If you've nothing to hide, then why do you use encryption?

If you have nothing worth stealing, why do you lock your door?
Same reason, you don't want someone else to harm you.

Because I have nothing to share.

Because I want to hide from everyone trying to invade my privacy, be that governments or individuals. Government agencies have plenty of backdoors that can get at my data if they really want it anyway, but a slavic NEET in his basement is stopped dead in his tracks.

Why do you assume it's for hiding? Encryption is for *protecting data.

This.

I don't want my data in the hands of a laptop thief

To make my data theft resistant. Gubermint will do what it will, but it's good knowing any random moron who may burglarize my place won't get my files in a usable format.

So that if my laptop gets stolen my work is protected from others.

If you have nothing to hide, then why do you have curtains/blinds?

>If you've nothing to hide
I do have something to hide. I don't want people to know my passwords, for example.

I do have stuff worth stealing.

I have things to hide

>if you've nothing to hide

But it's not about hiding you retard.

Even if you're not a tinfoil or worried about the immediate threat of burglars, encryption still saves you the trouble of formatting the hard drive when you decommission your computer. There is little reason not to encrypt these days.

Op can you post your email phone number and address ?

If you don't , I just might think you have something to hide .

>If you've nothing to hide, then why do you use encryption?
To keep my person/private stuff private.

So u have something 2 hide

Counter-riddle:
If there is no legitimate reason to break encryption, why does it matter if someone uses it in the first place?

Can I have your name, nude photo, medical records, bank account info, and so forth?

No?

Guess you have something to hide then.

Shit thread, shit poster.

my bank uses encryption for their shit
i don´t have anything to hide in the sense that you imply

i just don´t want my data to be openly visible to every retard on the internet

Because I have something to hide.

curiosity
you are encrypting
that means something worth encrypting is there
so to know one has to break the encryption

you know the government has portals like google where they just login and the fog-of-war is gone. if you think they're just typing on a terminal to see your ip, you're nuts. the technology is insane and the capabilities are horrifying.

yeah and they can zoom and enhance too right?

>facebook and sprint don't have portals for law enforcement

softwarefreedom.org/events/2010/isoc-ny/FreedomInTheCloud-transcript.html

so you admit you think everyone's private affairs are for you to snoop around in

well, I'm sure you won't mind me watching your wife masturbate with her dildo collection, and then watching your little kids play in the yard

the army put up a fucking "zoom and enhance" blimp on the east coast

back to Sup Forums apologist fuck

You'll amount to nothing, why are you still alive?

I've seen her noods. Would smash.

Didnt we have this thread already yesterday?

Nobody wants to steal your cartoon porn, dude. Don't kid yourself

If we allow the 4th Amendment to be rendered irrelevant, how certain are you as to the permanence of the definition of what should and shouldn't be hidden? In other words, are you certain that what is acceptable today won't be forbidden in the future?

Furthermore, let's not be naïve. How certain are you that your information isn't for sale now and won't be for sale in the future. Govt has laws. We know to abide by the law. But perhaps a potential employer would rather not hire people into little ponies. Are you certain that your internet activity won't be bought by a future employer?

Here's the solution — Vigorously uphold the 4th Amendment.

Underrated post.

Not only this, but just look at how immoral it is. No matter what, it's immoral to take a person and turn them into a product for sale, even worse, outside their own perception. That's even worse than a prostitute who at least knows what she's doing and gets money for her work. All this mass spying and other disrespect of people's privacy by companies and governments overstepping their bounds everywhere they go is criminally immoral, and to abandon morality is to be the bad guy.

“To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be place under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality."

This argument has been played out many times before. You'll bring up the "nothing to hide" argument, then you'll be asked for personal information to prove your statement. The lack of an answer from you will be implicit agreement that encryption and privacy are needed.

>If you've nothing to hide
I have plenty of stuff I want to hide, if you aren't a monk you have too.

Because privacy is a basic human right.

Nice, only took 1 post to stump OP.

If you live in a good neighborhood why do you have doors? Why are they locked?

I've got several passwords and information, along with texts with my SO that I don't want anyone reading.

No it is not it is a privilege faggot.

Because people can steal my stuff

No, dipshit. It's a right.

oh but i DO have something to hide :^^^)

>he thinks positive rights exist

>he thinks claiming they don't will magically make them disappear

Living in a major city.

Not having any doors or windows on your house. No security cameras. Leave your car running with the keys in the ignition, doors open.

> the smart way to life

Link?

her name + fappening
don't be lazy

I do have something to hide. I have financial, social, and other personal information in my computer. I can deal with niggers stealing my computers but niggers getting a hold of my bank accounts would be a much bigger problem. If you and your darkie friends would quit stealing everything that isn't nailed down, I wouldn't need FDE.

/thread

You live in a good neighborhood you got nothing to worry about it is safe user

We're is the documentation fag

>We're is
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you have is extra chromosomes, resulting in severe Down's syndrome, or as I've began calling it, Sup Forums cancer.

> Source in this so called "privacy is a right"

Well done proceed with the name calling

Right here, cunt.
un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/

I wasn't even one of them. I simply saw how retarded your argument and comments are, and so I interjected for a moment. Deal with it, fag.

I have something to hide. All my data.

>UN

I am sorry senpai, but NWO is not a thing and tg UN does not have any power

Why don't they just make any encryption illegal if they crave to know all goyim activities?

xD

ecks fuggin dee

...

A ``zoom and enhance" blimp can only see stuff that's out in the open, so unless you go around doing illegal/private stuff out of doors, it won't see anything. A more practical use case for a blimp like that would be environmental research, geographical surveying and so on. And blimps are slow, they're not going to bother sending it looking for you unless they already have solid evidence that you're a threat to national security, and at that point it's only being used to gain some last bits of information before armed men storm your property.

Unless you're out in your yard making bombs with no electronics around, there's really nothing a ``zoom and enhance" blimp could see that the government couldn't more easily find out through hacking.

>he thinks privacy is a positive right
Wow, it's almost like you're a double retard.

Imagine you have a safe with all of your saving in your house; since you're clearly an idiot, you need a place to store said password; since you're against encryption, you're not using a password manager; so you store it in your phone, a note on your wallet or a notepad like a caveman. Now imagine you're walking down the street at night and some random nigger mugs you and gets a hold of your driver's license and said password. Now you lost whatever you had in that safe because you're against something literally made to protect you.

How about you just like literally don't use passwords? I mean if you're against encryption, why would you even want to use a password? They're like literally the same thing.

it wasn't meant to be a literal argument just point against your condescending downplay

>mfw he wears clothes

Encryption is important to online transactions. Without it your bank passwords could be easily sniffed by an ISP or a malicious actor in a MITM attack.
