Let's share some mp3 players

This is my thinly veiled request for your general consensus on good value mp3 players. Having looked through a few players, they all seem decent, but I feel like I will leave that one to people more experienced. I'd like to have something that looks pretty decent with good battery life. That's about the extent of my desires, go wild with sound quality if you want.

Also, general mp3 player discussion thread, for those who may.

I have the one in the pic. Tttery lasts me around a week and the navigation is decent. The build quality is great though. I've dropped it on concrete multiple times and nothing broke or dented and it still works fine.

I have this one.

>go wild with sound quality
>mp3
Pick one.

what is it? Never understood why people start discussion threads and never name whatever the fuck product they've shared a picture of

Never understood why people don't fucking know how to google for shit. Are you fucking retarded?

mp3 players aren't really a thing anymore

just buy a cheap android smartphone

Try looking at the cowon line of mp3 players. I have an old cowon x7 that I have been using for years as my daily device.

They're all expensive as fuck.
But damn I want that Plenue

I like the sound of that. I think I'll get it, as I liked how it looks a lot plus it's cheap.

That's why it was a foot-note. To be fair, though, mp3 player is just a catch all. Most of these can do all ur "lossless subr quality audio sound noise."

Cheap smartphone for $100 or mp3 player for $30?

Actually backed up by measurements here:

Unlike 99% of DAPs, it isn't just a device that performs worse than modern smartphones in the only thing it's set out to do: play back audio. It isn't the most powerful thing out there but 1 Vrms, 0.5 ohm Zout and very low self noise is good. Battery life is long, it has a somewhat limited parametric equalizer built in, small form factor, metal construction etc.

xduoo x2 is one of the better ones you can get on a budget.

>i want your opinion but i'm too fucking lazy to tell you what i actually want your opinion on

holy shit those are expensive, it sounds great but is the difference in quality extremely noticeable or is it more of a luxury purchase? My ears don't really work

MVP

>8 Go
That's fucking low.
The raison I get an MP3 player is to not full all my Smartphone SD card with music.
I buy a used iPod Photo (2005) for 30€ (it's 30 Go).
I have rockbox on the iPod so it read every format I have (mp3, flac, ogg) (even if it's mostly mp3)
And I don't have to use Itunes or shit stuff.
I don't want to change, but when It will be broke, I don't know what I will do.

Wait for a tiny SBC with good sound output, slap oled screen, two buttons and power bank on it, you're done.

holy moly that have to be realy fucking good.
Do you connect it like an USB stick to your pc and just push music on it or is there any shity way to do it like for the iPhone
Also I don't read Ching Chong.

I have a Fiio X3. It's good shit.

All of Fiio's stuff is pretty good.

The only one that ever truly mattered, the Rio Karma, the best DAP ever made.

...

>implying that mp3 has bad sound

Literally the worst

...

looks like a convenient shape

>look up pono on youtube
>one result from linus tek tips
>the rest are porn thumbnails

They didn't really think when naming this thing huh.

Every time there's a music player thread I see a few that look really nice, but I really can't find a reason to use one when my phone does the same shit, and offers streaming.

Are these just for the "muh audio" niche?

It's for the "I want to use my phone for other shit without it running out of battery immediately" nice.
Possibly also "I'm going on vacation and don't want to be tethered to a wall socket" crowd.

My phone's battery lasts ages playing music.

Yeah but not everyone is using your phone.

I have a Clip Zip because my phone is so old it can't even play mp3. Most people here probably have phones that can play mp3s and other formats, in their case an mp3 player is smaller and lighter than a modern phone.

What is go? I just reversed image searched it I am not OP

gigabytes, it's a euro deviant

french variant to be more accurate.

It's actually superior in my opinion, differences between b and o (bit and octet) is much larger than b and B (bit and byte).

Internet providers are known for using internet speeds in megabits per second instead of megabytes per second (which is what everyone cares about) to make it appear a larger number.

In france they won't, because you will immediately notice it doesn't say 30Mo/s but 30Mb/s

And no, i'm not french.

euro deviant is accurate enough

It's not some arcane device which makes headphones sound better. Think of it as a high quality player which doesn't have any obvious caveats in design and fullfills the specifications. Could be considered a luxury product in a way as you can definitely achieve same level of performance for less and properly drive most portable headphones on much more modest specs without compromising transparency.

Despite that I think the Plenue D manages to be somewhat of a value purchase among its competition.

You can just transfer files on the internal storage over a standard USB protocol and it has a memory card slot for extra storage. I would use a card reader and a memory card for any DAP. Cowon has an English site, too.

Overpriced Toblerone, questionable use of Ayre anti-aliasing filter, poor display, poor battery life and unexceptional performance. Also Neil Young a dumb.

sorry french fag like me translate to Go, so i'm use to write Go. but GB

Hey man laugh all you want but I fucking loved my gen 1 zune. It was one of the most impression setting tech devices I've ever owned.

The embalmed faceplate and body with the subtle hint of an extra color (blue on my dark gray one, but I really like the white one with the red tint) when held off axis. The black chrome accent that encased the massive screen and comfortably shaped and sized clicky center buttons. The original GUI that felt mature and well thought out.
The fit and finish alone made me really feel like the ipod didn't stand a chance.

And equally as good were the pack in earbuds. Fabric-sleeved cables that had I had never seen before, matching black chrome accents, sublte logo on the eabuds, and a surprisingly solid feel and more than acceptable sound quality.
They were actually my first time experience earbuds as aposed to earphones, and I could never go back afterwards.

Mine came with a wonderfully robust microfiber cloth pouch with a thick, logo eblazened rubber tag that made it easy to pull out of a pocket as apposed to the ultra awkward pouch my gen 1 ipod nano came with.

And in an example of true attention to detail, the USB cable ends featured the same multi color effect as the body of the zune itself. It was a very nice cable, too. I actually still use it to charge a different zune in my car on long road trips where I lose signal.

I still used my Zune on break at work up until 2 years ago when I left it at a friend's house and never heard from him again after he was arrested for kidnapping his mom's new boyfriend while high on coke or meth, tried to shoot him, and ended up in a police chase.

I'll never stop missing that zune.

I now use my brother's old 2nd gen 80gb zune. While the increased storage space is nice, you can just tell they cut so many corners compared to the first.

I will admit the desktop software turned to shit pretty quickly, but I much preferred the first iteration over itunes at the time.

"Mp3 player" is just a generic name for "portable music player" at this point. Doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be using it to only play MP3s.
