>a fucking phone is releasing with a 1440p screen
And monitor manufacturers still sell them mostly with 1080p.... how is this allowed?
>a fucking phone is releasing with a 1440p screen
And monitor manufacturers still sell them mostly with 1080p.... how is this allowed?
because (((they))) don't want you to have long battery life on your phone
Its easier to make a very small 1440p screen. This is very true for OLED
it's much harder to make a bigger screen with high density
>1440p
>p
Are there any phones with interlaced scanning?
It would have looked better without the Samshit logo and the screen extended to the bottom bezel.
make millions of panels at the same size for a product that billions of people buy a year and use as a method of conspicuous consumption
or
make thousands of panels of various sizes to sell to nerds who want to get more out of their GPU
>missing the point this badly
Except you could have a 2160p 20" screen and still have lower density than a phone
A phone with a 1440p screen is cheaper than 1440p ips monitor
>4k screens are being marketed as the new meme format
>1440p is hard to manufacture
Yeah, no.
when you write 1440p it's immediately clear you're talking about screen resolution. and typing 2560x1440 is too hard
>thinking phones need such high resolutions
4k resolution when?
sony z5 premium
>still missing the point like a retard
This meme already exists.
This is somewhat true, 1440p has always been a stopgap resolution for people who want it and it could be handled by current display interfaces that was around a few years ago.
Larger screens have always been harder to make 1440p, 4k, or otherwise. Its easy for Samsung to pump out 6 inch 1440p OLED screens, not so easy to pump out 27 inch 1440p OLEDs
>still thinking product designers and companies care about the end user in any way besides their disposable income
Lmao this desu
>And monitor manufacturers still sell them mostly with 1080p.... how is this allowed?
If you thinks that's bad, almost every laptop under $800 has 1366x768
That really isn't acceptable.
Why the fuck does this replace every instance of "t b h" with "desu"
Then why do they keep trying to make 4k happen while skipping 1440p?
autistic mods
The disgusting vertical lines on those screens too.... it should be illegal.
8k resolution when?
In 15 years unless some revolutionary tech comes along before that.
people wonder why PC sales are declining. The low end has always been where the majority of sales happen. You can get a shit laptop for $400, or a 10/10 tablet.
I hate tablets, but for entry level users they're objectively better.
tbh
smh
fam
4k is more of a proper upgrade to 1080p, and manufacturers are spending more time mass producing 4k displays so they sell them cheap enough. 1440p was never a mainstream resolution that would have content recorded in or that would show up on TVs
Those fucking spergs
Anything that is 4k on youtube is 1440p too.
...
Protip: Youtube isn't the main video source for normies, hell they don't even know that they can select 1440p on Youtube.
Now broadcast TV will stream in 4K, never seen a broadcast TV stream in 1440p
That was honestly satisfying to read after months of reading "tbqh"s.
Also OP, the S7 is 1440p already
Youtube is just covering all grounds, still no reason to view 1440p video on youtube when 4k is available. Even on a 1080p screen 4k youtube looks better just because of the better bitrate
4k is pointless in 1080p screens, but there is a gain in 1440p
huh?
what's the benefit of 1440 on a 1080 screen
how is that better than 1080p?
4k is not necessarily pointless on a 1080p screen for the same reason why it wouldn't be pointless on a 1440p screen. Better bitrate to get more of the video data to your screen. Both Nvidia and AMD have super sampling modes to run 4k and 1440p games on a 1080p screen for this reason
Higher bitrate, videos look much cleaner.
Past 1440p on 1080p screens bitrate doesn't make almost any difference, unless you are watching HDR content, which no one is.
oh so you're not saying 1440p in general is better but youtube's implementation of 1440 is better just because it's also higher-quality in some non-resolution measurements
High resolution displays make a lot of sense on smartphones because generally you hold a phone closer to you than you would sit from a monitor, jagged edges/aliasing is far easier to spot on a device that's close to your eye.
>implying you can't tell the difference between a 27" 1080p monitor and a 27" 1440p monitor.
This makes sense until you hit a DPI over 400 of which most people will never see a difference. 400 dpi can be done on just a 1080p screen at 5.1 inchs
>how is this allowed?
You look at your phone and your computer display from different distance.
See
desu
desu
> 1366x768
What's wrong with that?
It's a shit resolution because modern programs and web pages become awfully small and cramped when you try to use multiple windows on a screen with that resolution.
> use multiple windows
Guess I won't be having a problem with that then
Yet another nu-male redditcuck infesting Sup Forums.
>>a fucking phone is releasing with a 1440p screen
there are 4k phone screens since like a year or so
nothing new
My LG G3 is 1440p
