I think swedes tend to buy alcohol when they're abroad yeah, but there is usually a limit at the customs.
And yeah, alcohol is pretty expensive here, I think a 350 or 375ml bottle of 37.5% ABV vodka at the government owned liquor stores is like 104 SEK or something.. which is around 13$? Not exactly sure how much it'd be in other currencies.

Alcohol is heavily taxed in Finland that it's actually a bit more expensive than in Sweden. Some Norwegians near the boarder come to buy their alcohol from Finland tho.
