Vocaroo Thread

You know how it goes.

>Obliatory English, but please post other languages, more difficult texts, et cetera.
"These include Cornwall, in the extreme Southwest tip of England which has its own Gaelic dialect; Yorkshire in England which still maintains a friendly rivalry with Lancashire with which the famous Wars of the Roses were fought and areas of Wales where Welsh remains the first language."

(My example: vocaroo.com/i/s198ITSG1ESK)

>Also in Deutsch:
"Diese umfassen Cornwall im äußersten Südwest zipfel Englands, das seinen eigenen gälischen Dialekt hat; Yorkshire in England, das noch immer eine freundschaftliche Rivalität mit Lancashire wahrt, mit dem die berühmten Rosenkriege geführt wurden, und Gegenden in Wales, wo Walisisch noch die erste Sprache ist."

bump for poker

Wow, Nigel. Not cool. This thread is for language practise and international discussion. Please don't derail my thread.

Cornish is not Gaelic, it's Brythonic

Is there actual places in Wales where Welsh is the first language?

>Is there

Are there, I mean.

I doubt there are many places where only Welsh is spoken, but areas where Welsh is the dominant language must exist. Even Irish has that despite being in a far worse position.

This is a tricky one:

"Morena de Angola que leva o chocalho amarrado na canela

Será que ela mexe o chocalho ou o chocalho é que mexe com ela?

Será que a morena cochila escutando o cochicho do chocalho?

Será que desperta gingando e já sai chocalhando pro trabalho?"

>baseball

Piece from a song I love:

Há soldados armados
Amados ou não
Quase todos perdidos
De armas na mão
Nos quartéis lhes ensinam
Uma antiga lição
De morrer pela pátria
E viver sem razão

You havin' a bubble? Baseball is great to watch. Very exciting. In the bottom of the first, a ball deflected off of the bat and in the umpire in the fact, knocking off his face-mask. And now he just got taken out of the game, presumably because he's feeling pretty shaken.

>and in the umpire

*and hit the umpire

Yeah whatever. Are you going to watch the Pens game tonight ?

>You havin' a bubble?

>fact

Btw to answer your question from yesterday, I'm still waiting for a few more anons to post themselves playing/singing.

So I guess I'll extend the request here.

If any of you guys sing or play an instrument, play record a couple bars of your playing Drunken Sailor, or singing. Right now we've already got the first verse and one chorus, so if you wanna sing a verse or chorus it's like this (up for modification 2bh):

Put him in the long-boat and make him bail her. [repeated 3 times]
Early in the morning.

chorus:
Ho! Ho! and up she rises [repeated thrice]
Early in the morning.

What shall we do with a drunken soldier? [repeated 3 times]
Early in the morning.

chorus:
Hoorah! and up she rises [repeated thrice]
Early in the morning.

Put him in the guardroom till he gets sober. [repeated 3 times]
Early in the morning.

chorus:
Weigh heigh! and up she rises! [repeated thrice]
Early in the morning.

I think I've already recorded the weigh heigh and up she rises part, right?

I guess I could try this some day
got any specific version I'm supposed to sing/play?

Not a single pronunciation mistake and the accent was not thick. Good job man
(Hue)

Requesting french and/or spanish pls

hmmmm, I don't think so? I think you recorded the What shall we do part, but then I asked if you'd sing a different verse. But I'm not sure if you posted after that.

Just the regular stuff on an instrument you can play. If you wanna sing, you could sing one of those choruses, or one of the verses. It probably doesn't really matter which one, because if we get enoguh peeps then eventually I'll be able to put it all together properly.

>Requesting french and/or spanish pls

Just read whatever you want in french and I'll rate you.

8.5/10, but a little difficult to hear what you were saying at times.

Requesting some German

but how can I sing it and how can you put it together if I have no idea about the key or tempo

You don't have a thick accent at all, but somehow it was a bit difficult to understand. I guess because there are a few proper nouns in the text you read.

>Here's a clearer version.

As a good as the first one, didn't really see any mistakes, except I might say that—in this Vocaroo at least—it sounds like you don't quite enunciate small words like "of" or "in."

Pretty much flawless, and cool, typical Ruski accent.

rate pls i'm not sure how to pronounce "gaelic"

well, it's a cute accent.

sorry, forgot the link vocaroo.com/i/s10yCibdc5a8

It was fine, Gaelic was said correctly, you just need to work on adding a bit of edge to the words, it sounded like it was kinda just slipping off as though you had a numb tongue.

Your English is quality mate, no mistakes and can understand you really well.

thanks. i don't know how i'm supposed to do that though, i was already trying to enunciate the words as clearly and "firmly" as possible...

thanks xxx
