HD600.

Best budget headphones coming through.

Fidelio X2 are objectively better than the HD600/650

autosmo floaties coming through

New thread, new posts.

Post aesthetically comfy headphones.

They're really not.

Linking my post for the user that was modding his T50rp mkiii

is shit.

Finished that sentence for you.

Haha. You're funny.

Fidelio X2
>better comfort
>better build quality
>better cable
>won't snap

HD600/650
>muh sound signature

You sennheiser shills and your beliefs. Makes me laugh every single time

Are these headphones the new meme headphone?

Well, they are the best budget headphones for under $100, user.

Just the same 2-3 people that shill the fuck out of that headphone

They're indeed shilled often.
However, they're comfy, sound good, and are a good introduction to open headphones for plebs.

For the price, it's hard to find a better value.

>tfw still forced to use my bose quiet comfort 35s because poverty parents saved up and thought i would like them

They're not terrible, and noise cancelling is cool

Why dont you giving me bunga bunga yes

Bunga bunga yes

Mmmmmmm yes bunga bunga is good yes yes yes

Could've been worse. You could have gotten Skullcandy/Beats/Turtle Beach shit.

...

...

weeb fuck off please

They comfy

What are a few upgrades from 668B's within $200 with a similar sound signature? I was kind of debating between K712/K7XX, DT880's, or DT990's.

we welcome weebs on Sup Forums

990's are the closest to 668b's sound sig
K7XX second
880's if you want less low end and softer highs

X2's are also an option if you want more mids

I'm also looking for a portable IEM/headphone when commuting to/from school and for studying within $50. Looking at Headroom's measurements, PortaPros/KCS75's look very close to 668B's with less treble. I don't mind if they don't isolate or if they're not too comfy, I'll be wearing them for more than 3 hours.

Have your HM5s started to soften out a bit?

> Wear my K550s outside
> Become known as the "helmet guy" around campus
Remember to buy IEMs so you don't look like a dork.
I learned the hard way

I remember when that was first posted. I wouldn't give a shit about what people think because they're ego's up their ass. Rock out whatever headphones you want. I cringe seeing people around campus with over ear Beats.

>whatever headphones you want
>EXCEPT BEATS REEEEEEEEE

Well theyre ignorant garbage for ~$220

>Having random people around campus see you enough to give you a nickname
>Not going to a gigantic university where you can do whatever the shit you want because no one's going to recognize you
The M50 meme is strong where I go to.

>Been using over-ear headphones my entire life
>friend recommend me a on-ear headphone
>immediate discomfort the moment I put it on
>friend says he has no problems
>turns out it's because of my glasses

Only took me 20 years to find out why I hate on-ear

Is Koss Porta pro worth it?

Depends on your use case and budget, but almost always they're not.

Tyll here. You guys should really upgrade your cables

Glasses don't really make on-ears uncomfortable. They tend to be more uncomfortable than over ears just by design

the less your ear touches the pad the better.

Get a sportapro if you don't want to look like an ayy lmao and need it for on the go. Otherwise look at superlux/tascam/isk headphones which can be had for around the same price.

...

On-ears push the ears into the frames really hard
It gives me headaches in prolonged use
And the moment I take glasses off everything feels fine

since they've been reduced to 55 it's hard to find things that beat them

before that, they were just a sidegrade to the 558/598 if you wanted treble

>Going outside will full size headphones at all

I have 598's on my head right, what do you have on your head

Beyer DT250-250

>so tsundere
I'll have to start saying this whenever someone complains about weebs or anime

because it's a fashion accessory that's hugely overpriced and is bought for nothing than that

it's the same as cringing when you see someone with an apple laptop

No

This. Beats are the headphone equivalent of Macbook hipsters who think paying a premium for device makes them of superior social status.

In other words people use Beats as a social accessory in the same way Applefags try to use Apple tech as fashion accessories.

Can't wait for the Hugo chord 2 to pair it with kse1500

Beats improve masively since Apple bought them, competive to senheiser even.

I don't disagree but it still not untrue. The original Beats Pro were decent sounding but overpriced by about 2x with questionable build quality.

HD600. Bliss.

Harman How to Listen

One has to wonder how do people end up with these kinds of setups.

Disposable income and curiosity or discerning tastes?

Is there some sort of tierlist of headphone manufacturers?

It's better to judge headphones on their individual merits than by the manufacturer.

>tfw if I had the option I would chose speakers over headphones 9 times out of 10

I hope to one day own my own house with a good set of speakers where I can play music and not worry about bothering my neighbors.

Imagine just freely walking around listening to albums. One of these days, one of these days.

Time to buy new headphones, salary is in!

Closed preferably, those gonna be office headphones
>Comfort level
One of most important factors. As much as I can. Gonna wear them for hours at time.

KSC75, Etymotic HF5, Superlux 668B, VE Monks

Either IEM or closed, not really fussy, but noise cancellation is important

>Comfort
Not too important, but they'll be used mostly in the gym so it'd be good if they're a secure fit. I find that most IEMS stay in regardless of how cheap/shitty they are if you use the right sized soft rubber bit

>Sound
Neutral or V shaped

>Past headphones
$2.50 shitty IEMS from kmart
Sennheiser CX685, muffled as shit

Also if they're full sized it'd be good if the pads are removable and washable

Thanks dudes

Really dumb question that I know is going to piss off some audiophiles out there, but if I were to invest in a good pair of headphones and a mixer, can I achieve that meme 7.1 virtual sound you would hear in a gayming headset?

I'm not using these for gaming, but I'm so used to hearing everything 7.1 virtual sound enabled, that I think not having that feature would bother me. I've had my piece of shit headset since I was in highschool and I want it to die already.

No one willingly prefers headphones over speakers.

Just bought HD598SE. This thing doesnt need an amp, right?

I do since I don't want my neighbours to hear when I play eroges or watch porn.

You can do it with software. I think Razer offers one. Probably some others do as well. Most software based ones have latency issues in my experience, but I havent tested too much. Could be ones that dont. You can also purchase an internal soundcard which offers virtual surround.

Though if it is a digital mixer [as in it uses USB to connect to your PC], you cant use the soundcard based one. Only software. If it is an analogue mixer, then you can use the soundcard.

Correct.

Is it true that the HD600s sound better than the 650s? The 650s are sitting on my head and I can't imagine it getting much better than this

Depends on preference. I like 600's more, some don't. 600's have more forward highs, and less midbass. Overall I feel a more neutral sound sig, though not as smooth as the 650's.

>neighbours
Hence why I said willingly. Wouldn't you want to blast your porn games as loud as you want if you had no one else around you for a mile?

Hmm okay, I'm terrified of highs. The 650s are the only set of cans that haven't caused me to cringe during songs

Then you may not like 600's as much. Though the difference is quite small.

Thanks, I wish Audio-Stores were more common here, from what I've seen it's a 6 hour flight to the closest store that lets you go in and demo headphones.

Right now at least it's just ordering headphones after reading as many reviews as possible and hoping for the best

How the hell is it a 6 hour flight? I takes less than that get across the entirety of Australia by plane.

Are you like in an abandoned part of Russia or something?

Half way across Australia over to NZ...

I'm fairly sure he's talking about a scenario where your house is miles away from anyone else

Guys, I'm eying AKG k550 MK II very hard at the moment. Is this a good purchase? Seems to have really good reviews, is affordable and very easy to drive.
Home use, but I don't mind closed, My current phones are closed anyway and I have speakers for when I get tired of headphones.
Also how is comfort?
Would appreciate any input from people who own/owned/tried those cans.

Haven't seen the Tyll meme in a while.

my new portable setup, haven't done a whole lot of listening yet but i'm liking it so far.

> tfw my x3ii has a dent in one corner
I was so fucking tired I just collapsed on my bed, and when I got cold and reached for my blanket and pulled it the player flew across the room.
Still works fine, but that chip/dent triggers my autism

>K550
I would never recommend this to anyone, no matter what their taste is. It's "meant" to have strong bass and treble, but it doesn't do that in practice.
The headphone is poorly designed, both in the earpads and leak susceptibility. There is a large variation in the low end response between listeners, or even the same listener.

>how is comfort?
Comfort is okay, the headphone frame is fairly large, suited to my large head. Pads are not form fitting, compounding sound issues.

Anyone ever taken apart their HD6x0's? I'm too pussy to take out the driver but when I changed my ear pads, I noticed a really weird metal mesh in front of the ear cups (indicated in pic related). What does that alien-looking mesh do? I don't think it's connected electrically to anything (or maybe it is?!?).

Why the fuck does it look so weird?

Should I crossfeed?

the fuck mesh are you talking about?

sorry, uploaded unmodified pic.

Oh, that's the backing paper. Almost all headphones have it. Its used for tuning the sound.

it's metal though. I've looked at it closely. it's like tiny wires or something... I think it's aluminum.

Pretty sure its cotton.

Why does this bother you so much?

he thinks it's an alien device to brainwash him

muh warm sound

>Anyone ever taken apart their HD6x0's?
Because you asked, I just did it right now. I also put it back together and did it again.
Other than the springs, the design makes it really, really easy to do it without any tools.

>What does that alien-looking mesh do?
Airflow restriction. Slight damping effect as well.
>it's like tiny wires
They switched from a silky material to the mesh. Same purpose.

can anyone tell me what the deal with the green bar and the grey bar is?
is it something to do with peaking?

i have three different volume pools, (media player, windows itself and the usb audio device) which all have an effect on the green bar

i'm very curious to what it means

Peak meter. Not sure why there are two different colours though.

green is audible volume
grey is volume at 100% on that specific slider

>wintoddler
install a real OS, kid.

>Other than the springs, the design makes it really, really easy to do it without any tools.
Yeah, but I don't wanna fuck it up. Don't wanna deal with customer service and wait for a month before thye fix it... fi I fuck up.

>They switched from a silky material to the mesh. Same purpose.
interesting. I wonder how they arrived at that mesh design...

this wasn't a funny post at all

Thank you, that's interesting. I see very mixed opinions about those, some praise them as best thing to ever happen at this price, some call it chink garbage with no bass.
What about AKG k702? Very similar price point and open. Would get fiio e10k to drive them. Seems pretty decent to me.
By the way I'm aware that k7xx is on massdrop sale right now, however since I'm in EU k7xx is garbage deal for me, would have to pay crapload in customs and shipping.

Not user, but how are the mids?
