I'll start:
>Vim
Super comfy, learned it with vimtutor, took me a morning.
>Linux
It's blazing fucking fast, configurable and comfy.
>C
I can learn programming and contribute to the Linux community with it.

That being said, can chromium/firefox support Vim style input?

There are firefox plugins that add a vim like mode.

Vimperator on firefox and vimium on chromium

>I can learn programming and contribute to the Linux community with it.
how bout you progress past babby shit first?

>That being said, can chromium/firefox support Vim style input?
Sure. Use Vimium and Pentadactyl, repsectively.

I see no reason to use vim when nano exists.

Journey of a thousand miles starts from a footstep

nano = vim in insert mode

s/Pentadactyl/Vimperator/

Pentadactyl is dead

Golang

Also a lot of Go programmers use vim because go is well integrated.

>traps
>and im not gay
yes you are user, you are just in denial like most faggots that jerk it to other dudes with huge dicks and plastic tits. But honestly it's fine, nobody gives a fuck if you want to suck cock or get fucked in the ass by some random black guy.

You have no idea how retarded you sound to people who use vim.

Not him but

>Skinny traps
>THICC girls
are the ways to go

>emacs

>I can learn programming and contribute to the Linux community with it.
Yeah, but you're not going to because you're a lazy fuck.

>That being said, can chromium/firefox support Vim style input?
vimperator

meant for

>hackintosh
The greatest meme I fell for, leaves both legitimate Applefags and PC fags confused.
>macOS itself
Best desktop OS out there, packed with features but can be dead simple when you're not pushing the OS to its limits with DNC hacking, desktop ricing and anime posting.
>iPhone
The Toyota Corolla of phones. Always latest OS, stable as fuck, great design, and fits my needs well because I've had enough fun tweaking Android. I mainly use it for calls, mail, WhatsApp and Spotify.

DNC hacking doesn't push anything to the limit.

vim is a text editor
nano is a text editor

vim, same as nano, was designed to edit config files

folks who mutilate vim and transform it into a frankenstein IDE because "muh terminal for everything" are the retarded ones

OP here.

Isn't that amazing? I mean, I can literally pull up my IDE that is Qterminal, and do anything I like with it, with less resources than any GUI based IDEs

I used to think that and maybe in small config files where you just want to make a quick edit and save it, nano is fine but vim has so many features for navigating files and editing texts thats it's better suited in most situations.

I wish I had enough skill and patience to use something like vim because I can almost physically feel how bloated PhpStorm is.

>Linux
I might switch back to Windows if I hit my head somewhere one day
>Traps & Loli
you know it's delicious
>Redis
fast as fuck
>Arch
It's darwins distro, the dumb cant use it

Whats this fag coloring? Why arent your args colored?

>It's darwins distro, the dumb cant use it

Archfags actually believe this.

$vimtutor
7
easy
lessons

Takes half an hour to learn and another half an hour to perfect with practice

you do understand that if you colorcoat everything but args then args are colorcoated by default?

Show us an install then, prove darwin wrong

>www2.geog.ucl.ac.uk/~plewis/teaching/unix/vimtutor
>muh html minimalism
>text isn't even centered

>using phpstorm

user, you fucked up

...

>Arch
>It's darwins distro, the dumb cant use it
Installing Arch + your favourite DE is literally a single terminal command that any idiot could type in. If you're saying idiots can't type shit, then you haven't been around here for very long.

No, faggot, type vimtutor in your terminal, otherwise you can't do built-in exercises

But user, I'm only writing acceptance tests in Codeception and only touch php with a very long stick.

>laptops are bad for gaming
when you are young and stupid you think it's ok to try to play games on a laptop, but it's not, it's just stupid.
>thinkpads
>arch

No, thanks, I'm good.

Idiots can't type sentences without misspelling words, how do you expect them to work the terminal?

>C

Great choice for system programming, but it has its caveats. Make sure to learn what functions are unsafe (ex. - anything that reads input into a buffer, but which doesn't do bounds checking). Known attacks can and will fuck your shit up if you don't watch out.

If you want an example of this, at Princeton University, a course is taught on system programming - COS217. If you google that, you can find the course site. They link to some nice resources concerning buffer overflow attacks and the like. Get to know that stuff well before you start any serious project.

Why is your terminal font so fucking huge?

>It's darwins distro, the dumb cant use it
that would be gentoo or linux from scratch

you're a typical inbred who thinks installing arch+i3 and ricing the fuck out of it makes you and advanced linux user

Thanks for the advice. Any books on safer C?
HTPC

>why do people have different fucking preferences than me

LFS is retarded. You're just copying and pasting commands into the terminal.

Why are you programming on an HTPC?

and arch is what? rocket science?

>64" TV
>Wireless keyboard, mouse
>Programming on a sofa
comfy

I was the first person in this thread to call arch retarded. LFS just also happens to be retarded.

cs.princeton.edu/courses/archive/fall16/cos217/

They list a bunch of good resources on system programming here (and, by extension, some decent resources on good design practice). You could either buy them or look on libgen for them.

You don't even use Vim, VStoddler

Tmux.
Unlimited "virtual desktop" power with like 5 commands you need to remember.

post those 5 commands

Was tor being a honeypot a meme?

The only way to write C

>Surface pro 4
Got lucky with mine not having any of the issues people have been harping on about (though it is of concern), was able to go paperless two semesters ago.

nu-male spotted

...

Not everyone's a hick who want their hands cut to shreds by paper cuts faggot.

>his nu-male hands get cut by papers
kek

Im trying this one

Whatever you do, don't get logitech's wireless keyboard - it's shit

Every day at work I find at least a new flaw in macOS. I just can not believe anybody can tolerate, yet like this shit OS

>DELL Ultrasharp

I fucking love mine.

>Gentoo
The only linux distribution so far that has worked for me
>SICP
Great book, even if some brainlets can't read past the first page and decide to hate it.

emacs.
Also why is your tab indentation so fucking huge

8 character tabs in C

that should always be the rule, if you have more than 3 levels of indentation your program is broken anyway

>using the terminal to edit text
is this 1970s all over again?
why can't you grow out of your autism and use a modern text editor?

When you go mac, you never go back !

>that should always be the rule, if you have more than 3 levels of indentation your program is broken anyway
lol

fuck off linus

its a unix thing

???

Yes, the only way they can catch you is by malware or by targetted bandwidth throttling.

time correlation attacks

...

how is this different from sublime text?

>Emacs
This is the text editor that I always wanted. It's basically a Lisp machine.

>Lisp
I don't ever plan on writing code for profit, as I have the money anyway, so usefulness is not a concern. So having said that, Lisp is a magical language. It reminds me of the time when I discovered Japanese.

>Gentoo
Compiling everything is pretty comfy.

>i3
Fuck yeah window tiling.

>Being free/libre
Greatest feeling.

what's wrong with it?

>arch with openrc
>i3
>thinkpad x200t
thats it folks

I'm wondering the same.

>Vimium
It's awesome. I'm looking for terminals that support Vim-like input with the possibility of modifying the config.

>i3
I absolutely love it, no moving windows around and it's moving like vim.

not proprietary

I went from nano to vim so hard my alias file has nano="vim".

It's great that once you learn to move with it, it's just four taps to move 974 lines down.

Vimtutor's worth it, really.

I edit all text files with it, it's quite simple to use. If I could open PDF's and .docx files in terminal, I'd never need anything else anymore.

>non-relative numbering

What are you, a fucking mathemagician?

When you go Mac you take it in the back

Either your baiting or you're underage

>vim
>tmux
>mpv
>git
>Thinkpads
>Model M

Touch typing but now i don't type faster than 50wpm with errors on some keys

I love you user.

>i3
you were so close.

>GNU Emacs
The extensible king of productivity and an editor with great Haskell support, great Common Lisp support and bearable support of Java.

>Stumpwm
It does everything I need out the box, and everything I want it to when I make it.

>Conkeror
I don't know JS, but this is great out of the box, and makes sure the rat stays dead

>mpd+ncmpcpp
It works great; even handles opus. Too bad I can't get HLS to work natively though.

>tmux
Really natural keybindings. Great copy/paste interface.

>Mechanical keyboards
Satisfying as fuck.

>Aeropress
Genuinely makes great coffee and is cheap as fuck to run.

>exhentai
It has CGs, cosplay and everything on nhentai.

Vim is fine without plugins, and I'm not gonna use a fucking IDE to program in erlang.

nice bait
