Oops, posted at the end of the last thread.
Hey guys, first time stopping by
This was my dads TAG Heuer, he just broke up with my stepmom now and needs some money so I bought it from him for $1200.
It's a lot but feels pretty cool having my first real luxury watch.
What do you think?
Given the poorly copied dial and weird looking lugs, maybe. But the too small sub-seconds is a design flaw that Nomos made on their own watch, not just something that shows up on fakes.
Oops :^)
Me too
"It was my dad's" is pretty much the best excuse to wear any particular watch, so you've got that going for you. But what the fuck is that strap? Jesus.
If it had the same subdial layout and movement as the original I'd have bought one already. That and it being 45mm case is a turn off.
First for the GOAT lcd quartz watch.
Also, this picture shows the chronograph function and shows how the time of day remains displayed while in the alarm, chrono or timer modes.
Do you own any non plaid shirts?
You still can't tell? Hint: Nomos don't have mineral crystals and exhibit a green hue at the edges
That strap is fucking hilarious
...
>Buy Nomos shitter
>Can't tell the difference between a $10 ali express qurtz shitter and your watch
This is why you don't buy dogshit.
Probably the fake Nomos poster trying to gauge how it looks
Turn the watch around and you'll see.
Also finishing.
Have you ever held a NOMOS?
Meme watch reporting in.
Thinking of getting a seagull 1963 since my komandirskie is finicky as fuck
Stronk Chinese engineering or alibaba tier? Getting from watchunique
Best bang for your buck
>my commie shitter is bad so I'm going to get another commie shitter
My friend...
>not an orient
damn you wrecked that watch bro
My brother did, we traded watches cause I liked his better and he liked mine more.
Have any of you ever directly purchased from abroad before? I just want to know what to expect in regards to shipping time and if something could happen to this en route. Creation watch wants $87 for the snkl41, but you can order directly from japan with free shipping for $58 (white face), and $67 (blue face)
Also, which one?
...
The blue face one doesn't know if it's dressy or casual. Go for the white face one.
Yes, but since it triggered some user I've been trying to dig up every plaid shirt I own for these pics.
So here's the thing with 1963's... QC is their downfall. I don't know what it is but apparently the quality control is just abysmal. So what you need to know is that if you're lucky you will get a piece that keeps decent time and after 2 months still has chronograph features working (some people claim that their watch hands stop resetting properly). If you get a shit one it'll break by clapping as actually happened in a thread on WUS. So your call. Also be aware if you're buying Thomas watch or an original seagull one
Charge your battery fag
I still haven't been able to find one on Yahoo auctions or Rakuten
It's hard when you don't leave the house
I might have to change the battery in this one, it doesn't seem to get up to three bars even left in direct sunlight.
Why don't you leave the house
Thomas and Ed are awesome btw
If you're buying a watch they QC'ed, you're good.
>mfw I'm on a list for a new racing chrono, made by Thomas and Ed, based on the 1963 case (limited to 40 pieces, each movement/case QC'ed by Thomas and Ed)
Should I go panda dial or normal 1963
Panda dial doesn't look much like the original
Normal, acrylic, 38mm, display caseback w/o logo
Tell me about Tisell
>RE SIST ANT.jpg
best bang for your buck affordables
sapphire, good movements, nice finish
My new Omega Cosmic. Running +60s/d and a 175 amplitude so going in for service two days after arrival, but wearing the hell out of it until then.
> 1 Z 27 4 5 || 7 10 = 10 2
I'm not even mad
Bad
You'd better pray your watchmaker is a vintage Omega specialist.
If I recall correctly, Cosmic's have one piece cases that can only be opened by blowing compressed air into the case via the crown tube, at great risk of damaging the movement, dial and hands.
My local watchmaker generally refuses to work on Cosmics for this reason.
Replica watches with waterproofing and shitty branding
I cant remember the movement they have.
I think its a miyota 9015 which is 28k beats/hr. I have a watch by an off brand with the same movement and its fantastic.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me with your little wrists? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Patek Philippe Ecole d'Horlogerie, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret meetings in Genèva, and I have over 300 confirmed NATOs.
jesus why can't it ever be simple
thanks for the heads up - don't suppose you know a good vintage omega specialist in NYC
I like them.
>can only be opened by blowing compressed air into the case via the crown tube, at great risk of damaging the movement, dial and hands.
wtf
Shouldn't you be able to hold the case down & use some powerful suction to lift the crystal off?
>use some powerful suction

So I am trying to buy a watch simply from selling old MTG cards which i collected as a kid. I currently have a Casio Wavescepter, an Orient Esteem that was gifted to me, and a Sinn 556i.
Hopefully I should have around $800 Canabucks when i finish selling some of these off, what is a good manual winder in that price range? If any. Trying to pad out the collection as I already have a dress watch, casio, and sinn556 as my everyday. Maybe a Chrono? I like watches that have a feature or interesting technology.
Seagull 1963?
Seagull M163S?
Perpetual?
Hmm they do fit the description I guess but it leaves a lot of budget left. I know manual wind has a lot less selection
tfw regret
Are there any american watch companies that sell stuff for
You could up your budget and get a Celadon?
Beijing Beihai is also in the your ballpark
I don't think you can get anything interesting from Orient or Seiko at this pricepoint.
Invicta?
Seiko SARX
Damn it's all chinese isn't it.
Yes
>cases that can only be opened by blowing compressed air into the case via the crown tube
>his watch shop when
I doubt there are even any Imperials left user. When I got mine there were two serial numbers (of 50) to choose from. That was several months ago.
Looks like a simple crystal grabber will take this watch apart - not sure why compressed air would be needed.
Reminder Seiko Dolce is an amazing quartz. Nineball isn't around much today are they?
Right as I post they show up cool am I a wizard
Man Massdrop is fucking stale recently.
>recently
The watches on there are 99% dogshit. Maybe you'll get a seiko 5 (for more than you'd pay elsewhere) or a junghans max bill.
Devon?
Keaton Myrick?
Shinola?
S&B?
One time they had a nice presage but it was limited to 20 units total which is retarded. I can hope for a breakthrough one day.
Nixon?
...
...
Redpill me on Nixon
>shinola
Dogshit fashion brand with 3 cent movements thrown in a huge case and charging hundreds of freedombux. That should be obvious at first glance.
So like Swatch, Armani and Weiss then?
Is the Tisell the only good option for a pilot watch for under $150?
>Tisell
>good option
Weiss is at least somewhat respectable. Nixon, fossil, armani, skagen, etc are all just pleb watches for normies who don't know shit.
>The name tho
Hope you don't become the de facto laughing stock of the office
It's not even branded. At least it'd be better than wearing a 35-37mm Malaysian assembled Seiko 5.
Try AVI-8
So are there any actual Respectable English/American watch manufacturer comparable to the Swiss and Chinks/Nips?
RGM. Not cheap though.
>$3.5K for a Zenith Pilot 20 or $7k and waiting for a RGM that looks the same
Tough choice.
yes. most of the other passable options are $250 or so at minimum I think.
What? Swatch owns everything from complete dogshit to extremely fine pieces. Armani is just a logo put on by a Chinese factory, and Weiss is one of the best attempts at American watchmaking in recent history.
It would have been hard to pick 3 more dissimilar companies.
fuck off ninegag
tfw much too poor for a Weiss.
tfw swatch owns hamilton.
tfw no decent american watches at competitive prices
vintage.
Vintage is cool and all, but so are new watches.
Looking for something that I can pass off to my son or grandkids in 30-50 years.
Get an enamel dial watch
You can save up if you want something to pass down.
Can you handle a 42mm watch?
Doubtable, wrist is only about 6.25 inches.
Also part this is a graduation gift, mostly.
I've thought about going with Seiko, but most of their stuff under $500 isn't very inspiring.
Don't get anything that is retardedly expensive to fix/maintain like a tourbillon or a Patek
lol fuck that, man.
I've considered high-end quartz just for cost reasons.
Meteorite dial watch?
