Hey Sup Forums, how do you find your internships. I fell for the college meme and need one.
Internships
does your college have career services? they should be able to help
this thread should probably be on /adv/ though
Know that popularity contest you thought you were finished with after high school? It's back. Hope you know a guy who knows a guy and do all the popular things that hiring managers like to hear about, because they don't give a shit about your classwork or GPA.
enjoy.
Get some connections. You need connections. A hiring manager will barely look at your resume if you post it online. You need to go in person and ask and show your enthusiasm. You know how they say a man can tell a lot by your handshake? That's mostly true.

dropout and go solo
fuck companies and fuck people wanting to work with good interesting people that they'd like to be around
You don't want to meet interesting people?
>you need connections
>show your enthusiasm
>a handshake is a good indicator of job performance
do companies realize they're actively selecting for liars, narcissists, and sociopaths?
Yeah but they don't care. People working there that look good working there build the brand
that's what Sup Forums is for
normies are not interesting
>caring about building a brand more than delivering a quality product
proving my point
>that look good working there
The office isn't something you just show off to the public. Nobody needs to care if it's full of a bunch of fat sweaty nerds.
I'm not arguing against it, that's just how it seems to be in many cases
You'd think so but a lot of companies would rather have mediocre shit produced by people that conform to their image
Thanks, I believe Sup Forums is equally adequate since it's the field I target.
Well, at that point I may as well go all the way and finish my master's degree. I'll take your pointers about going solo though, thanks.
If your grades are above average and you are still in school it should be easy. Otherwise go find one of the many guides on how to get by in this saturated job market.
So the consensus seems to be that it's better to go there and meet the man. May you Sup Forumsentlemen detail the process? Like who to meet, which sort of companies to target. I suppose I should do some shopping and learn how to dress.
Do you think websites like indeed are not viable? I was encouraged to search through every advertisement, though I don't know how I feel about that.
Many thanks to all of you for taking the time.
>got an internship
>is a bust because the boss is an asshole and won't give me cert
Now I'm left with no internship cert to show. I did have some work experience but it's from a field unrelated to mine (CS degree, grunt work for telcoms).
Am I fucked?

Don't listen to this retard.
We have people coming into our lobby every day asking for managers and directors and executives, and we just tell them to fuck off and tell them to submit their resume online.
We have an online job posting site for a reason. Stop wasting our time and fucking use it.
Its not mutually exclusive. Youre college curriculum should have involved an internship.
