Modded Thinkpads are back

I received an email from the people modding older ThinkPads into new machines this morning, it reads like this
>On 2017 we are going to release two new devices, T70 based on T60 and X210 based on X201. Some information about T70 is already available on our Facebook page! Also 4th batch of X62 will be released. So if you have not yet ordered that, stay tuned! Preordering for 4th batch of X62 is going to be available soon. Currently we have still very limited stock on 3th batch of i5-ES X62, so check that you if you want your laptop in fast schedule.
>Many have asked us about mod products like FHD and 2K screens for older Thinkpads. We have noticed you and we will look into bringing those for sale. We will inform about those later.

Who here /hype/?
I missed out on the last batch of i7 X62's, so I can't wait to drop a grand on one.
Here are pictures of the x230 and x330

X201 tablet mods?

any release info on the x210?

I wish they would just sell the motherboards separately.

Why can't a chink just copy the thinkpad design and features to make a proper business notebook?

they literally do. $430 USD for an X62 Mobo
facebook com / lcdfans

thats how I'm going to go with the x210; already have an x200 so I'm just going to do a mobo swap. will have to purchase ram, ssd, and new battery too. Might as well buy a whole new one actually now that I think about it...

>$450 for mobo
>$750 for barebones without ram/ssd/battery
>$50 shipping

Are they serious? That's like 1k for a complete machine.

I can buy a 1st gen Retina MBP for $1100 and it'll blow that the fuck out.

they're custom made in china. those prices are totally reasonable
>1k for a complete machine
yes just like any decent new laptop. You're getting modern specs out of classic thinkpad durability along with the highest quality 4:3 screen available
>1st gen Retina MBP for $1100 and it'll blow that the fuck out.
retarded on two levels; for $1100 you can get a 2015 rMBP and no it will not blow it the fuck out. It'll still have macshit build quality and no user servicability. It will also still have a wide screen, even if it's 16:10.

dont get mad and pissy that they're making computers for people who aren't like you.

>waaah why this device manufactured in extremely low-volumes and catering to incredibly niche market is expensive!!

MUH DICK to be honest, I'd get one if I had the money
We should tell Louis Rossmann about these

>X330 is only FHD, not even 1440p in year of our Lord and Saviour Terry Davis 2k + 17
>they put 15W CPUs instead of 28W with Iris GPUs in laptops that carried 35W combined CPU+PCH TDP
>X330 still has old sandy bridge motherboard
>no thunderbolt
>X210 will have 12 inch garbage display with bezels thicker than your're moms
>they completely ignore gorgeous x300 model and what can be done with it after refresh
I wish I was able to design electronics like those chinks do RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE just end my lief sempaitaichi

>Early in the beginning of 2015 the use of motherboard base circuit X220 / 230 FHD IPS conversion success, then the early 2016 and the success of the summer screen WQHD screen into X220 / 230, more than two years time to users have modified a lot of machines, also set off a 51 Forum Similar to the change in the screen of the boom, there have been friends to imitate, research modified, reminds me of an ad, has been imitated, never been beyond, today we bring Thinkpad x230 the ultimate transformation.
>Thinkpad x230 has two native USB 3.0, backlit keyboard and Thinklight at the same time, dual memory / hard drive, normal voltage CPU, relative to the later models with the mold X230s, x240, x250, x260, x270 class machine is the most worthy of modification One of the machines, X230 maximum support 16G (8X2) memory and I7-3520m CPU for its younger X250 is not much less (of course, low voltage CPU and the new platform in the life and video card or an advantage) Here is a brief introduction to this transformation:
>2) Sharp 2K screen and the new m-SATA / USB 3.0 interface transformation
>Sharp WQHD 2K screen transformation from February 2016 modified, 8bit 16.7m color Sharp screen resolution 2560X1440, relative to the original 1366X768 screen resolution increased by 4 times, the advantage of color Needless to say, Lenovo has always been the style The cost on the computer is more economical. Often use X220 / 230 friends may encounter the palm rest left the problem, I usually put the ExpressCard card slot here a piece of foam board:

I wish they would fix their screen sourcing issues. I really want an x330 or x320.

fuck, someone msg him. i want him to order one and open it up

you're right, an x300 mod would be a far, far better use of their time than modding the x200/x201. It's a legitimate waste of time and money.

>all these things about X series
Nigga gimme some Ts m8, looking forward to the T70.

Why don't they just clone the cases and make a computer company?

Making the case is the hardest part of putting a laptop together.

All the insides are jellybean parts available on-the-shelf to everyone in China.

I thought the hardest part would be designing the compatible motherboard and finding a company to etch and assemble it

Electronics for are jellybean parts available en-masse on the shelf everywhere in China, where they make most of them (or Taiwan).
If they have a source of Intel CPUs, they will have a source of intel chipsets.

Molds are expensive as fuck, molding is expensive as fuck, any half-way decent material to actually make the case from is expensive too.
And if you want a decent plastic you go glass reinforced and that wears molds like crazy.

Even if they got their hands on genuine IBM/Lenovo molds they would be used and worn resulting in a piss-poor quality product.
For an analogy, look at IBM Model M and those Model M made by Unicomp.

Would it be possible to custom build a beast like this, hmm?

When I ordered mine, they offered to put a 1440p display in it(12.5" not 13.3" like Fhd), but I declined because I didn't want to push my battery life any more than Fhd already was.

Designing compatible motherboard is the literally easiest thing, because there are leaked wistron datasheets stored on russian ftps.
Chinks still produce batteries, with circuitry and enclosures pretty well, they also make replacement plastic palmrests, bezels hdd covers and power jacks.
Someone really needs to find old IBM-Lenovo mold and press cad files. Or go the hard way and use precise 3D scanners to digitize full bodies.

You two are literary neo-thinkpad

The whole idea of ThinkPads was low price, the single argument everybody posts VS any laptop, like the MBP
>but the thinkpad is somuch cheaper!

>Someone really needs to find old IBM-Lenovo mold and press cad files.
Well go on then.

Seriously though I want to know.
I like it.
Low price, ha.I do want to get an old X220 and upgrade that baby though.

Which part of "product catering to incredibly niche market" you don't understand you dumb faggot?

Hello there, fellow /r/thinkpadditer. :>)
Did you know that your this thinkpad had higher price than macbook pro on release? 2000 USD to be precise exactly.

Right?

aaaaaawesome.
Time to finally kick out those T60 and X201 LED backlight kits.

>Chink QC
>no western facing market
I rather not. Not at the current board price

>$750 USD for barebone

That's not too bad for a 4:3 machine with 7th gen cpu.

The MacBook is infinite more serviceable than your $500 custom pcb hackjob.

Not even most enterprise x99 boards cost $500

This. The whole appeal of thinkpads began because they were coming off lease and companies where dumping them for sub $200.

X320 looks nice

>The MacBook is infinite more serviceable than your $500 custom pcb hackjob.
OK. Let's see your custom MacBooks then.

You having a stroke dude?

What kind of response is that

thunderbolt 3 soon?

>You having a stroke dude?
Sure as hell hope not.
>What kind of response is that
Give some evidence you have any hands on experience doing anything with a MacBook beyond posting on the facebooks.

>The MacBook is infinite more serviceable than *

how are they sourcing all the cases then? Are they recycling used ones somehow to offer a full build`?

Some are, NOS is still plentiful for more $$.

>MacBook dies (it won't)
>send it to Louis Rossman
>$200 + $10 USPS

>$500 custom shitpad dies

Each model of ThinkPad, at least in the IBM and just after IBM days, was guaranteed to have new replacement parts available for a full ten years after introduction. There are a *ton* of leftover new parts for all these old machines.

did you know that this thinkpad had higher price than macbook pro on release?
2375 USD to be precise exactly.
(not even adjusted for inflation)

>>MacBook dies (it won't)
stopped reading there

>The whole idea of ThinkPads was low price
[citation needed]

the Chinese probably have huge amounts of recycled older hardware so it makes it easier to source
did not know that
I miss the pre planned obsolescence consumertard days

Pretty cool but I'm happy with my T450s, FHD IPS panel.

>>MacBook dies (it won't)
>>send it to Louis Rossman
If it won't, why that smelly guido kike is still in the business?

checkmate

...

>highest quality 4:3 screen available
How about just getting one of the highest quality laptop screens period? I don't care about shitpad design, I want a fantastic high resolution screen.

...

14" with 2880x1800 OLED please

>not 14" A4

As a original thinkpad user and funder of thinkpad general I hope you neo-thinkpad nazis die. Why?
You are turning the machines into memes and falseflagging macfags to feed your hot memes, turning this board into shitpost.

And two, you are making the online sellers raise the prices on thinkpads because now every 12yo retard wants one.

You are welcome to our general if you really care about thinkpads and want to have decent talk and feedback instead of your reddit-tier thinkpad memes.

>You are welcome to our general if you really care about thinkpads and want to have decent talk and feedback instead of your reddit-tier thinkpad memes.
As a lover of hardcore thinkpad modding *and* a lover of thinkpad memes, you can half go die in a fire. Thanks.

An A4 laptop screen that could be tilted by 90 degrees would be amazingly awesome

Why? Too stupid and uneducated to be usefull inside our general?

Don't worry, we are sure about being able to educate your brain.

>Why? Too stupid and uneducated to be usefull inside our general?
No, because /tpg/ does not belong to you. Lecture me when you've replaced a Core2Duo in an X-series, and I may or may not listen. Thanks.

Somebody doesn't have a real argument here.
Lecture me when you've used your brain and, I may or may not reply to you again. Thanks.

>Somebody doesn't have a real argument here.
I don't need to have one. You want me to go away. That's nice. How about no?
>Lecture me when you've used your brain and, I may or may not reply to you again. Thanks.
Somebody's mighty full of himself.

Looks like your brain is factory sealed. Might want to sell it on eBay since you won't be giving it any use.

I thought you weren't going to reply any more.

Consider it charity.

Mm hmm. Show us a mod you've done.

I can't tell which one of you two is more autistic.

I think the one saying "stay out of our thread" takes the cake, though.

Not autistic. And confirmed not ADHD so I can't get the fun drugs either :-(
Bored as hell, a little drunk, waiting for some silicone to dry so I can get back to soldering leads.

>tfw no qt T50 mobo for my sexy but slow as fuck and bad fan T43

I thought the T50 got abandoned due to problems.

ITT: autistic weeb manchildren drooling over an obvious shill

gg retards

It's
"gg, retards"

how can 51nb be shilling on Sup Forums when they don't even sell outside of China?

I would drop up to $1500 on a T70 if it also includes a Thunderbolt 3 port and has a non-shitty screen.

GOD BLESS CHINA

They're just mobos using existing stock screens. The largest that came in a T60 was the QXGA 15".

nah it was 1600x1200

>/r/thinkpadgeneral: the post
forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=77733

sorry, right, I meant the largest stock screen you could put in was the QXGA, which is from the R-series.

So I understand from that picture that FAT neckbeards prefer TICC laptops and they are very insecure of what you think of their body?

>literary every "kek MacBook is so much better then the ThinkPad" thread

"Macshit build quality" hahahahh you're using a fucking plastic chinkpad how delusional can you be

99% he services user faults Apple does not cover

but there were faulty models of MacBooks by Apple, no joke

Sup Forums is more than 1 person

What do you want? Except the normal battery, memory, storage, etc

yet that's the number one excuse by ThinkPad enthusiasts

>x60s with wider and body to fit 12.9" 4:3 2732x2048 screen from ipad pro, a bit wider keyboard and a biiiiiiig touchpad

wallpaper?

At least they've learned to shill products that Sup Forums actually wants.

Thanks, user

Why would you even need a custom MscBook? The mid-2012 MBPs outperform even today's T series.

>x200
>T60
>plastic
why don't you slit your wrists within the next 15 minutes? please?
>4:3 aspect ratio
>shitpad design
the guy before you left the razors sharp. you should check them out
>The MacBook is infinite more serviceable than your $500 custom pcb hackjob.
you don't need to kill yourself, you'll be in hell for lying this abhorrently

I know you're falseflagging, but imagine believing this

falsefagging?

is it possible to do the same concept as these but with a titanium powerbook?

>only one inch thick
