No because I don't use Windows 10.

No, I have nothing to hide.

>your installation of Windows 10
You're making some pretty big assumptions there.

What's the betting you use an OS developed by the NSA.

May I have a copy of all of your bank statements, then?

it doesn't track everything because what about passwords and banking info?

Please share your paswords with me then. You can't trust some random microsoft employee that looks at your data more than any other user on Sup Forums.

Sure. Just tell me what address they should be delivered to.

admin@Sup Forums.org

I'm not a brain-dead luddite so no, not the slightest.

>I have nothing to hide.
So go around town nude to show the world how small your dick is, if you're so anti-privacy.

Yes, that's why I only use Android
>tfw you can't get Windows 8 tablets anymore
Can Android support a hypervisor with VT-x?

I'm more pissed about the auto-updates that WILL restart your computer whether you want it to or not, and all you can do is delay by a couple minutes.

Then why wont you disable Windows Update service or set "notify for download and notify for install"?

I ran into this every time - people complain about various things in Windows systems but when asked if they actualyl DID something about it, the answer is usually no.

Funny enough, MS admitted once that they made updates automatic by default because way too many users complained about security holes and problems long fixed with updates that they didnt install because "wuts update?".

I'm not actually pissed, but if there was a complaint it would be that. I tend to shut down my PC once a week or so anyway, or restart due to some other thing installing, so the Windows restarts have only happened once or twice.

I honestly have no idea what to believe about Windows 10 anymore. Every normie either goes "I see nothing wrong", then runs into a bunch of freezing issues due to leaving the defaults, or says it is horrible because they have no idea how to change default values. How much is because people aren't willing to change some Group Policy settings?

>Group Policy settings
Group Policy is disabled in home version, and no normie knows the existence of that feature.

>Do I feel bothered?

No. Right now installing Win10 in a virtual machine.

I was under impression that same shit was added in bundled updates to Win7 and 8/8.1. Are you supposed to be running Win7 w/o updates then?

I installed Win10 yesterday just for few games that run like shit on linux. I don't store any files there, don't work on it, I don't even browse web on that win install, but as I always have problems with Win7 updates on fresh install, went for Win10 for convenience.

ive never had any problems with it period but Im not retarded I didnt get auto updated.

"WE'LL TELL YOU WHEN WE'RE READY."

That is what I mean. We need more valid info for what happens when someone who knows how to shut off stuff in Enterprise.

what GNU+systemd variant do you use normally?

I only asked few anons already on Sup Forums to try monitoring Win10 with settings configured as described in:

technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/manage/manage-connections-from-windows-operating-system-components-to-microsoft-services

They didnt notice anything extra from what was listed here and especially no screenshoot sending that Russian guy was showing.

So I configured my Education version the same and dropped AntiBeacon as well. Also manually removed unwanted packages by powershell.

I dont complain right now, really.

It's complicated.

I know that the whole argument about "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear" is silly, as this data can be compromised in the future. I know people who don't even know their data is being tracked, or ask "why would anyone want my personal information anyways", but there's a lot of factors to take in consideration.

Yet, I understand that there are certain services that I just don't find myself comfortable enough to work without. It's a convenience matter. We're offering you a service in exchange for your personal information, because we know you're a poor bastard, and if we tried to sell you this service you would probably not buy it at all. Meanwhile gathering your data is not particularly hard and we can make bank without you having to lift a finger.

I use Windows 10. I just can't give that much of a shit, to be honest. I know my information is being tracked and the consequences of it, I know that -some- of it is bullshit as well, and I know that while using an internet connection is already giving out information, there are varying degrees so this "botnet" problem is a little bit different on different OSes or with different services. But I'm not stopping there and doing the extra steps necessary to do something that in the end -is- really unavoidable. And that if I were them, I'd do exactly the same thing.

That is promising. All I hear about (surrounded by normies) is how Windows 10 is freezing their Adobe Acrobat or how it prevents their drivers from working properly to such a device such as a printer.

to stop something that in the end -is- really unavoidable*

I need to think before I type

I wouldn't give any fucks until today.
I often use the sticky notes app and recently was asked to update it.
Just checked the options of the app for comparison and the new update doesn't show the "send usage info to microsoft" option which the previous version had.
Fuck them right in the bum.
As I use it mainly as a temporary notebook or clipboard, I don't trust microsoft enough to write any personal info, passwords or numbers in a note now so it render the app useless afterwards

No, they are not bothered because look at the last specs thread.

Use rainmeter, there are plenty of skinsets in that which contain a note applet.

If we are talking about printers, I have mixed experience - at home my plugged printer works perfectly fine, at work wireless printer works well as well out of box, but another wireless one refused to work properly with my laptop and had to be plugged.

>Adobe Acrobat

Could be. I use Envice right now because I dont like new Readers and prefer older ones.

Its uncomplicated for my point of view.

Entitlement babbies think that because Windows runs games they are entitled to get it, period. Microsoft is a software company that only sells (or gives away) their complex OS on their terms. That's freedom. That's America.

To give an analogy: this is like a sperg going to an amusement park and finding out there are cameras watching the rollercoaster for safety.

>WHAT??

>YOURE GOING TO WATCH ME WITHOUT MY CONSENT???

>SOME PEOPLE DONT EVEN REALIZE THEYRE BEING FILMED

>IM NOT LETTING YOUR OPTICS ALL OVER MY BODY THATS MY RIGHT

>STILL LET ME IN I WANT TO GO ON THE ROLLER COASTER NOW NOW NOW!!!

>your installation of Windows 10
The fuck are you talking about?

>tfw you can't get Windows 8 tablets anymore
You can downgrade most of them to 8

No, Sup Forums memes don't bother me in the slightest.

I've been managing office networks with thousands of Windows PCs since the glorious WinXP era. The real bullshit with legit Windows installations these days is the fact that you need to run your own KMS servers.

fight the power
fuck the nsa
kill cia niggers

While I agree I think people can take their own measures as well, and some of these practices are done based on the fact that people are stupid in most terms.

I mean put a big ass EULA that no one is going to ever read. People are even going to invent things about it, and has happened with the earlier versions of W10.

You're giving your consent, because otherwise you can't use the service, product, whatever. You can complain all you want but basically they -are- telling you what the consequences of it are. Google, Microsoft, Apple and others are just really clever about offering products that will drag people in. Not using these products or services is valid, and they're not really necessary either, like I said, just way more convenient.

For instance, how could I find out where I've been at this exact hour a year ago if I didn't have anything tracking on my location? Only through really good memory, note taking, maybe making a few pictures at said date. If I "accidentally" had location services enabled on my smartphone though, I would be able to just check it out. That is convenient for Google, yes. But that's also convenient for me. I may not get much for giving my personal data, but I'm still getting something out of it, and I could just not use it.

Why is this OKAY?LMAO
I have to use placebo software to make myself think my information isn't being stored in a server house for blackmail purposes. I'm too lazy to downgrade doe

If you admit it's placebo, why do you use it?

not necessarily true. it seems to only restart during periods of low activity. i have folding@home set to kick on when my monitor shuts off, which is enough to fool the update system into thinking the computer is still actively being used. the update service will complain every couple of days but do nothing.

Helps me sleep at night thinking they don't see my pr0n folder

What Windows 10 installation?

> thats freedom
> thats america

Then why do you have curtains?

Why? I'm not a pedo that has something to hide

I don't have curtains. Our motto is "you may know everything about me, except my PIN code".

send to [email protected] please

Dont your ISP already know about your futa comics?

Nah VPN + dnscrpyt

And how will my ISP decrypt my HTTPS communications?

I know right! Only pedophiles are concerned about their privacy!!!

I support idea that governments and companies knows everything about every people in the world!

>No more traitors like Snowden or Assange!
>No more terrorizm, pedophiles!
>Personalized ads where ever you are!
>New era for some intriguing apps, like: Friends Secrets Browser, cheating GF detector, XXX private photo browser, collect data about a person and impersonate him app!
>Government would know every librafag who has any critisizm towards them!
>No more showing news without government approval!

Oh man... what a beautiful world it would be... No more secrets, no more different opinions, no more stupid debates (because no different opinions, duh), government helps us to live a meaningful life and shows us how we should think.

>When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny
Fuck you librafag!!! STFU!

Filthy peasants. Come ascend into God hood and use the anti-spy beacon program. Mark this day as it will be the day you have been enlightened

Microsoft will tell your passwords because you confessed online that "you have nothing to hide".

Disable auto updates with group policy editor. Simple for anyone that knows how to use a GUI. Apparently this was too difficult for Linux fags to grasp.

Would you be comfortable knowing that anyone could access any digital data you have?
Know we're talking about governments and large companies.
How long will it take with this narrow attitude of yours, to make this info publicly available to anyone?
I mean if no one cares, then why they shouldn't do it.
Let's make some changes in humans rights.
>no more privacy

Imagine a world where everyone can access your digital data. Including but not limiting to: all messages, e-mails, phone calls, every account, bookmarks... etc. etc.

Do you have any proof that all of your files are available to Microsoft or are you just spreading FUD?

I don't mind because if anyone paid attention to me at all it might feel nice

>he has a Windows PC that is connected to the internet 24/7
I heeded Sup Forums's advice and my wangblose PC is simply not connected to the internet at all
I just copy stuff I need from my ganoo/lennox

That's not what I meant.
If people will stop carrying about their privacy, who will stop companies and government to intrude more?
From governments/companies perspective it should look like this:
>Well, people don't mind, let's go deeper.

And you can't be sure if your windows 10 does not send some list of file names in your drive to MS, can you?

>And you can't be sure if your windows 10 does not send some list of file names in your drive to MS, can you?

In the same way that you can't be sure that Linux does the same, right?

Do you have proof or not?

Linux is open source faggot. Even a retard like you can read the code.

Be honest, have you ever read the source code in its entirety? Do you understand what everything does? Do you compile all source code yourself?

I'd bet money that you're just another linux parrot that downloaded his precompiled distro who trusts anyone that isn't Microsoft because you did something stupid in Windows once and hated Microsoft ever since.

Search your feelings and send me that money, kiddo.

Lol no. I use win7 from an unknown source. Joke's on me though, all my password have probably been stolen.

>doesn't have proof
>sidesteps the question

kek

Heartbleed already destroyed that retarded argument forever.

Too bad retardation never leaves the retards.

Yeah, when they announced that they had data for all of the pictures viewed and videos watched using that new image/video player they have, I stayed on Windows 7. I have shit that's just for me and that I don't want anyone else to see.

Weird to see captcha for signs in my city.

I knew Groove collected data on songs played to serve up more related content, but do you have a source on the pictures data?

what does it matter, why would you use that default crap? why aren't you using irfanview, foobar2000, mpc-hc, etc?

I don't use it, but that has nothing to do with what I asked. I'm interested in where you got the information on "collected data for all of the pictures viewed" since I cannot find it.

install blackbird nigga

>your installation of Windows 10
>your
It's not yours, it's Microsoft's. "Your" system is actually theirs. "Your" computer is theirs for as long as the OS is installed on your system. Seriously. Read the EULA.

>Install monthly Winblows 10 Update
>Computer no longer boots
Wow good job Microsoft, glad I could pay to beta test your OS.

This

Never happened to me. Sounds like user error. But hey, that's pretty common for someone on Sup Forums.

>not having the best Windows operating system since 7 installed on your Personal Computing Device

Well, thanks for the baseless claims, I guess.

Mine doesn't.

Mine doesn't.

Oh nose my cheese pizza!

I don't care if it does, because it boots up in a virtual non-networked environment so I can compile my code, and then it's shut down.

cringe arguments >>>/reddit/

I'm still using 486 dos...

Do you feel bothered that everything you do in this site are send to NSA and AD companies?

Heartbleed underwent a huge public notice: FIX YOUR SHIT NOW
And it was gone in a day.
The exploit gained nearly no traction by the time it was discovered and instantly patched.

Any privacy issue in Linux will undergo the same initiative.
Just look at how faggots regularly screech about systemd being an issue for becoming merely monolithic in function.
And alternatives emerged. They are completely usable and designed just because a piece of software merely bent the unix philosophy.

>Be honest, have you ever read the source code in its entirety?
No but I trust the actual people working on it not to be able to hide anything of significance in my software and if they do I can patch it out.
Tons of enterprise environments rely upon my very same software and they'd have a bone to pick with any party who tried this shit.

Microsoft suffers from the same issues but there is no patch coming: Look at the samba file share bug that stuck around for months.
M$' statement: Use the edge browser and Windows 10 for best protection.
Happens regularly and I want patches now, not IOUs.

This argument again...are you 12? This simply doesn't work because although MS can overlook your activity on W10 they don't usurpate your identity nor modify your files. It's not the same thing as giving your password to a complete stranger. Grow up.

>NSA

Is this fucker 12?

Yes, but I'm past the age where I'd actually do anything about it.

Ad hominem.

Real people can monitor your information. They have a department for their "services" which may include the OS, itself.
Now that they have this power, they feel morally obligated and perhaps legally to have a team of real people gloss over the contents of other people's machines.
Which should make you uncomfortable and begin to question why they should be doing this in the first place.

There is no reason they can't take this kind of thing further.

From your sources:

"A Microsoft representative said in a statement: “Microsoft applies industry-leading, cutting-edge technology to help detect and classify illegal images of child abuse and exploitation that are shared by users on Microsoft services."

If you're sharing cp using OneDrive, you deserve to get caught you stupid fuck.

>This argument again...are you 12?
Ad hominem.

> This simply doesn't work because although MS can overlook your activity on W10 they don't usurpate your identity nor modify your files.

This is waffle and is an attempt to distract from the request.

>It's not the same thing as giving your password to a complete stranger.

The point is you claim you have nothing to hide; by refusing to let free the password to your email, shows that what could be deemed as hiding, or protecting, is the issue. You are a hypocrite.

>Grow up.

Shaming won't work. Hypocrite.

>oh nos they know I fap to Lexi Belle all day everyday

Whatever will I do Microsoft knows I'm into cute blonde girls

>The point is you claim you have nothing to hide; by refusing to let free the password to your email, shows that what could be deemed as hiding, or protecting, is the issue. You are a hypocrite.

No, the point is that it's not the same thing. I wouldn't share my passwords for the sake of privacy but for the sake of preventing identity theft or anybody altering important documents. Again, I simply don't care about telemetry.

>Lexi Belle
I'd like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Lexi Belle is in fact Taco Belle, or as I've recently started calling it, Taco + Lexi Belle.

>Windows 10
>Ever

CP is just a test bench to see how secure a platform is. Microsoft is confirmed unsafe.

my password is obviously "password"

Ah yes, I'm sure you would like to air all your internal family issues to the whole wide world. Just set up a camera and stream everything.

"Nothing to hide" is the argument of unironic imbeciles.

Everyone has a lot of things to hide, or rather, keep private. Not because they're involved in drug smuggling but because they have a private life that is no one's business but theirs. Even the people who post a ton of their personal stuff in social media have plenty of things they would not post.

I'll have you know I have a pirated version of Windows 10, so it's actually going to a telemarketer in China.
