i got a virus in a torrent, while cleaning it out google chrome was removed
i'm trying to reinstall chrome and keep getting an error "This computer already has a more recent version of the Google Chrome. If the software is not working, please uninstall Google Chrome and try again."
i've deleted every google or chrome folder i could find in program files and appdata, and i also tried the offline installer which gives the same exact error

You need to remove the registry entries. Search for "Google" and "Chrome" in HKLM and HKCU

ran malwarebytes a few times, looks like everything is clean now

The virus probably installed itself to C:\Windows\System32. Deleting the entire folder should get rid of it.
