I absolutely hated this scheme on terminals in my S/360 days. Detested it. The amount of eyeball melting this scheme had, at least on old IBM terminals, was atrocious.

I tried green in black for a stretch and it tended to strain my eyes after a while, although I agree that it's probably the clearest option.
I actually kind of like ubuntus default terminal colours, I try to get that kind of scheme going on other Linux distribution I end up using it in powershell
