2017 Browser Battle

I think we can all agree that this is how they stack up these days

Confirmed OP uses Vivaldi and used to use Opera.

>closed source
>"no privacy issues"

lmao opera has now a facebook chat client inbuilt

I installed it, customized it and uninstalled it in less than 1 minute.

Enemy of your freedom tier: Vivaldi, Opera, Chrome

What about Yandex? I personally love it

Pale Meme is not a placebo, it's actually faster.

russian botnet

>is another vivaldi shill thread

>open source
>no privacy issues

As if anyone bothers to sift though open sores code on a regular basis

Yeah maybe faster than firefox, which is to say it's still slower than all the *mium based browsers and even edge.

When you think the Vivaldi shills have finally left Sup Forums...

This is the real chart, Sup Forumstard.

I'm pretty sure there is only one, user.

>pic
>no god tier GNU Icecat

That image was true in 2013 my friend, get with the times

i didn't know edge was out in 2013

>palemoon
>icecat
>seamonkey

these should be in placebo tier

Or Iridium

Qutebrowser > all other browsers

SeaMonkey performs better than firefox.

I'll stick with firefox.

>A implying B implies not A implying not B
>failing basic logic
Step up your game

>used vivaldi before first stable was ever released
>it was okish
>problems stacking tabs when tabs on the side
>switch to good ol' Firefox
>decide to try vivaldi again
>download latest stable
>browse wsg
>looks good
>go to youtube
>watch video
>press f for fullscreen
>vivaldi crashes
it's garbage man

also
>no privacy issues
>based on chromium
pick one

This entire thread

no this is the real chart

Outdated

>Implying that no one out of the millions of people who uses has not ever once checked to see if there's a backdoor

>millions of people
>FOSS
>implying anyone checks

This nigger

now its not

>Firefox
>chrome/ium
>WebKit
>linux
>vlc
>android
>tons of other software

>not millions

>On the top we have Vivaldi, Chromium, (source code released, but not free) with no improvements, just a theme.

>On the excellent tier, we have Opera and Chromium
>Opera:
>Closed source, abandoned Presto rendering engine, became ANOTHER Chrome re-skin

>Chromium:
While fast, it is not very customizable, and it has some privacy issues

>Autism tier:
>Palemoon
This is just bullshit. Pale Moon is a wonderful browser by all means.

>Developer wants to remove the (unused) telemetry code from the base
>FOSS
>gets security upgrades
>works with almost every Firefox addon, including Jetpack/SDK provided you're on the latest version and use Moon Testing Tool

>very customizable, XUL extensions work, and so do most themes, including Arc, Arc Dark, PMChrome (if you like chrome's ui) Opresto (if you like classic Opera) plus themes that make it look like Maxathon

Good chart. Waterfox / Cyberfox / Comodo / Icedragon are placebos, I don't know if it's fair to call Vivaldi a "placebo", though.

Pale Moon has differentiated itself from Firefox. IceCat is the GNU project's build of Firefox with many security and privacy enhanced features, and SeaMonkey includes a Mail, IRC, and newsgroup client. They're all very different from their original product (Firefox) and deserve to be recognized.

>heartbleed existed for years

>icecat
>cutting edge
I literally want to punch you both in the face.

>hdm.io/tools/debian-openssl/
My fav when talking about flagrant bug in FOSS

Atleast Chrome is the fastest. What privacy concerns you may have, performance is the most important factor there is.

I'm using Chrome now. Should I switch to Chromium? Which version should I get?

>I'm using chromium with a skin
>should I switch to chromium with a skin?
user pls

Get vivaldi for the customization and less hardware consumption

>less hardware consumption
>on chromium
kek

What about Brave Sup Forums?

Go fuck yourself, mongoloid.

Shit tier.

poor bait is poor

i just installed iridium to test it out and when i searched it searched with some shady search engine pls explain

But it isn't. This was exactly the reason I switched to Firefox.

>shady search engine
Since when is anything that's not Google "shady". They're removing any Google defaults and other tracking elements from chromium, that's the browser's point.

Nightly firefox has amazing performance though. It's as fast as chrome.

Don't care much for plugins, eyecandy and shit.

I just want the most lightweight (but still functional and sane) browser.

Or Brave.

...

>bloated shit
>god tier

What's your browser history?
As far as I remember, starting somewhere in early 2000s
>IE6
>Firefox
>Opera
>Chrome
>Firefox
>Vivaldi

>2097
>not using uc browser pc

>calls himself a power user
>uses firefox or chrome
the only option, based on your needs, is either vivaldi or nightly chromium.

But it is OSS?

Someone tell me what's wrong with chrome.

Only partly, which is the same as nothing.

For just browsing facebook, nothing.
It's like saying that a bicycle will get you to work and back. True, but using a car is much more comfortable.

so the webkit nightly/safari tech preview is god tier, but once it becomes a stable release it's shit tier?

Yeah but like, is it actually a botnet? Is there proof of that claim?

Buy new computer. Install opera. See this, can't change it back to the old speed dial.

What do I switch to and why?

You forget to add the amazing IPT Browser.
In scam tier of course.

Vivaldi is the new Opera, or trying to become. It is by most of the old Opera devs and CEO.

It is however still missing a lot of basic things. But keep your eyes on it.

Firefox dev detected

It's made by a company whose main source of revenue is targeted advertisement. Go figure...

>IE
>Firefox
>Opera
>Firefox
>Opera
>chrome, Torch and Iron (used them for a week each before dumping them)
>Firefox
>Opera
>Firefox
>Nightly Firefox

Yes.

Yeah but if companies dont show advertisement to the correct target audiences, that advertisement doesnt pay for itself. It's more logical if anything.

Vivaldi because you can customize everything about it.

vivaldi is not a good browser in any way shape or form if you ever choose to skip an update it launches slower and slower till you update anyway

Can't customize the UI layout.
Can't customize what results pop up in the address bar (Can't hide bookmarks, history, etc)

ie and edge not in botnet tier?

source?

me using it for a few months skipping an updating and then soon enough to took almost a full minute to launch every time

I have tried just about all browsers, even very niche ones at some point, but the main browsers:

IE6
Firefox
Chrome and still Firefox at the same time.

As for other browsers I have at least tried, it's easier to just go to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_browsers and then remove like a handful. But Chrome and Firefox just works.

ah cool so no proof at all

shit list mate

Is there a way for you to replicate and record the results? If what you say is true then maybe it would make sense that the results would show if you revert to a previous version.

I do.

...

this will always be up to date. You cant avoid the botnet in 2017

You can with TempleOS

and what do you do with your isp and router?

Throw it to the bin. TempleOS does not support any kind of networking

>moved to chromium
>tfw blazing fast ui and loading time unlike the firefucks piece of shit that I've tried to factory reset but didn't fix the lag

Nightly should be in placebo autism tier. It's just as slow as Firefox

I use Opera developer, adblock and a VPN come with it, works pretty well imo.

I posted it again XD

>

confirmed. I just opened my chromium after forgetting about it for awhile and using firefox for no reason. Just compared both back to back, chromium 10x faster and doesn't look like shit. thanks for the reminder user

Let nightly is faster may may XDDDD

only cancerous thing is you can't drop and move a tab from one window to another.

From what I read, it seems that Chromium has binary BLOBs. What are they for? Are they planning to replace them with open source components?

And the fact you can't drag and drop images directly into photoshop.

It doesn't have to be faster if it's just as fast as any browser. Chromium being faster is a meme.

Chromium is faster and Nightly is just as fast as Firefox.

>K-Meleon
Last time I used K-meleon was probably around 2012. Is this really still a thing?
