Why are desktops always low ppi?

Why are desktops always low ppi?

We have 4k and 2k smartphones, but most people are still on 1080p desktops. Even when we have 4k desktop monitors they're 27 inch or above so they end up being relatively low ppi.

Why can't we have desktop monitors that are 250ppi or higher?

Because I fucking like to see shit without having to zoom

Maybe paper tech companies are forcing the resolution meme to get to the point where we can put a light field lens array over the screen. A lens array would also have a nicer texture than flat glass.

Because this would require so many different system upgrades... you need a better GPA with tons of video memory right off the bat, which means a better PSU, a new monitor, etc

lmao

stupid nigger

Not really. Intel iGPU can drive a 4k display easily.

Because you don't keep your monitor right in front of your face like you would with a phone.

But, you know that. You're not looking for new information.

Natural Selection

Phone software was made with high DPI screens in mind. Lots of desktop programs aren't DPI aware so increasing DPI just makes them smaller and once you get high enough DPI they become unreadable without scaling which makes them blurry as shit.

Why are they even doing this

It's no more difficult than a normal pushup

>Intel iGPU can drive a 4k display easily.
Not if you want to do any work with it lmao

4K in phones is a selling point meme for normies

Oh look, an idiot who doesn't know any better

Y-you too

Because it's easier to hold phones in bed, and most people (including myself) use high resolution displays for porn. I don't do any professional photo or video editing, I'm not a gamer, and there are like no 4k movies or TV shows I want to see (or give up hard drive space for). So the next best use for this technology is viewing super HD oiled tits.

I didnt even see the toolbar the first time I watched this

Because I value screen real estate more on a desktop than crystal clear images?

Because I sit over a foot away from my monitor. also, 4K/2K smartphone screens are a waste of battery life.

>4K/2K smartphone screens are a waste of battery life.

True. That's why I bought the Zuk Z2 pro instead of some overpriced Samsung or LG garbage.

Because desktops are big

Each pixel is larger, more material = more manufacturing cost.

Small high resolution phone screens are cheap, big high resolution monitors are expensive

>tfw using a 23" display at 4k
It's not exactly high ppi, but the difference is noticeable. Text looks much better.

Agree, OP.

At the very least any 13 inch laptop should be 1080, not the same low res garbage that companies were pushing out 5-10 years ago.

4K on laptops is ridiculous but 1080 should be a sensible standard

fucking who cares. i hate the faggot resolution chase

what is impacted by you not having 400ppi on a fucking screen

Words are difficult sometimes user, it's okay if you're an idiot.

I wouldn't mind a couple of 4k 21 or 22 inch screens on my desk to be honest.

Maybe you should use an OS that doesn't have that problem then :^)

High PPI is good on the eyes. Reading stuff is much easier on 200 PPI than it is on 100.
