I just drop everything in the "Pictures" folder and call it a day (except for a few comics which are separate).

Whenever I take pictures I save them to a folder with the date and a brief description (ie. Hiking-With-Friends_2016-03-21). The image editing software I use lets me apply tags to my software to easily search through them in the future.

I don't save images, whenever I need an image I just google it and copypaste it straight from google image search into wherever I need.

these are about 60% anime girl images

this is kinda becoming a problem because there is no possible way I could ever go through this and organize it

I'm also using Hydrus. The only thing that kinda scales is pulling and sharing tags from other people and the *boorus and other image services.

Tags already existed and exist on Linux.

You still might want Hydrus, too. Shared tags are best tags.

The kernel itself does not have too much related to file tagging I guess.

KDE had an integrated tagging system since 4 and again has in 5, and there are a bunch of other solutions.

Technology = Sup Forums related imaged
Reaction = reaction images

Took a screenshot of KDE5 in a VM. Two tagged folders showing up in a view resulting from filtering on a tag.

Information sidebar shows all tags and rating on tagged "Desktop" folder.

This must count for Linux having tags.

I organize my images by purpose
In my home directory i have a pictures folder where i save all my private pictures like family pictures, hentai and porn pictures
And then i have an extra Internet folder where i have a Sup Forums subdirectory where i save Anime pictures, Memes, Pepes and Wojaks and stuff i posted on Internet sites
