>create your partition table >mount stuff >install core base >enable multilib in pacman.conf >chroot into your system >enable internet >set locale >set date >set hostname >install grub or refind >set root passwd >create user; set passwd and permissions >pacman -S DE-of-your-choice >reboot
>install core base and base-devel >grub or refind systemd-boot >DE nigga what do you need a DE for, install openbox or i3 or something and rice it yourself
Angel Barnes
I like Manjaro It's easy and I don't have to type.
Cooper Young
honestly, I have never seen people here who actually use arch say its hard to install. its mostly memesters or newfriends
Lucas Cook
> start install
> wifi doesn't work
> no ethernet port
Elijah Clark
>install arch they say sudo pacman -S freetype2 :( resolving dependencies... looking for conflicting packages... :: freetype2 and freetype2-infinality-ultimate are in conflict. Remove freetype2-infinality-ultimate? [y/N] y error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
>create your partition table >mount stuff >tar xf stage3.tar.xz >chroot into your system >install kernel >install grub >create user; set passwd and permissions >reboot >emerge -auDN --with-bdeps=y @world wow installing gentoo sure is hard!
John Campbell
Mandingo linux
Elijah Gutierrez
>nigga what do you need a DE for, install openbox or i3 or something and rice it yourself Whatever your end result is, it would still be a desktop environment.
Daniel Gray
fuck off with your third party repository problems you fucktard.
Also, learn how to -Rdd
John Johnson
installing arch: >boot up pc >go into arch install menu from usb >type cfdisk >"command not found"
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Isaac Cooper
I'll wait bohomil to get back, thanks, wine broke cause of that, is not that urgent
Jackson Wilson
You forgot to create a LUKS disk encryption
Henry Rogers
comfy infinality from last ~3 years repo, I also use yaourt's that sucks too once in a while
Hunter Baker
>If for """"some reason""""" you don't want to install pkgbrowser arch users btfo
Connor Roberts
This cracked me up.
Thank you.
Ps im no longer going to use my phone like a computer. Fuck this market op.
Also thanks for the tip on openbox and i3
Oliver Torres
>make one minor mistake >have to recompile literally everything
Hunter Jones
Use packer, it's much better than yaourt
Ryan Adams
You know, i did this but i dont remember how or where . Is this the dd of dev random into the ssd? i cant believe im not recalling
Dylan Davis
Kek speaks.
I have no idea why packer isn't a meme yet. yaourt has inexplicably arisen as the "default" AUR helper, but packer is vastly superior.
Carson Reyes
I know, and is secure, checked the wiki and installed 6 months ago but all those years at yaourt toked a token
Xavier Hall
Why the fuck you need multilib?
Samuel Sanders
Dwarf fortress
Jackson Gonzalez
why would I want systemd-boot?
Wyatt Miller
>doesn't unmount before rebooting
fucking pleb lel
Jordan Johnson
didn't you hear? infinality has been deprecated since freetype like 2.3
the only way you could get remotely close to that is if you set static-libs globally.
Owen Sanders
because your only choice on arch is systemd. So why would use use something else?
Arch isn't like Gentoo. Its not about choice, its about what the devs shove down your throat.
James Roberts
for wine you don't need to pacaur is masterrace
Hudson Rogers
>you don't need to enjoy your corrupt superblocks
Gavin Clark
Real men use only Microsoft. Don't be a beta.
Henry Mitchell
pretty sure it umounts automatically
Liam Thomas
>systemd-boot But Grub supports encrypted /boot.
Connor Parker
Now go get yourself a meal you fucking show-off.
Henry Jenkins
>fuck off with your newbie questions and problems
welcome to the arch community!
David Lee
Remind me why you'd want to have your /boot encrypted again?
Noah Gray
And still end up with an ugly DE. Why bother? One linux is as boring as another.
Kevin Campbell
small penor
Xavier Price
>the only way you could get remotely close to that is if you set static-libs globally. Or if you forgot to set ABI_X86="64 32" in make.conf.
Luis Lopez
And why would you want everything to be built as both x86_64 and x86? There is zero point.
Aiden Torres
That's not what it does. It just creates an additional 32-bit ABI for packages that support it.
Ethan Stewart
why wouldn't I use grub?
Adam Sanchez
You also need to install the other versions of font packages that infinality had replaced. It should even tell you what they are exactly in the error message. I think it's fontconfig and if you use multilib, then also all the lib32 versions
