My strangest encounter in Japan happened at night. We had just finished eating at some pizza restaurant that wasn't a pizza restaurant (I have no idea what the things where called, but they looked like pizzas and they shoved all sorts of crap onto them) and where on our way back to base. The street right outside the base was full of closed shops and half way down was this young fellow wearing a black tux with coat tails. He was wearing some white gloves, and had a box with a long pole on the bottom of it. He didn't speak english and we didn't speak japanese, so we could not figure out what the guy was doing.
