Are you healthy, G

Have you ever been worried about your health (hand, wrist, shoulder, back) problems thanks to your job? I'm 18 and i think i'm starting to develop Hand Osteoarthritis cos i've spent my entire life typing in the front of a computer, now if i'll spend the rest of my life working with a keyboard i think my hands wont get past 40

yea nah

hard labor does more damage to your body, hand Osteoarthritis is common there

Thus, osteoarthritis which appears in elderly people is due to an accumulation of microtrauma. It is for this reason that certain people more exposed than others to various specific microtrauma develop osteoarthritis quite early.

Microtrauma more readily encountered in the workplace includes:

Mechanical vibrations and shocks transmitted by certain machine tools and objects

my hands just feel tired all the time and i jus keep cracking them (i actually dont know how to crack my knuckles i just put pressure on them a bit)

my knuckles r like old dead skin. i wish they were nice like a childs again

i worry about my back.
gotta compensate with sports. sometimes i have too much shit going on, so i skip it. my back thanks me every time after 2-3 weeks

Guess i gotta see a doctor, considering that my hobby is in a computer and my work will also be, it worries me

compensation is all you need to establish.
well and a good chair.

i once used a buffer machine to polish stainless steel. it took me 2 weeks on that project. mon-fri 8 hours a day.
>pic related the grade of s/s
My entire left (or right?) arm from the forearm down was numb. Due to the vibration of the buffer. I was stupid and didn't take any precautions. So I chucked on my welding gloves as a padding and to make sure to not use it continuously without breaks.

I feel i've lost grip strength and my knuckle joints feel weak? with the urge to crack them all the time. But I reckon its inevitable in my line of work, my body aches all over good excuse to go and get a happy ending

Haven't gone to the doctors about it. Atm I make sure to do hand exercises to see with i can recover my grip strength.

People say cracking your knuckles can fuck you over later on, does this hold any truth?

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past.

just go see a fucking doctor, are you too proud or too scared?

about the cracking, I've seen a couple articles saying it has absolutely no effect even after decades

Outside obesity and poor eyesight (corrected by eyewear) I'm perfectly healthy.

LOL at people who get sick all the time, it's probably because they try to be TOO clean. I never wash my hands before I eat yet I never get sick compared to my mom who gets sick like once a week

Work: I am completely aware I'll probably get carpal tunnel, and I've just accepted it at this point.

Personal: I've broken a finger and my hand twice due to the fact that I used to fight competitively. My fifth metacarpal isn't straight anymore and if I make a fist it looks like that knuckle is missing. I also heat my house with wood and gather the wood myself. Eventually I'll cut myself with the chainsaw or miss the log with the axe and impale it in my leg. Let's see what happens!

Kek, subtle satire, very good.

Posture posture posture posture.

Seriously guys.
I am erratic, ive been through all sorts of phases.
Always Sup Forums and /diy/ at heart. Some months I wouldnt leave my computer, some months ill be out doing hard labor working with a buddy on a farm. Always conflicted because I love building and tinkering which bodes well on both fronts.

Had decided to get a job in the trades, learned to weld and shit.
I blew out a disk in my lower neck being fucking stupid and dangerous while working on a car.
Its been 3 years, still debilitating, still havent recovered enough to go back to school for some sort of Sup Forums job. Turned me NEET and it makes long hours on the PC difficult. But my body will never be able to do a trade anymore so its my only choice.

Buy a good chair
Keep your back and neck in good shape. Proper posture all day every day.
I understand how people with neck and back problems fall into opiate abuse, and when they are cut off fall into heroin addiction.

Thank god I can be NEET, if I were forced to work like this id be gobbling up any painkillers I could to make it through the day

I have some kind of a blood circulation condition that makes sleeping uncomfortable because I faint, and in general it reduces my intelligence and interrupts my thoughts. Not sure that I'm gonna make it through as a Sup Forumsentooman because I can't do that with a crippled mind anymore.

perfectly healthy

you might have something going on other than simple osteoarthritis, so go see a doctor

OA can appear in any age group and it is not due only to microtrauma

you may have shortened muscles, mostly like the wrist and finger extensors

>compensate with sports
a good solution

>lost grip strength
strength is a product of an equilibrium between muscles; an apparent loss of strength can occur when one muscle won't elongate when its counterpart muscle attempts to contract; try a hand-wrist stretching routine for a week

c'mon, man

cracking knuckles usually won't damage anything unless there is something else going on like rheumatism

gross

carpal tunnel is avoidable; the "missing knuckle" can be repaired

there are plenty of trades you can do without damaging your neck further

this, got a trapped nerve in the lower back, went to doctors, was told
>it's muscle pain, lel
>muscle pain
>for 4 months
just smoking weed everyday, I'm getting by for now, who knows what happens later :^)

I've been spending countless hours behind the computer in the last 30 years. And I don't feel a thing.

But I should work on my posture just in case I guess.

I typed so fast I broke a finger

I'm constantly worried about my health. I smoke too many cigarettes, too much weed and spend way too much time buried in code.
On one project I was up for 30 hours straight. My eyes bled a little from looking at the screen so long.

I've been underweight and technically malnourished my whole life. I'm 6' and 125lbs.

Fml famalamadindong dead at 40.

Gain a fucking weight and look for other career.

I've been trying for years to gain weight.
I eat 6 meals a day all of which are 3 courses. I've been in food therapy for years now. For some reason I just can't keep the weight on no matter what I eat.

I'm making 75k/yr. where I'm at working about 2 weeks out of the month at the most. Knockout a project in a couple days spend the rest of the month collecting my pay.

Drink your milk kid

Been on the computer typing since I was 6 (when I got my Commodore 64). I'm 30 now and my hands are just fine still.

Quit smoking all those cancer sticks and reefer and eat for once and you'll gain weight. You have no one to blame for being "malnourished" other than yourself.

I have a very weird typing style that can cause me pain if I type at my top speed for too long, and my hands are fine as far as I know. I find it hard to believe that at 18 your hands would be worse off than mine. It is certainly possible, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Perhaps consider getting a mechanical and/or ergonomic keyboard. Maybe also try dvorak or colemak.

What's your shit excuse for not going to the gym?

>eat for once
What about 6 3 course meals a day do you not understand?
I smoke a bone, raid the fridge, cook a meal and code.

I eat enough I'm just naturally small and don't gain or lose weight easily.

>I never wash my hands before I eat yet I never get sick compared to my mom who gets sick like once a week
you are getting your mom sick you fucking asshole

after all she has done for you... you should be ashamed

I don't even touch her, lol

I want to die

Do you have a chair? Then you don't need a gym to stay fit.

Weekdays: Walk ten miles every day. Your metabolism depends on it.
Saturday: Free exercises, squats, push-ups, crunches.
Sunday: Rest.

Okay, you may need a pair of decent shoes aswell.

I can agree with the CT, but as for the knuckle it cannot. While it was broken, the Dr's literally pulled it straight and tried to align it as best they could. When they sent me to therapy, they said if I broke it a few more times, it won't properly heal, if it completely heals at all. It doesn't hurt or anything, its just one of those things you just live with.

didn't you fucking ever exercised???

Just change your habits.
>get your posture right, or optionally get a standing desk
>make it so your wrists are always kept straight
>get a low profile keyboard, don't listen to /mkg/ cucks telling you to go mechanical or microsoft natural (the latter is a useless gimmick)
>if you are using mouse often, get a large surface and stop bending your wrist, setting mouse sensitivity to low can also help
>optionally, swap ctrl and caps if you use ctrl a lot

>Walk ten miles every day
That's 2.5 hours of walking.

yep, get wrist pains a lot now, should get that checked desu

ten miles is a lot to walk every day, here's how much I walked on what was probably a 13-15 hour work day being on my feet the whole time lol

I mean you can just run for less time and distance with the same result to your metabolism

>wrist and finger extensors
what does that mean? am i fucked forever? how do i fix it

OP here
Nope, i do push ups/pull ups but doubt that has anything to do, it's most likely down to typing/clicking with the mouse

Used to have back/neck problems alongside with carpial tunel symptoms but it's not anything related, fixed my posture and started excercising and it went away, but this time it's merely on the hands, like when i make a fist both of my hands pop, and my knucles feel rather weird, like out of place, rusty, and i get that discomfort when i'm typing, will look further into it, maybe it's just something related to the way i type, if not i will see an specialist

Your hand looks like an albino bat minus the wing webbing. Go outside, jesus.

that's some Auschwitz shit right there

ayy lmao

keyboard
guitar
bicycle

I started working out this year and doing plenty of flexibility and yoga excercises and I feel fucking great. I think it's imperative that everyone do this shit so they can live a long life without becoming a stiff board.
