Chile and Uruguay should be a part of Argentina
Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela could merge together
Brazil should annex the Guyanas

Also most if not all lat countries are centralist based, meaning that all the resource goes to the capital and far away communities have to depend on the leftovers of the state budget.
For example here in Mex, Chiapas produces half of all the renewable energy of the country, still the subsidizes given to the capital makes electricity 3 times more expensive in this state.
Now apply that to any given sector in any given annexed country. There's simply not enough reasons to do it.

South American countries are already too big, being even bigger would make them unmanageable. See Brazil, it's like two countries (north-northeast/ the rest).
Canada and Russia don't count, because most of their territory is an unliveable frozen shithole. Australia for the opposite reason.
