Apollo has less leechers than Redacted, how is it comfy? It's even harder to build ratio nowadays. Good thing the toolbox is freeleech, as opposed to RED's neutral leech, so you can get some buffer from it.
William Russell
ignore him user, it's a good op didn't kyle brag about spamming /ptg/ with nala crap on apollo irc?
Liam Russell
>how is it comfy
staff aren't catshit, for one!

Cooper Turner

Samuel Edwards
>Obviously tracker talk is gonna win, it has an invite channel and actual staff on trackers.
How do I join?
Justin Scott

I'll have to mess with it so you can use bittorrent and the internet at the same time" >they say it's not throttling and try to explain it away like it's some feature that normal people need >internet isn't throttled anymore Fucking kikes.

Carson Jones
How does changing a port produce mustard gas? Fucking retard
Parker Cooper
Cross-seeding an unsnatched torrent should be a bannable offense
Nolan Barnes
t. ratiocuck
Logan Powell
You obviously aren't a network technician. Any sane person knows it triggers the chemical mix that is built into every network card. Only criminals need to use ports that high.
Joseph Anderson
I don't know if ratio-less is the way to go per se, but it's certainly a flawed system for the aforementioned reason.
I think that a system where you're required to have a certain amount available at all times as opposed to a total quantity uploaded over time would be stronger. For example, some sites give you a certain amount (say, 5 GB) that you can download without your ratio or lack thereof being an issue but after you pass that cap unless you're at 1 or higher your leeching privileges are revoked until your ratio balances out. That can take a year or more if your tastes are esoteric.
So now instead of having 6 seeders for some obscure album that came out this week there are only going to be 5 because I'm not allowed to download it. I'm probably not alone either. Maybe that torrent would have 10 or 20 seeders if the rules were different.
My torrents seed forever. I rarely, if ever, delete anything and with the exception of when I needed to take my laptop in for repair my rig is online 24/7. I have thousands upon thousands of hours of seeding time for my files. Which is how it should be. If you took it, you must share it. That's how this all works.
Daniel Smith
>banning the best ptg person also stay jelly :o)
Daniel Jackson
Perhaps a viable and more fair alternative to the ratio system would take the availability of what is leeched in consideration when assessing a member's privileges on a tracker. Maybe a ratio-like system where from a base requirement (say, 5 GB after the 5 GB cap is passed) you need to be seeding at least half of what you've taken in addition to the base amount. For example, if you've downloaded 10 GB you must have at least 7.5 GB available and seeding in order to maintain your leeching privileges. You may not have actually uploaded a total of 7.5 GB, but it is available.
This would curtail people who hit and run and negatively affect the community on the tracker and encourage those to collect whatever suits their tastes without fear of maintaining an upload ratio provided that they make what they've taken available for anyone else who may want that torrent. Everybody wins. The members take what they like and make it available for the next. The more the merrier, that's how torrents work. It sucks when there's only 6 seeders. It's not so bad when there's 20. It's fucking rad when there's 100 or more.
It's not necessarily important that you've uploaded tens or hundreds of gigs, what is important is that those tens or hundreds of gigs that you've taken are available to everyone. If you don't share, that's unfair, and abusers of what I think is a very fair system get tossed from the site while someone who has downloaded a 700 MB flac of some new band barely known outside of their area code doesn't have to worry about the fact that it's going to take six years for that file to be 1:1 because they are going to share it for that long anyway while collecting more obscurities like it and making them available for anybody who wants them.

Is Em*****um worth it? I pretty much only interested in audios.

Now that the dust has settled, what's the general consensus on Apollo vs RED?
Owen Collins
BTN! Neither! Both are fucked in their own special way
Ian Moore
via pornbay
both are shit
Juan Foster
what is the best/fastest/easiest way to get announces of btn
Liam Hernandez
PTP and BTN both have invite threads.
Aaron Myers
I think they have some kind of api, never used it though.
Thanks. It seems like both sites are doing relatively well. Seems like it's easier to get upload on RED now than it was in the beginning.
Parker Long
What does that mean? IRC is still the fastest way to get announce, it is certainly faster than rss
Noah Kelly
where does ipt recruit?
Juan Richardson
>no invites channel >no danny top curry
James Flores
yeah, pretty much. both sites have done really well in only 3 months. they've also taken a different approach which is interesting. APL have gone for a soft economy and RED a hard one.
Kevin Allen
saintyawn will lose all his trackers any day soon
Thomas Smith
Doubt it
Landon Peterson
holy shit. sensible, considered, reasonable discourse on red/apl? how will /ptg/ ever recover?
