Immediately figure out how you can get from the help desk to something better, a server team, app team, just get a plan and do it. Talk to your manager and ask them how to get there. Otherwise you will be stuck in that position for ever.

Here's your life from now on(watch it's funny)

>working at a help desk

do it for one year then move on

move up asap

Learn how to install adobe reader and NASA ultron browser

This is pretty sadly accurate. Get used to either remoting into peoples stations or walking to their desks because they will always give you wrong info or just not be capable of clicking 2 things on their own.

Turn your brain off during work and don't take any harsh words personally.

Toddposting on Sup Forums passes the time.

Don't even offer them the option of doing it themselves. Remote in immediately because users are retarded and can't follow simple directions.

Trust me I learned that quick enough. The amount of times I've had to remote in and click a single button or even remote in to type someones username because they didn't know that certain field was case sensitive is amazing. Like other people in thread said, look to move up. Start researching other parts of the IT field and also ask whenever you can to help with other projects.

Prepare to lose any faith in humanity you ever had.

Pretty big. It's for the government

I'm not the only guy there. I report to an IT manager

I actually study network administration too. I even have a CCNA

I'm just doing helpdesk to get some experience. Pay is pretty good, so I think I'll stick around for 2 years at most. Then I'll see if I can get promoted to a net admin position or I'll jump ship

Go back to being NEET.

this.

meet all the people you can, be nice, solve their problems.

everyone knows
1) helpdesk sucks
2) it must be done by "somebody"

prove you're hungry and worth more than being that somebody in perpetuity.

"Did you turn it off and on?"

GG you win
