I need a laser printer replacing ink. Which one does Sup Forums recommend. What do I need to be aware of that I don't get outjewed by manufacturer scams.

Sell it and buy a 24 pin dot matrix printer from okidata.

Where I live there are no kyoceras and hardly any Oki.

Why a needle tho. What's the deal?

poo in loo and buy a toilet first

Ok they are available but not in retail.

you low tier meme poster

who is this person?

Naomi woods afaik

Brother's your Brotha'

I got the very one you posted and it is awesome.
Duplex printing, wifi printing, relatively quiet and very small

I also have this printer.

+ fairly cheap (Printer AND toner)
+ easy connection via wifi
+ good print quality for the price
+ automatic duplex printing
- tends to distribute pages over the floor when printing many pages

I got this printer for the automatic duplex functionality (pretty unique in this price class) and would buy it again.

All in all:
Good home office printer for printing a large amount of b/w pages

For whatever reason Sup Forums hated printing.

Generally speaking printers are cheap because it's sold at loss, the real money comes form the ink and planned obsolescence.
Laser printers are fast, because they use similar mechanism to copy machines, with that comes all similar issues.

Inkjet are a little bit slower, but you can refill the cartridges yourself.

IMO get HP, at least it provide GNU/Linux drivers with hplip.
Also make sure to check this

Linux support?

brother laser printers are rock solid, low maintainence, easy to refill.

>checked
Just took any pic of the net, dunno anything about this very printer

I'm just printing drafts usually 1 page not more than 10 pages. For anything bigger I would go to a copy shop. Mostly text only.

My problems with ink is that if you print only every now and then heads are getting dirty and you need to waste ink on maintenance. Printing in general is a hassle with them.

BTW I can into wangblows

Yes, using it mostly under Arch Linux with CUPS.

1. Remove the cartridges.
2. Spray small amount of window cleaner
3. Wipe with paper towel
4. ????
5. Profit.

Ok thanks. Current main problem is that you need all cartridges or else you can't print. Nowadays it's getting harder to find the individual colors so you can only buy them in pack.

Refill?

Has a refillable standing "refillable" on it or is this a hackjob anyways?

>hackjob
Mostly this.
There are some kits that do this "professionally"
Look up the cartridge number + refill.

I guess it's a hassle anyways. So what's the downside on other kind of printers. For example that nigger mentioned needle printers.

Just buy a standard b&w-laserprinter for about 80€ ($90). They are all fine.

The real scam are the color-laserprinters. Ignore them and no one will jew you

Got an HP Color Laserjet CP1215 for free from some person at the place I study at. It works, but requires a proprietary plugin on Linux (which doesn't get in the way or anything, but you need to find out which one you need, and it's not very clear). Have it for over a year now, and it hasn't run out of toner yet, even though it certainly wasn't full when I got it.

I like it much more than our HP inkjet printer/scanner/copier, but of course it doesn't do any of these fancy things.

cannot confirm. I was very surprised when mine did just fine printing some A4 almost-full-color-with-parts-of-photographs certificate thing and it didn't look shit.

what's a good scanner?

Anyone have slow printing when printing files under linux?
I think it's has something to do with postscript conversion or because the printer is using it's highest quality.
Will this
lpr -o raw -p foo bar.pdf makes any difference?
