Im trying to record using OBS, but I get black screen...

Im trying to record using OBS, but I get black screen. I did everything Youtube and Google recommended but nothing worked.
An user recommended I record the display, but it records at 15 fps, and I need to capture single windows. What do I do?

Shameless self bump

What type of window are you recording? Pic says you're using Game Capture.

Use Window Capture set to Outer if you want the entire window.

^this gentleman has shown you your failure, get to it, faggot.

the gamecapture setting is if you're using a capturecard. like an ElShito, and you're not, you're trying to record a window.

A ygo simulator game called Dev Pro.
Im using a HP Laptop with Nvidia GeForce 930M

run as administrator you fucking dicknugget

it wont capture unless you full screen if its a full screen game.

Firstly, update your OBS to Studio. That pic is the old as hell version. You should be on 18.0.0 right now

Secondly go to Sources and add a Window Capture and set it to the games exe (needs to be running to see it)

also make sure you downloaded and are using OSB /STUDIO/ and not just OBS as OBS has been depreciated and OBS studio is the only software currently getting new updates.

Sup Forums hivemind activated

Already did, nothing changed.
It works Maximized and minimized. Theres no change there.
Im Using the latest OBS studio. Image is from google. In youtube everyone was using Game Capture instead of Windows Capture. Wont that slow down the FPS?

No? I Window Capture everything at 60 FPS.

>HP Laptop with Nvidia GeForce 930M

lol good luck, you probably wont get 60fps from anything but minesweeper.

Window Capture confirmed for Black Screen as well.

Do you use Kaspersky? It resulted in Game and Window capture being black

Current situation: Image.

No, I use Avast.

>17.0.2

Update

hey at least youre getting 60fps on that black screen. sometimes you gotta fullscreen unfullscreen your window to fix this. alt+enter

Can you test it by just recording your desktop for now?

ok. I downloaded it 3 days ago, but I'm downloading the newer version now.
Seriously?

Yesterday, I tried to Record Display, and It recorded at 15 fps. Today it just records black screen like all the other options.
It's worth mentioning that Window Capture doesnt even show me the option of the game I'm trying to record.

does your laptop also have integrated graphics?
if so, make sure you're running OBS on your dedicated GPU
then do what others are telling you about the sources

i've had this issue before

It does also have integrated graphics. How do I make sure of that?

>What do I do?
Read the sticky then delete your thread.

Well, it seems to be already running on your nvidia gpu but you can always make sure by right clicking on your OBS shortcut and there should be an option to choose a gpu. I'd take a screenshot but I'm not on my windows laptop at the moment.

Then either Game or window capture should work if your software is also running on your Nvidia GPU (you can make sure by selecting the GPU when launching). That's how I got mine to work.

Go to the OBS settings for OUTPUT and change the encoder, You'll probably want to use the intel GPU if you can since you want the Nvidia GPU for gaming. You dont want software encoding however as your CPU isnt powerful enough.

Also, i use display capture not screen capture.

You mean this? I started it with the option above and nothing changed.

Sorry, change it to what?.

quicksync is intel's GPU

NVENC is your Nvidia GPU

x264 is software which uses the CPU.

Everything I have is up to date.

well what are your recording settings

These?

no, the output page previously had three tabs

>streaming
>recording
>audio

what are your recording settings since you seem to want to record not stream.

change from game capture to display capture.

Display works On and Off. Mostly off in Black Screen.

this image

that just says the codec is set in the stream tab

To what do I set it then? The 3 options are: Nvenc 264, Quicksynch264 and x264

nvenc may be fastest if you have an nvidia gpu
quicksync may be fastest if you have an intel cpu
x264 is a software encoder which will work anywhere

Change the bitrate. 20000 is wayyyy too high.

Try 3000.

20Mbps is already pretty minimal when using high speed settings, 3Mbps would look like ass

Changed from 2500 to 3000, nothing happened.
Tried all 3 options, nothing happened in either.

Faggot

I give up. I'll try again an other day when I have more willpower.

There is absolutely no reason to use an abysmal bitrate like that for local recording.

ffmpeg son.

Add a game capture but go back to Options > Hot keys and set one for hook capture. So whenever you go back to your game, press your hotkey and it hooks to whatever your active game is. I like using the hot key method than the droplist method because it's more fool proof. Spam the hot key whenever you're paranoid if you forgot to set your game.

Fall back order:
>Game capture
>Window capture (weird games, browsers, media players, etc.)
>Monitor capture

Brain dead retard. Video device capture is for capture cards.
