Lubuntu is solid and breathed a couple more years of life into a shitty laptop

they said liquid cooling was no good

i get sub-60 degrees under load from a 6700k from an h100i

I bought a Thinkpad. I actually really like it.

install arch meme

Arch linux is really nice.
I'm incredibly effective in vim.
Haskell is fun.
Wearing a dress really does help me code faster.

Never, I bought a Mac

Linux/BSD

About to fall for the SSD meme, wish me luck

Me too. x220 is tiny and portable, prefect for lugging around campus all day and didn't cost all that much.

It's 2017, I think the jury's out that SSDs are a good idea

They said bitcoin was going to be worth alot.

Psht! Not listenting to Sup Forums. Wait, what?! Fuuuuu.... could have been a millionaire.

But you're Sup Forums

Bought a clip+ years back

Bought a memechanical keyboard

I didn't kill myself. So far that has turned out pretty well.

'Fuck off to Sup Forums' worked pretty well...

Though it did take a moment to config to a comfy level.

Linux, Thinkpads and /csg/. Had a lot of fun with the latter.

I had 30 bitcoin from mining when it was a fraction of a penny... Hard drive crashed, next time I looked it was $1000+ and I found out there was no backup of my wallet.. Could have been my down payment on a house

Memes I fell for that turned out great:

And probably more. Memes I'm about to fall for:

Memes I fell for that didn't turn out great:

>Android without GAPPs

How do you guys do it. I can't live without GAPPs and so many things that rely on Google Play Services. I still run CM (or LineageOS I guess now) and I use Newpipe and a few things from F-Droid but I need muh GAPPs.

Thank Sup Forums

The only time I ever listened to Sup Forums was in buying a thinkpad W510 and later a X200.
Pretty good, the former was an insane 4 core, 8 thread beast with dedicated workstation GPU and 1080p display for £300 or something, literally the sexiest and coolest laptop I've owned. The latter a bog standard shittop that was £80 and took me though hard times fine.

I wish I still had a 510, it was fucking hotttt

If it only was a little easier to make GUI's for python..

>complain about router being too slow to handle 2000 torrents

I feel like I jumped 15 years into the future in one single leap.

Bought a T23 in 2006 for cheap and I loved it.

Erm....Hitler did nothing wrong?

I brought a business class laptop, slapped an SSD and second SSD bay in it. Best £150 I've spent in a while.

>Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro are a solid set of cans

Can confirm. First time I actually spent decent money. Would recommend

Took advice on an A8-7600 APU build. Now I'm able to play BF4 on medium 720p settings and get 50-60 FPS. It only cost me $250.

>lugging around campus all day
not with that battery life you don't

Bought Sennheiser HD 380.
Installed GNU/Linux.
Bought T420.
Paid attention when we learned C.
Forsook the path of nonfree software.

Reading the thread I realized there is more.

My person of African descent. I bought one for my first compact build. So far it has been breddy gud.

I didn't listen to g on installing manjaro but i did install i3 after using xfce for a year and it was good.

Guilty on many of those. I3 is pretty comfy. Cm nased roms or any stock without gapps really. Fdroid and clover are installs too. Kek

Yeah it's pretty underatted. Though I plan to slap in an Rx 460 later on. Heard you might be able to OC this thing through base too so might do that as well.

>battery life
This. Do not listen to neets and weebs. Do not fall for the x220/x230 meme. I did for a whole year. Even with a new battery I was getting dismal run time. My life was spent either close to an outlet or looking for one. I did get a newer Thinkpad Yoga and it's been pretty good though. Thinkpads are good, just not the old shit they seem to recommend here.

Always thought Laptops are a steaming pile of crap.
Lifestyle changed and so I needed one...

Fell for the Thinkpad X230 meme. Outstanding price/performance and really solid.

About to fall for ultrawide qhd meme worth $600. Wish me luck.

Sup Forums brought the fact that most major carriers had rolled out IPv6 to my attention. I enjoyed learning about it and rolling it out on my home network, then at my company's network, which impressed the partners and got us some good sales credibility.

sounds worse than my mobo, I prefer having highs and lows, thank you very much, if I want a lack of both, I just listen to my 30 year old vinyl records

>buy a memechanical keyboard /mkg/
sounds like shit, feels like shit, maybe I shouldn't have bought one with switches the color of shit, so this one is on me

>buy stew dee oh monitors /bst/
Most boring sound I've ever fucking heard. I want soft, silky highs and dynamic, lively bass, not almost shrieking, unpleasant, overcomplicated highs and nearly non-existent complexity, intensity and dynamism in the low range!

I'll never listen to any of your "advice" ever again!

Never happened. This forum isn't total shit, but it has too low a number of people that know what they're talking about.

The misinformation here is often insane.

I'm guessing most people here are tech enthusiasts in so far as that they keep track of cool consumer tech and know how to jazz up their home screens on their phones. These same users totally swamp all conversations about browser, OS and net security and calls secure stuff 'botnets' while peddling broken half-baked software 'made by Sup Forums'.

umatrix. I can't believe I was using noscript with its shit interface and donation nag screens for so long.

>i3
now I'm pissed when I don't have tiling or see people's shitty floating windows in desktop threads

I fell for the ssd meme, just like a lot of people here

really good meme

I bought a mouse mat after seeing someone in a BST thread with one and love it.

I don't know if that counts.

Instole gen2

Hasn't happened yet...

I GOT A RX 480

mpv, at first I was skeptical but it turned out good, is a nice video player with nice keybindings

ODROID C2, my god this is magic! Consumerism really pay off with this. Is fucking fast and now hosts my server. Do try this user, do try.

>Reading the thread I realized there is more.
Me too, but I'll just let other people mention them.

Okay, SSD's are fast, I know that because I bought an eMMC for my odroid c2.

Time to buy an SSD for all my computers I guess.

Linux and chink hardware is one thing, but 16gb of ram, a nice keyboard, and some nice monitors? Just sounds like some nice hardware to me.

8gb is fine fore now, though in a year or two it will start to really bottle neck enthusiasts. You won't have to replace your ram for ages.

Mech Keybaords are about the feel, they feel different and most people find them much nicer to type on, if you got one that was too noisy for you it's completely your fault.

Also if you can't find uses for multiple monitors you're just plain pants on head retarded. My mother uses two monitors and she just recently discovered you can resize windows within many programs.

It's not hard to check new shit from time to time and fine useful crap around the huge mounds of shit that get posted daily.

that time I didn't buy an AMD graphics card

How'd you mount the radiator? What's your case and fan config? I'm using an S340 Elite and I have the H100i set as my front intake and I'm getting 80° under load and 100° with a burn test. Teach me wise one.
