What went wrong?

What went wrong?

Northbridge became integrated into the CPU, making 3rd party chipsets obsolete.

But it was fine?

That's not nForce logo

This went wrong.

Wait, I had a brain fart, you're asking about the FX cards not the nForce.

The FX cards ran hot and loud, buggy DX9 support, and weren't faster than AMD's card of the time. In fact the FX series was barely better than the GF4 that it was supposed to replace.

>But it was fine?

What are you talking about it was a disaster in Direct X 9

ATI 9700,9800 PRO were legendary cards.

Also if I remember correctly I think you could flash the 9500 to a 9700

Only issue was that Valve botched the release of HL2 and it got delayed by a year, which hurt AMD as they were really selling people on how well it was supposed to run that game and had all the latest DX effects. It was supposed to come in a bundle as well.

They weren't fast enough.

Because the ex-3DFX employees absorbed by Nvidia did not deliver.

I had a 5200 ULTRA I am still butt mad about purchasing that pile of garbage

Uhh the FX cards are GeForce 5, a long-ass time passed since the 3DFx acquisition.

Honestly, the reason FX was remembered to be so shit was in relation to how good series 4 and 6 were. 4400 Ti? Awesome. 6800? Fucking legend.

lol, it was basically a Geforce 2 with DirectX9.

And I purchased it to replace a guess what, Geforce 2 MX400

My stocks quadrupled with them last year, hope it goes wrong again

pops bought me one to run FFXI when it first came out in 2003. it was gud4me

It could barely into DX9.

I had an FX5600. It was shit.

My FX 5200 is brilliant
DELET THIS

I myself had a Geforce 4MX 440 (If I remember it properly). Half Life 2 looked like this pretty often.

I had a shitty Celeron processor back then, and it took about 2-3 minutes to load a new level. Ah, good old times when hardware mattered.

Yeah that's how Half Life 2 looked on my Pentium 4 1.6hz Willamette,512mb ram fx 5200.

>housefire cpu
>housefire gpu
were you retarded or something?

FX 5500 was my first graphic card, run ubuntu marvelous.

It was a different time

Gotta love the days when i used my GF4 Ti4200

>Geforce 4MX 440
I had one kek

What a piece of shit, couldn't even run AA2.3

my fx5200 still works

My dad bought me one for Half-Life 2. It didn't run so good, but I was happy anyway.

This piece of shit(PCI fx5200) was my teenage years on a Pentium 4 dell prebuilt with a missing AGP slot. I did every trick I could find to try and get games to run at acceptable frame rates.
