I tried a dell xps 13 before and it was utter shit, the plastic under the keys bent with presses. I find the keyboard of the older macbook pro's tolerable so I figure it should be an upgrade for me.

The thinkpad meme was about older thinkpads user. They're great for enthusiasts because you get second hand ones for cheap which run well, and it's assumed on Sup Forums that you're capable of, and will enjoy fixing issues anyway.

Modern thinkpads still hold advantages over competitors in certain aspects, such as maybe keyboard, but overall they're nothing special. Though I'd have to wonder how poorly your employees treat their machines, even if they don't boast "muh IBM thinkpad durability" they're still pretty solid. Normies are going to treat apple shit better as well just because of the halo effect.

the keyboard is great apart from the key placement and function keys. it does not flex and it feels nice. i still prefer the old one though.

Models like the T420 are still great value if all you want to do on them is shitpost. You're going to struggle to convince any fans of them otherwise when they don't care about shit like portability in the first place, unfortunately modern laptops haven't enjoyed overly significant improvements since outside of that.

X230 user here, use it on the go along with newer macbooks and it is still a great ultrabook, thick but that only means better cooled

They seem to be slowly moving onto the W520 and W530 now, since they're better in every way but price when you're not taking them anywhere anyway.

Almost anything will outperform a MBP of the same generation just from not having retarded cooling. The X230 is a pretty good compromise between good performance and form factor, I only wish you could get a decent resolution on it without chinky mods.

The resolution is fine, I mean it is not 768p on a 15.6" and for 12" the DPI is high enough, I'll probably upgrade to IPS soon but I haven't searched enough to find a decent panel for ~60€.
The portability is God tier, and today i'm getting another 4GB of ram for dual channel, let's see how will benefit the iGPU

I love my X260 chiclet keyboard. My friend has an X220 and although it's nothing like the old Thinkpad kb, it certainly feels great to type on.

Honestly a better deal, cost me almost half as much as the X1 would and has an actual dedicaded Nvidia Quadro and very similar CPU, RAM is extendable so none issue (not sure why you'd even need more than 8 for a goddamn laptop anyways).

If you can still change it i'll take that, or hell even the 460. Both cheaper and just as good options (the higher res screen takes a toll on battery anyways)
