somewhere along the line, western animators stopped trying to make cute characters. This show, Star vs. (SVTFOE), is the most boring flash-animated show I've ever seen. It's popular though, because they have a cute character design.
All western animators need to do is apply cuter character designs to shows with better writing than Star vs.
