mysql how to insert a null value into a table value? I have to insert 2 values into a table, but it might be a null, also the first value cant be duplicate, and cant be null(that mart is fixed on the input level
I was using INSERT INTO table1 (name, TypeName) SELECT ?,? WHERE ((SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table1 WHERE name=?) = 0); but the 2nd value ended up being null
then tried this
INSERT INTO `table1` (name, TypeName) values (blee, null) Where NOT EXISTS name='stuff for value1' LIMIT 1
but the where throws error

This takes some weird explaining.
So on this site, if I try to enlarge an image, if the image is in the middle of my screen, it anchors the top of the image, so the image enlarges down on my screen.
BUT, if I scroll down a little bit, and the image is near the top of my screen, the image is anchored at the BOTTOM, so it enlarges up, and I have to scroll all the way back up to view the image. Same thing happens when I click to shrink it again so I constantly lose my place.
This only started happening like a day ago. What is this shit. Does anyone else get this problem? It's fucking annoying.
Jose Flores

Is value1s column marked unique in the DB? Then the second insert should work fine without that second where... You can also use ON DUPLICATE KEY to do stuff on matching value1s.
I'm trying to make a game in Unity and I suck fat balls at coding.
I've figured out how to make my camera work, and move my character sprite around in 3D. Then I made the sprite a billboard so that it would always face the camera instead of turning around like it's made of paper.
For some reason, this has made the sprite start to stretch out and look fucked up whenever it moves. That didn't happen before. Does anyone know what I did wrong? And/or how to solve it?

I have a shitty old laptop my mom gave me. The screen is practically broken from the hinge.
I don't need a laptop, but what can I do with this old one?

HTPC, media server, secure isolated device, neverware chrome OS guest device. Pretty much anything you could do with a Raspberry Pi

This pops up now and then for no reason. Only way to exit is to press back button. Usually though, it keeps spamming back up. It's not connected to any particular app ( I think?). Moto X force android 6.0.1
Aiden Roberts
Set it up as a server of some kind? Maybe it allows you to VPN into your home network when you're out and about. Maybe it collects your mail from your mail provider and serves it up via IMAP. Make it a compute node in your render farm using Apple Qmaster.

Hard-drive question Bout to build a new PC (when parts arrive). Can I use my existing hard drives in my new build? Or is it better to just install new hard-drives and transfer files from old PC to new via usb?

>reboot >suddenly no video output I can still access the UEFI because it beeps when I do but I'm not getting anything from onboard graphics nor my graphics card. What do I do?
Andrew Baker
>Can I use my existing hard drives in my new build? Yes.
>Or is it better to just install new hard-drives You'll have two working PCs if you do this. You might also consider an SSD for the os/boot drive on your new PC.
It's just down to money and your use case.
Juan Gray
Check the computer boots into the OS by pinging it from your network/accessing whatever services you have enabled. Check monitor works with a different computer.
Kevin Hill
Thanks. I know I'll have to install new drivers but would I remove the old drivers before or after I install them in the new PC? (All new components are different from PC)
Levi Watson
Monitor works, just tried booting it again and I got video when X started, still can't see anything when I access the UEFI though.
Ryder Morgan
These threads violate our "Sup Forums is NOT your personal tech support" rule. Cease and desist.
Adrian Morgan
It's a containment thread. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a tech support general filled with questions than a bunch of help threads each for a specific problem. Contain your autism and learn how to use filters.
Lincoln James
You should not have to remove old drivers as your OS should only bother loading a driver when it detects a piece of hardware that needs it. Just install the new drivers.
Nathaniel Walker
Is the monitor hooked up when you power on the computer, or do you try hooking it up after it's already powered on? I would try taking out your external video card, plugging in your monitor to your integrated, then starting your machine. This way you can rule out slow start times from the external video card confusing your bios from figuring out where the active display is.
Eli Martinez
Pulling the graphics card worked, thanks user. Still don't get how the UEFI settings changed on their own but fuck it, it works now.
Nathan Carter
I have three drives. Two are good, large SSDs. The third is a shitty old hard drive that's mostly porn. I want to put Windows and some Linux distro on the good drives, and somehow encrypt a Windows installation(for my porn games) on the shitty drive. I know you can do some crazy efficient stuff with virtualization now, is it possible to mouse between them(with full screen stuff not fucking it up), or do I need to go the KVM switch route? And what's the overhead like? My only knowledge of this kinda stuff is from Linus' 8 gamers one CPU video. Would I need a video card for each instance, or can they share one? As for encrypting the shitty drive, what are my options? If I can make it not show up on boot without knowing it's there, even better, but it's a "Hope for the best, plan for the worst" situation in case anyone gets nosy or I accidentally somehow give it a drive letter and open the wrong folder on a livestream or something.
Can you or should you? You could, sure. You shouldn't. A new motherboard is the time for a new installation, doing otherwise is just asking for trouble. You'll probably miss some driver that conflicts, and even if you get all the drivers, there are so many random spots you'd never think to check that configure stuff based on the hardware that was in place when they were installed.

Buy whichever is compatible and then go into the UEFI to choose the clockspeed you want to run it at. Or use the XMP if your motherboard has an XMP bios setting it should configure the voltage and timings correctly for your CPU clockspeed
Jack Diaz
>is it possible to mouse between them(with full screen stuff not fucking it up) I have Mac OS with a copy of Windows running inside VirtualBox. I can mouse between them with full screen not screwing things up. But I've not tried anything fancy, like giving Windows access to my hardware.
>Porn drive. Do you have a different computer you could put that in? Then could access it as a password protected share.
You could set-up a linux file-server running in a virtual machine, I guess. If I had the spare hardware I would go for that for an easy life.

Joining an on-site tech support company. Pays really well, and involves pc/mac/network support and parts ordering/installment. What should I expect?
Jayden Cook
Just a RasPi, but my friends are all the tech types that would want to know what kinda cool project that Pi was for. An extra drive, no one even notices, and extra installation, eh, they'd ask and then probably accept any excuse. I somehow always fail at network related stuff, and the goal is to sandbox that off from the other drives, so accessing it via the network on my normal installation isn't a great choice. Good idea otherwise, I hadn't considered that.

I installed Kubuntu, then upgraded to the newest version(16.10), but now on boot up the screen dies as if it gets no signal. What the fuck is this? How do I fix it?
Ethan Perez
...huh. Yup. Might be retarded. Considered flash drive for this purpose, disregarded it for speed, know those docks exist... Never put two and two together. This seems like the solution. Thanks!

Question!
Sup Forums image loading is slow as shit. Problem exists in both firefox and chrome. My internet speed is not the cause, because everything else everywhere else works fast.
Is there a trick to make stuff load faster? Am I the only one with slow images?
Wyatt Hughes
Some images default to a slower mirror, you want to be using i.4cdn.org. The slow one's is2.Sup Forums.org
Luis White
How would one choose which mirror to use in both firefaux and chrome?

Found an old IBM Aptiva 2153 for $6 at a thriftshop.
Works. Has had FreeBSD installed (OpenBSD kept giving errors when the CD booted.)
I was planning on using BSD to explore Unix. However, there's no connectivity, at least, not yet - It's still using an old, old modem card, and I'm still getting my feet wet on intermediate POSIX configuration.
Drive is 6gb, with 128 mb of memory. Looks like the harddrive may be on its way out.
Some ideas I've thrown around: explore BSD (current), install FreeDOS, install Windows 95 from disk, install Damn Small and/or Puppy Linux, look for compliant Slackware.
Please advise, I'd love to do something fun and educational with this machine.

Is it worth installing a Bluetooth/WiFi card?
I currently have a tiny WiFi dongle and I'd like to get a Bluetooth one for a ps4 controller to hook up to my PC (music too I guess)
Is there any real benefit to actually installing a card?
The dongles are cheap as fuck and work really well
Noah Price
Not without the unobtainium heat shield, and those are almost impossible to find this time of year.

is it feasible to crack a dcc2/mscachev2 hash that i know is 8 characters and is comprised of random uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers?
Gavin Lee
dunno m8, I use a dongles 'cause they're so cheap. if you have a lot of bluetooth stuff then go for it
Jaxson Moore
Do you think it'd affect speed much?
If I'm playing games with it, surely the card would be much faster than the dongle but would it make a difference?
Liam Bell
Even brute forcing it at 10 tries/second would take less than three days if I'm doing my math right
Evan Thompson
I have access to one of those Microsoft Imagine accounts, with Windows licenses all over the place.
I'm using parallels and I decided to dual boot macOS and Windows and use Parallels to access the Windows installation. Since I have 2 different setups (virtualized and real hardware) but Parallel officially supports this feature, how does activation work on both sides?
I'm just asking because I did this a while ago and I had trouble with this in particular.
Aiden Brown
I'm gonna be upgrading my graphics card in a couple of months. Anything coming out soon I should wait for?
Logan Bell
Probably not. But bear in mind that wifi and blutooth compete. So you might reduce the speed/reliability of your wifi connection a bit while the bluetooth is running
Joshua Bell
What?
So I'm better off using separate dongles?
Asher Moore
hashcat is saying 3 years and 61 days. trying to figure out if there's a faster way
Tyler White
It probably depends a lot on the card/dongle. Some mobile devices won't let you enable wifi and bluetooth at the same time. But you'll probably be alright as long as your signal isn't already weak or overcrowded. It'd be a lot like having two wifi devices right next to eachother, if one of them was pumping out a more long range signal than the other
