Thanks, autism

don't have mp3s even on my phone since like 2010

>MP3
>not OGG

Vorbis or Opus ?

>2010s
>MP3

Either. They're the same at reasonably high bitrates and the slight latency difference doesn't matter for music.

i don't have enough space now.

You certain?

How many god damn songs do you have

Why? What if I don't plan on re-encoding my mp3s over and over and over to jpgrape them?

about 10,000+ with all the discographies, label downloads (the warp records one, for example) and rare japanese city-pop albums that just pop up once in flac. god bless those bored grandpas in the internet that can upload in flac.

i'm being cheap as hell and im trying to live with a 120 gb ssd for some more weeks.

ebin

If you encode a shitty mp3
That was converted from 128 from iTunes to 320
And you convert to flac does its stills shitty ?

>not using alac

>not converting to midi for ultimate compression.

yes, but it will waste more disk space

Vorbis is legitimately shit, on pair with MP3.
Opus is twice as good.

>Anime called Yuri! on Ice
>No Yuri
Disgusting Faggots

more like Yaoi! on Ice am I right

>- Export as MP3 VBR V0 when required
>Not OPUS

Pure audio you say?

>mp3
>2017
>mp3 VBR
>fucking 2017

Get you shit and get fuck out here, dumb animeposter.

Use anything besides MP3

>hating on crunchyroll anime of the year

>slight latency difference doesn't matter for music
low quality bait

Take your current year meme back to 2016, faggot

>"Encode"
>not "Steal"
>"Export as MP3 VBR V0 when required"
>not "Download from YouTube if you require garbage quality formats"

>FLAC
>not WAV
heck on outta here

I cannot hear the differences between FLAC and MP3. But I'll still do what you say, OP.

You're pretty hardcore.

How about WavPack?

I came a little bit

>Literally stealing $1000+ worth of work from artists
>Can't use that saved money to buy a $60 drive

Or -V2 (≈192kbps), or Opus @ ≈160kbps, or whatever else is transparent to you. Those quality choices are transparent in listening tests.

LAME is tuned so that -V2 is perceptually transparent for all audio that isn't on the "problem sample" list. It won't present any problems to you, even if you have bat ears for >16KHz, unless you like lots of harpsichords and castanets (in which case, try Opus because its short/long block splitting-by-frequency trick is new, and vastly superior for pre-echo avoidance).

If you don't even know what pre-echo is, or what an ABX is, or who Dibrom was, stop suggesting people use -V0. -V2 is almost always fine, and where it is not -V0 does not usually present a measurable improvement.

There are people who fail ABX with Opus at ≈96kbps, and ≈128kbps is really quite tough. It scores very well on ABC-HR. Opus is that good; but not everything plays it yet.

It is completely reasonable to archive your music in FLAC: it gives you future proofing and also allows you to encode your music to lower bitrates if you want to fit things in smaller spaces.

Go fuck yourself, piece of shit.

Just once i want to meet a girl with sailor moon hair irl

Get flipped you fucking flapper. I transcode FLAC's to GSM-AMR, print the waveform, take a shit on it, scan it back in and save as .jpg, digitize and encode it with FLAC, then upload it to your favorite hipster tracker.

>Not using 512GB SD cards for high-resolution FLAC from a dedicated mini-USB DAC

How failureprone are they?

desu this. it's like flac but with a good container. and can be played on normal computers.

>using lame to transcode mp3's
>not using the superior helix encoder
my sides... you casuals crack me up

there's like no difference between flac and mp3 v0, what's wrong with you idiots

flac is the equivalent of saving a book whole, by placing it in your bookshelf.

mp3 is the equivalent of ripping out all the pages and scan them into a single pdf and then throw away the book, because it takes up too much space.

I use ac3 because I'm not retarded enough to argue about lossless vs lossy formats and just use whatever is the best at compression.

Archives = FLAC
Shitty media players (also portable devices) = OPUS etc.

>Not spending money = gain money
Frig off

great

Youtube then, you won't be able to tell apart the youtube version and the placebo one anyways.

>ogg
>not oga

Oh yes you can.

There are a multitude of reasons, the main one being the age of the video.

I still can't draw any conclusions from this thread on which formats are best.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube#Quality_and_formats

(1) FLAC
(2) MP3 320kbps
(3) MP3 V0
(4) MP3 V2

Is the difference between 16 and 24 bits FLAC even noticable for a non-alien ear ?

>mp3
>in 2017
>when Opus, Vorbis and AAC exist

stop

just get a proper headset and you'll hear the difference.
Guess you have a Beats Studio because ""that's what they use in studios"".
kek.

Lossless: FLAC
Lossy: Opus

Ignore luddites like

Ignore this, he doesn't know what he talking about.

thanks you too

opus is for streaming, not regular files

Your retarded
