 can only read dvd and cd media, not bluray

>their shitty tv cant read latest file formats and doesnt have usb and dlna network support
>they now have to buy specialized hardware because they were autistic when making the tv purchase

For our customers client PCs, we switched from HP/Dell to Fujitsu a couple of years ago. Very worth it as HP clients have gone to shit.

Pretty much this.
Just connect your hard drive to the router and then use dlna on your TV.
I'm poor so I bought a generic TV that didn't have any extras.

The problem is, have you heard anything else?

Technically what you listed is a HTPC

Not trying to hide porn in any form. But do you really want to see yourself in 20 years at a job interview where the company has payed for your criminal background as well as your 'Google background' and can deny you a job because Google profiles you as a potential degenerate or threat to that company's standards based solely on the fact that they think you're a subversive because you used bittorrent to pirate movies decades ago? Or that you googled whatever flavor or porn you get off on and that company objects because they have conservative values?

Kek I see what you did there

pretty cute
