Seems like an obvious move. AMD execs want their product to be as accessible to as many people (and companies/organizations) as possible and avoiding Windows 7 users who make up the majority of the OS market wouldn't help.

actually i7 7700k even if you oc it to 4.8ghz from 4.5ghz it doesn't mean shit it only increase fps by 0-3. Digital Foundry said 5ghz is never worth it and most likely people should just not oc it at all since temps/watt usage from higher volt is not worth adding 0-3fps. I just hope 4c+8ht will oc to 4.5ghz with having 95-99% of perf of i7, that's all i want.

If you install newer Intel processors on win7 it wouldn't support all of the available instruction set extensions. Kinda like installing 32bit windows on a processor that supports 64bit. It should work it just wouldn't give you all of the functionality that you paid for.

Instruction set usage is in no relation with drivers. CPU will execute whatever you will throw at it if it is supported.

The only stuff that will probably not work is integrated USB conntrollers, graphics etc. So my question is which of those integrated things are missing pre-w10 drivers? And I mean completely missing, not just "you have to dowload them from different sites insted of getting them with OS/via MS Updater".

Looks like the biggest source of irritation is the USB controller. The windows 7 installer image apparently doesn't have the driver required for the controller so you have to provide one. You can install from disc though.

JayzTwoShills was able to get a 7700k working with Win7. It did have a few issues though during install but he got it running near 5.0ghz

Thats a huge load I'm not getting because my host OS needs resources to run itself. That's cpu cores and ram I'm not gonna get and my system doesn't even support a hackintosh well enough to work

LTSB is long term service branch. It has all the same telemetry (botnet) but little of the bloatware & no cortana that the main editions have.

You mean like not having software and drivers out of the box? Windows 7 is completely unusable by default.

Out of the box it has absolutely nothing in terms of media playback or media server and probably some other shit. You'll have to install a manual update to add back media player if you want to play HTML5 video on some sites (like vimeo) for reasons I still don't understand (but assume are DRM based)

Windows 7 actually tends to work pretty well out of the box except for like GPU drivers and maybe wireless card drivers if your chipset manufacturer is a dick like broadcom. Those issues mostly apply to linux as well though.

If you want to watch any video at all you need to install a codec pack, so just don't get the N version. Only retards recommend it.
