If the precolumbian Mesoamerican had beasts of burden in the form of llamas and alpacas, and they had the wheel, how come they never combined the two?

native-languages.org/legends.htm

I love this shit, according to my dad I have the protection of a guy known as Chakapew, apparently he is one of the few people able to outright kill a wendigo, though we call it a witiko. Bit of a story as to how I got that protection and I don't want to blog, unless someone wants to hear it.

llama's and alpacas are the worst possible animal for beasts of burden, like say you had five relatively heavy sacks, you would need 10 llamas to carry them for you and even then they are liable to stop and whine. That and the roads were not exactly designed for wheels since they were mostly on hillsides and were carved as steps.

Why are Pimas the worst tribe?

Tell us about the indigo story and also your protection

No, that'd be Blackfoot or Soiux.

*wendigo

>tfw really like na indian culture and lifestyle
>tfw don't hate them like most people
>Tfw most of them in my city are scummy fuck
>tfw no indian-british culture werid mixed shit civilization

anyway teach me about your religions and spirituality

Anglo-Metis
Eh, they aren't all that spectacular. Its interesting but all cultures are interesting, people romanticise north American natives though.

I support people who do ghost dances, sweat lodges (we have an inipi out in the back of our property) and other ceremonies.

Honestly it's like their church, nothing too spectacular. But then again when I lived with a bunch of Santeria practioners who got into possession and sacrificed chickens/goats I felt the same way.

Well my tribe says that the witiko is a man who has been driven insane due to devouring their spirit guide. They wind up becoming nigh unkillable but will eat any and all meat they can get their hands on even their own fingers and lips. Well as I have been told there was a man called Chakapew who is a mythical figure who was able to accomplish feats like using a snare to capture the sun. That and apparantly he can withstand the scream of a witiko which is said to be so terrifying that you will freeze where you stand. After bypassing it's scream he killed it by chopping it's head off with the blunt end of his axe and buried it between it's legs where it fell. Afterwards the witiko got up and could no longer find his head and was doomed to wander the world forever without it unable to harm anybody else.

My story is that when I was an infant I got sick as fuck for 13 days and the doctors said they could only 'make him comfortable' and it is pretty clear what they meant by that. Well my parents went to see a medicine man who said that he would summon a spirit to save and protect me from whatever it was that was killing me. The very next day I recovered fully and I think I went home either that very same day or a couple days after that for observation.

Well all animals have symbolic meaning, names and words impact your surroundings, listen with your heart, and don't whistle in the dark
10000/10 stories m8, good luck to you. My dad always told me stories about how he was attracted by a Sasquatch, pretty spoopy.

*Attacked
Jesus

Got details on that? I was never told that much about sasquatch aside from how tall they were.

Yeah, the story goes like this:
My dad is about ten or so, traveling with his family to see his aunt who lives around White Pass. Now, there's not enough places to sleep in auntie's trailer, so his dad and sisters sleep inside while he and his mom decide to sleep in the back of the truck that has one of those lid things over it. It's late at night and my dad can't sleep because his mom keeps having seizers, when two big figures start circling the truck. He tries to keep his mother quiet while she's having seizers because he thinks these might be bears, but their posture and shadows look more like giant men. Suddenly, one starts thrashing the back of the truck up and down, soon after the other one starts at the front. So his mother's having seizures while this truck is being violently thrashed up and down for a good long while and then he starts hearing weird howling/screaming until suddenly it stops. He couldn't sleep that night and the next morning there where no foot prints (and bears leave prints), just broken tree branches everywhere. When he told what happened they didn't believe him at first until his mother told that in her seizures she had dreams about tree like people surrounding them. To this very day, every year he asks his parents if they where playing a prank on him, and the answer is still no.

Freaky shit man, I wish I had other stories to tell but I only got a couple of really short ones.

They are pretty much the same thing, two of my older siblings were taking the wrong path in life and mindlessly partying constantly. Well one night my older brother saw what looked like a birdman standing outside of the party shack staring at him, my older brother stopped partying and is now studying robotics. My older sister was doing the same thing only she saw, a three dimensional shadow of a person that actually tried to get into the house. She now runs her own small business.

Daily reminder Amerindians were our first non-European allies and now, their "successors" are our best mates

PEOPLE FROM AMERICA ARE GOOD LADS

Well I am interested in hearing more of your fascinating stories it's not like the thread is going anywhere or anything
Thanks man much appreciated

Stories about animal spirits as animated shorts.

How do I get a cute Amerindian girlfriend?

you don't

Go back in time. There are no real Indians left.

Well, VERY few. 99.9900000000% of them are just edgy whites or mexicants

>He tries to keep his mother quiet while she's having seizers because he thinks these might be bears, but their posture and shadows look more like giant men

Maybe they were just gay bears.

I'm a gay man and for some reason a lesbian native american girl taught me how to kiss.

The story isn't fun it was trashy people alcohol and autism. I'm so happy I don't have herpes.

>amerindian
>cute

>I'm a gay man

A bit redundant considering your flag 2bh

kek

Are there any pure natives left?

Some yes, deep in the big reservations

What is this white-washing shit?

I laffed.

At least in Canada we have free healthcare for our aids.

You shut your mouth

go to the brazilian jungles youll find them there

Why would you send him to that hellish nightmare?

The girls on the reservation were gorgeous.

I know of like 5 of them in my whole huge-ass family.

Tell me stories about your indian family

hope this stays alive until tomorrow, good night

Are they mostly older people?

I would rather not be killed by a giant snake or something.

No there are younger full bloods. A bit harder to find, but they're there. Try a big reservation like Navajo Nation, and you'll find a lot more.

bump before bed

Well like I said I don't really have any major stories to tell besides that.

The only stories I have left right now are just things like the time I was alone in my room and saw a coffee mug move about 1.5 inches while it was resting on a flat plane where there was zero inertia to get it to move.

Another was the time when my brother (technically step brother, his dad was an ex-member of the hell's angels who stole from the gang and came out here to hide out from them) died of cancer and we didn't follow the ritual of giving away all of his personal belongings to let him move on. We kept a few of his personal items like his guitar and one night during a power outage a flashlight was resting beside it. This flashlight with the guitar was resting on a table and then the flashlight turned on and off a couple of times and rotated almost 45 degrees.

Well after that we gave the guitar away to a friend of his and we haven't had anything like that happen since.

Forgot to say more about the Witiko, I guess it just slipped my mind.

Just wanted to elaborate on what it means to devour one's spirit guide. Basically your spirit guide is a certain type of animal and if you eat that certain type of animal then you turn into one. At least that is what I have been taught.

For example, if your spirit guide is a female calf then it is ok to eat any variation of cow besides that one specific type of animal. However, if you do eat that specific animal then you wind up turning into a Witiko. The transformation is basically your insides turning into a form of ice that is basically unbreakable unless you destroy it while it is still forming and keep it from reforming.

That being said there are two ways of stopping the transformation. Either you find a way to get a pot of animal fat to boil before the transformation is complete and make the person transforming drink it down or you have to kill them. Well if it is too late to kill them your only hope is to try to tie them up or something to distract them for a little bit and get away. I hear one person escaped since his spirit guide was a certain type of fish. He summoned the fish to make a bridge just for himself to cross getting other members of this fish to swim to the surface making a bridge to let him run across a lake and escape so the Witiko could not catch him.

>tfw you're from a dying tribe who are going to lose their treaty rights
We have a little bit over 1900 people and of those 1900 people we have 162 people who can fluently speak our language.
Of those 162 people I'm the youngest fluent speaker at 20 years old

pakis out

I got some more shit to tell but like I said before I don't want to make this into a personal blog unless people want to hear more.

Really sorry to hear that, my tribe is one that got lucky and managed to ride out the genocide and come out on top, at least compared to others. All I can say is that you could try to keep your tribe alive by doing things like visiting elders and record the stories before they're lost forever.

You have to save them user
Make the reservation great again

Why are there so many native people on Sup Forums? Do I only notice it here because it's pretty much the only place people talk about it? I see us mentioned sometimes in Canada threads on Sup Forums, but that's only to talk about how much they hate us.

Natives actually do get some pretty good representation on /his/ and only have a few shitposters who are all 'hurr Injuns are stupid for not inventing x' when they had no real reason or means of inventing said thing. That and the people on /his/ talk about things like Native cities, weapons/armor, technology, etc. I myself have never posted on /his/ until someone linked this thread from a Sup Forums thread.

This one

I feel really bad for you brother. I can't imagine have our reservation being danger. Tho historically Donald Trump has tried to go after reservations and casinos before before they gave him competition in the 90s. I'm kind of terrified at the likelyhood that he'll be the next President.

But I'm also really impressed that you can speak your language. Literally the only people I know that can speak Odawa are my grandma and my dad
when he's very drunk.
