Fucking disgusting.
Why do you insist on using deprecated non-ULV CPUs? Why not go with qt3.14 Atom X7-Z8700 instead? It does the job just fine, and has TDP of only 2W. It doesn't even require heatsink.
Explain yourself, Sup Forums. Why do you hate mobility?

>that pic

Absolutely disgusting. What's the point of making shit thinner if you are going to carry bulks external stuff because of the diminishing returns?

Who said you need to carry "bulks external stuff" every day with your laptop?
I don't think anyone ever carries a power bank on daily basis.

Companies sell Thinkpads for $300 at the very most.
Lots of people do, but they're the same people who don't charge their shit.

also there are ultraslim power banks. You don't need to get the 18650 powered one if you get so buttblasted by disproportion between these two devices

>why do you hate mobility
Because I can carry two more pounds and save $700?

My asus T100HA with x5-z8500 cpu, 4GiB of RAM and 128GB eMMC cost me $150. I don't see these $700 anywhere, desu familia

>$330
>dual-core 1.44ghz
>1280x800
>only 64gb emmc
Or I could get a refurbished Elitebook 8540w with 1.6ghz qc i7 or 2.66ghz dc i5, 1080p, 500gb hd and a fullsize keyboard for $300

>Who said you need to carry
>I don't know what >that pic means

>I don't think anyone ever carries a power bank on daily basis.

I usually see a lot of people who bring powerbanks with them, which is understandable as phones severely suffer from the "lel thinness > actually important stuff like battery life" syndrome.

>also there are ultraslim power banks

If you can cram something like that in "ultraslim" housing, you might as well put it in the device in the first place, assuming you don't create a gayman laptop tier catastrophe by fucking up.

With that being said, I don't have a thing against even more portable technology but I also value functionality. You can't do a lot with such devices considering their specs aren't adequate for anything more intensive than web browsing so it's not logical to switch to something extremely thin and small for every person out there.

That picture makes me really sad.

While tech is getting better people are pushing that "muh thinness" so hard that they are making battery life fucking dogshit.

Why would I?
8540w is much, much bigger. It's noisy as fuck (it has a fucking fan!), it's thick as motherfucker and it lasts on battery power for like 2 hours of actual work.
It has no touch input, it's heavier than your mom's asshole and it generates lots of heat.
You can't charge it on the go ANYWHERE, including your car, plane, woods (thanks to the glorious power bank technology we had back in 2005!)
And it's a fact that almost nobody needs 45W qc i7, 500GB HDD and other shit to just browse the internet, streaming music and movies from the internet and sometimes do some coding remotely on your company servers.
Check your facts, m8.

You're right if people depend on power banks every single day. This is dumb as fuck.
What I'm talking about is the possibility of taking a power bank, or two or three and actually go out for days with your laptop/phone always charged.
Since when ultramobile netbooks/tablets have dogshit battery life?
My $150 t100ha lasts for 18 hours of browsing the internet with 30% screen brightness. That's not dogshit-tier battery life, r-right?

It's fan isn't noisy. You don't go "muh productivity" and then use a fucking toy that isn't plugged in. Literally anyone doing productive work has their fucking plug and uses it because they need the power and versatility of a full-size laptop.

No touch input because you get fucking grease on it which obscures your WORK. You use an inverter in your car you fuckwit. Normal adults have one.

but we're talking about daily use, not your meme productivity use, retard.
You're supposed to be productive during your work hours, and that's when you laptop provided by your company, retard. Unless you're an autistic underage linuxfag who thinks ricing his anime desktop on the go is considered as productive.
Go on, define productivity.

when you use*

because phones already solved the ultraportable ultraweak shitposting machine market there's no point to get a laptop unless you can do something on it you can't do on a tablet
The new MacBook Pro is literally a tablet with a non-removable keyboard
Am I right?

No, you're wrong.
Watching movies, gayming, shitposting on Sup Forums and running desktop software on a phone is autism. You don't do that on your phone, user.

You can do that on a tablet
Besides he's focusing on the ultra low power market, phones handle that easily and you can attach portable displays to your phone. The point remains that phones have the power of a macbook, and are much much more portable

Why would you get the toy tablet in the first place then? Programming, compiling and browsing references, watching videos, skyping and shit is all daily work. With your toy you can't do any of that shit comfortably, let alone in high-def. You can't even Skype without installing another driver because Windows fucks everything up. And yeah, enjoy your botnet and broken updates while I'm developing Android applications on Linux with plenty of space for all the testing files.

>year of ultramobile laptops being charged via USB with possibility of charging via power banks
Could you post any examples?

No trolling I'm genuinely interested as this is cool as fuck.

You can do the same gaymen on a new MacBook as you can on an iphone

MacBook is the only laptop with such shit tier performance that USB can supply all the wattage needed to charge

>You're right if people depend on power banks every single day. This is dumb as fuck.

Have you gone outside in the near past? I see people who ask others for powerbanks/chargers almost daily. Battery life is an actual problem for most people since your average smartphone user doesn't run AOSP/CM and has a shit ton of useless stuff running in the background.

>18 hours of browsing the internet with 30% screen brightness
>internet browsing at %30 brightness

Top fucking kek. Who would have guessed that batteries don't discharge as quickly when you do less intensive stuff? Try doing some real work on that with the brightness set at a reasonable level and see what happens, it not like performance is a redeeming quality anyway. By the way the effect of thinness over battery life is much more prominent at phones.

>2017
>year of Linux desktop
>retards still use disgusting as fuck Windoze 10: Now with more Telemetryâ„¢

I Shiggy Diggy Doo

because mobility doesn't always pay the bills. It can. if you're like a webdev or some sissy

>inb4 b-but it's not meant to he used for that

Hey, some people have back disorders. That's literally why my brother got his ultrabook and not a desktop replacement. He still used his desktop 90% of the time I think because using his ultrabook on the couch just isn't ergonomic for programming. He browsed documents and stuff on his ultra at work though I'm sure. Developers developers developers developers!

Uhm, any tablet on the market and any USB 2A power bank?
Like pic rel + ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1JvUTIpXXXXckXFXXq6xXFXXX0/18650-power-bank-box-battery-case-external-charger-DIY-box-high-capacity-power-bank-for-cellphones.jpg
filled with 5 3000mAh 18650 cells gives you the total battery life of 54 hours of typical browsing the internet.

It's about home, private use, user. Nobody gives a shit about work you're doing on your company laptop.

why do i need an ultrabook at home? I'm not a fag wafting about from the veranda to the kitchen for more wine livestreaming on facefriend

why would you need a desktop computer or a thick laptop to watch your favorite anime featuring your waifu?
You can do that on a ultrabook and not give a fuck about having it connected to the power outlet

because muh gaymes?

...

You can do that shit on your phone. If you want a bigger screen LITERALLY 10 year old $100 thinkpads have a 1280x800 screen and can play 720p. Pay $150 and you could do HD at higher resolution.

>m-muh cord
shoo shill

>not liking 10" netbooks/convertible tablets
I bet you also hate UMPCs and handhelds

You're a virgin and you're going to die alone

>comparing THIS to a cumstained 10 year old thinkpad with 20 times bigger power consumption
I'm puking right now
I bet you still use sandy bridge cpu

Bought a X220 for $120. Can you get a modern quality laptop for that price? New or Used (Good condition)

They are thin pieces of shit anyways.

>you don't want to be a manchild like myself so you're a virgin and you're going to die alone
Nice meme, now get back to cs:go matchmaking with your russian underage friends.

Not everyone's gay dude. Some like it thick. Does your thing even HAVE video out? Can it even fucking boot from usb? I even have two hard drives in mine.

>video out
of course, it's called HDMI today.
>boot from USB
of course, that's why it has a full USB port in the keyboard.
>two hard drives
yeah, and I got a system eMMC, 128GB mSD card and 20TB remote share via samba.
Also why would you ever need two hard drives in your laptop? Too poor to get a 2TB SSD which at least doesn't generate any noise?

What about the sound quality? I've heard it has junk speakers.

it does have junk speakers, like every tablet on the market.

I separate my Linux and Windows (7) installs. You don't have to be so upset I get much better performance, features, and ergonomics for a lesser price.

>waah why do you do actual stuff on your laptop

You can also separate your Linux and Windows installs on a tablet. Nothing stops you from installing any OS you want on it.
>better performance
Ok, if you require lots and lots of resources then a tablet is not for you. Right
>features
What.
>ergonomics
>lesser price
>thinkpad
Do you enjoy your cumstained keyboard? Kek.

>actual stuff
define
>actual stuff requiring two hard drives
as above, define

>that post

Atom is still noticeable shit, Core M where its at and Core M laptops are too expensive for the average Sup Forums poorfag.

>are you too poor to spend $600 on a 2 TB SSD?

sure, that's it, too "poor", lel

Separate. As in on physically separate drives. Not being cucked by 128gb is nice too.

>features
Like driver support for Win7 (lol @windows) and Linux.

Do you enjoy holding up your tablet and getting cum all over the screen while flipping pages with your filthy hands like some sort of monkey?

Also, even if the keyboard gets cumstained, it's a $15 replacement. Enjoy trying to find the bottom of your (((ultrabook))) for

>have both an SSD and a HDD (caddy) nn your laptop
>store programs and OS on the SSD and store files/projects on the HDD

There, you seem to forget that you can use a laptop the same way you use a desktop, you aren't limited to a single lightweight use case.

>then a tablet is not for you.

You seem to forget that not everyone wants a shit tablet replacement that is going to suck at the only thing it can do without slowdowns, web browsing, in two or three years.

Linux fully supports all intel platforms. What's the problem?
>windows 7
>not 8.1 or 10 master race
Kek

>posting cartoon grills will surely prove him wrong

Again, why ever use HDD? Are you poor?
>You seem to forget
No, I don't forget anything. I just told you if you really need more resources then a tablet isn't for you.
Although we should both agree most people on Sup Forums require 4GB RAM and dual core c2d at most to browse Sup Forums, watch porn, post stupid shit on facebook and watch movies.

>using hdds in mobile devices
my autism detector is peaking

He's not wrong though. It's really retarded to say "well it's more portable" and then be like "but you have to have xyz to get features". Like Apple's Jewery with needing an adapter to charge and use anything else

Topkek, you don't know much about USB-C, do you? Most laptops use it for charging since 2016.

>spend money on things you don't need
>not investing
Read a book called The Richest Man in Babylon

Ultralight memes aside, what's the cheapest laptop with USB C charging?
Fuck laptop chargers, I want C chargers on everything.

Kek kid. This entire thread is literally made because I sold my old T430 for $800 to some retard and got a $150 convertible tablet instead.
And the money I got is already invested

>Are you poor

No, I'm simply aware of the fact that I don't need an SSD to store files such as videos and that upgrading from a 240GB SSD + 750GB HDD setup to a single 2TB SSD isn't that logical since I don't really have anything to gain. Not wasting money on stuff you don't have a use for != being poor.

>Although we should both agree most people on Sup Forums require 4GB RAM and dual core c2d at most to browse Sup Forums, watch porn, post stupid shit on facebook and watch movies.

I agree, but you seem to miss my point. Slim, low end and thin machines with good battery life are perfectly suitable for lightweight tasks such as browsing but there are people who need both portability and power. So those thin ones can't really replace the bulkier ones in every scenario out there. We're both saying pretty much the same things.

The concept that it is not possible to charge a laptop with a portable charge thanks to usb-c has absolutely nothing to do with apple or any kind of underpowered laptop with any battery size, completely irrelevant.

*now possible, whoops.

That's reassuring.

real laptops have ports

This is a troll, but here's a serious reply in case someone is influenced by him:

passively cooled CPUs,
Kinda neat but they're still weak and thermals isnt a problem with something well made.
touch screens,
meme
guaranteed all-day battery life
Not at all, when you're taxing them.

>Why do you insist on using deprecated non-ULV CPUs
They're 1/10th of the price and the only downside is a bit of bulk.
>Why not go with qt3.14 Atom X7-Z8700 instead
I have one, slow as shit compared to i5 2520

> Why do you hate mobility?
Im not a gay twink/ frail woman. I can carry 500g more and the extra space is negligible.

>buy an SSD to upgrade laptop
>take existing HDD out, put it in a caddy and replace unused ODD with it

I get that HDDs and portable devices don't go well due to vibrations and such but I carry my laptop carefully so the HDD doesn't have any reallocated sectors despite 8074 power on hours.

Try running a business with that mentality, it's normal that someone ,who probably either still uses mommy's credit card or doesn't have a lot of money due to being a birger flipper, doesn't know jack shit about managing money. Let's say that I bought a donglebook, which is something I don't need. As I won't be able to sell it for the price I bought it for in the future, it's a loss in long term. The same goes for that 2TB SSD and by the time I will actually need 2TB of solid state storage, I will be able to buy a disk that's bigger and cheaper too. We are talking about computer parts not real estate.

>It's really retarded to say "well it's more portable" and then be like "but you have to have xyz to get features". Like Apple's

Read again. I'm saying the same thing. Thinness isn't a valid reason to remove necessary features.

> cumstained keyboard
Ad hominem != argument, faggot. You lost, have a nice day.

>implying your thinkpad keyboard isn't cumstained
get real, bro. Most men jerk off. The probability of having a cumstained keyboard in a used manly laptop is extremely high.

>posted a picture of applel product just because it was the first entry on google image
>retards discussing applel products
You missed the point of this thread. Congrats

sorry i was in a match. you post something, manlet?

yes, I insulted your mother and called you fag

At least it's not my faggot boyfriend's cum, unlike on your KB :^)

>touch screens
>a good thing on a laptop
Pick one

>thread is about extremely thin devices
>point out the diminishing returns of increasing thinness
>hurr durr no relevant huehue

Learn to read, autist

At least I'm white and I'm not a virgin :^)
And yes, I love my boyfriend.

Because the laptop sucks dick
Want ultra portable thinness? Get the new x1 carbon, which charges over USB C and has 16 hours of battery life while weighing 2.5lbs

Otherwise any T or X series with over 8 hours of battery life is good for a whole business day, and you don't need anything other than the machine itself to use it properly

Look at this pathetic creature that had to resort to taking it up the ass because it's too ugly to find a female. Also I bet my nut I'm whiter than you.

>45W power required to charge x1c through usb-c
no thanks

Is that for real?

It means it's an actual laptop meant for actual work besides Facebook and shitposting

>memeees XDDDD

>actual work
define
If you talk about the work you're supposed to do on a laptop provided by your company then it doesn't apply to this thread.

> plebbit tier baiting

How am I baiting?
You're the only homophobic republican cuck in this thread who talks shit about homosexuals.
This thread is about technology, not your retarded point of view

Keep crying, I'm not even a burger. And watch out for Mike "AC/DC for LGBT" Pence, faggot.

dude, if i have to carry a powerbank for charging a fucking gimped shit, im better off just carrying a spare battery

>he thinks a mobile 15W core i5/i7 in x1c can do anything a core m laptop can't

Also obviously it's real, it's a technology board and still so few people here know shit about usb-c? Every standard cable usb-c can charge a 60W laptop and 100W is the overall limit.

>have to
No, I don't have to. But I can.
Can you?

no, i have the battery slice. muh 12 hour battery life on a non gimped CPU

>12 hour battery
Kek. Maybe 12 hours of idle with screen on.
Try to load it with 1080p youtube stream. :^)

>idle
could get easily 24 hours with that user.

what laptop?

X220+Extended Battery+Battery Slice
Linux TLP+Aggressive profile

Did you reply to the wrong person? You literally said nothing that is in disagreement with what I posted (The Richest Man in Babylon)

according to notebookcheck x220 in standard i5+ssd config lasts on 9cell battery for 6,5 hours of typical internet browsing. Combined with 6cell slice I bet it lasts for 12 hours at most.
Your 24hours battery life is a meme and you fell for it.
also
>charging your battery to 100%
>ever
Enjoy your faster wear
also
>discharging slice battery to 0%
>ever
Enjoy your even faster wear.
If you count both batteries charged to 90% max and both discharged to 5% max it should last 10 hours at most, but only during browsing the internet.

you said idle, user.
i respond 24 h on idle.

>4 weak cores instead of 2 strong ones
disgusting

>12 hours of light internet browsing on 15 cell 12V battery packs
is that supposed to be impressive?
I bet your cumstained x220 weights 4 times more than a surface pro
