Name one good reason to get an Android phone over an iPhone

Name one good reason to get an Android phone over an iPhone.

>B-But they're cheaper!
iPhone SE

>B-But I can rice it!
How does that make it better?

>A-Android is open-source and doesn't spy on me!
Google spies or enjoy your Chinese and Korean malware

Face it, Android does nothing better than iPhone.

>Android
it's just linux

source?

It's a boy

Top reasons (list is incomplete)
>have real encryption with no backdoors
>download over 100MB over mobile data
>install a third party app launcher and icons
>use it as a flash drive
>share any kind of file over wifi/bluetooth
>torrent via torrent clients in the playstore
>install apps outside the playstore
>modify a few system settings to increase performance and decrease battery drain
>manually control complex camera functions via third party apps
>natively browse files
>view better colors via amoled displays
>browse Sup Forums and natively open webms inside them via third party apps
>extract/browse archives
>add additional phone storage via a micro SD card
>replace the stock battery with a bigger one
>add widgets to your home screen
>access important functions by swiping down
>have actually good real world performance

ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO HACK YOUR PHONE

yes and?

No shit, why do you think i asked

>>Google spies or enjoy your Chinese and Korean malware
Android is an even bigger botnet than iOS, out of the box.

The difference is that you can flash a no-gapps custom ROM and de-botnet it, unlike an Apple device. Well, you can de-botnet it as far as a phone is able to be de-botnetted.

Other than that, iThings very much want you to go full Apple. They want to work with other Apple products and services, so everything's "in the ecosystem". I don't want that. I want something that is first and foremost a standalone device that doesn't assume anything about other devices I use.

>draw a girl
>call it a boy

i like traps too but this is just lazy as shit

you don't really care about what Sup Forums thinks about androids vs iphone. you just wanted to post a trap to Sup Forums

I hate tripfags but he's right even if this is the first time hes been right.

You really showed them

>Google spies or enjoy your Chinese and Korean malware
Self Compilet aosp without google botnet . For security SELinux and iptables / own hosts

>I can't handle the truth: the post

>can't move files
>no webms
>no flash
>no clover
>can't access terminal
Unless you want to buy and install chinese jaillagging software, the iPhone basically comes bricked.

>good real world performance
This was only true before the iPhone 7

god bless

look at the webm I included, dipshit

You like jerking off to pictures of sad pandas? sick fuck.

I'd like to see the boot times

Do you still have to use itunes to load audio files onto your iphone. And then it gets all pissy if you connect it to another computer with a different account?

Removable battery
Expandable Memory
File Managers
Fuck off

Well... fuck off normie.
That shit is all i want from my phone
Like i ever cared about the 99.9%

>reddit star
one more to the filter

thanks apple shills

> I have no idea how operating systems work the post

Just because an operating system boots up quickly does not mean shit

example:
Windows 10 boots up quickly as fuck(technically hibernates but oh well) - Still has shitty as fuck CPU (single threaded and muilti threaded) performance compared to a Linux Distro

>being anti-tinkering on Sup Forums

>muh boot times
die

I don't have any other apple shit nor do I intend to buy into the ecosystem.

i don't need anything of that and i'm actually a linux fag

good reasons, but most of them are extra features that you would rarely use every day.
>real encryption with no backdoors
I think you are forgetting how android is just as bad if not worse than iOS since they have more vulnerabilities.
>download over 100MB over mobile data
Never heard of this and I never experienced it.
>install third party app launcher and icons
Ricing... okay +1
>use it as a flash drive
+1
>share any kind of file over wifi/bluetooth
Airdrop can do this.
>torrent
+1
>install apps outside the playstore
its possible to not use the app store, that's how you get emulators on iOS
>modify settings to increase performance / decrease drain
What settings? Elaborate, since turning off location services still counts.
>manually control complex camera functions via apps
There are apps like that... the app store isn't just filled with instagram filter apps.
>natively browse files
+1000
>view better colors via amoled displays
+1 but amoled isn't accurate
>browse Sup Forums and natively open webms (VIA THIRD PARY APPS *no shit*)
phoneposting... wew lad. but webms are still useful outside of Sup Forums so +1
>extract browse archives
there are file apps that do this, not well though but its still possible
>SD card
+1000
>replace the stock battery with a *bigger, non OEM one.
+1
>add widgets to your home screen
Ricing...
>access important functions by swiping down
how about swiping up?
>good real world performance
+0.5 for the 0.5 sec faster load times on apps
Congrats.

thanks for your input , reddit

>Draw a girl
>Call it a boy

No headphone port.

As someone who owns a pair of BT earbuds I have to admit this would be a huge pain in the ass for me. I half the time use corded earbuds while the BT ones take hours to charge.

Here's a couple

>name dropping a rebranded digg site
ty /s

>More vulnerabilities
Out of box, but can be made to be the most secure devices.
>Ricing... okay +1
Yes, ricing. We like our phones to look like something organized, not a garbled mess of icons and a static background
>Airdrop can do FT
Only with other iDevices IIRC
>it's possible to sideload without the app store
If you jailbreak.
>What settings for power consumption reduction
Some phones allow the user to throttle the CPU to preserve power
>Amoled isnt accurate
Its got better darks than an iphone display and is FHD, if not 1440x2560 or even 4k.
>There are file apps that let you browse the filesystem
Not all of it.
>How about swiping up
Doesn't give quick link to settings, cant customize what you want on control center.
>Mumbling sarcasm about performance
Price/performance, do you speak it?

>all those answers you have to rely on apps or jailbreaking for that android does natively
this isn't even a good bait thread

>Rice
Main reason my i have an Android :^)
Other reasons are SD card, back/recent buttons, and 4channel app

>Calls Android shit for using a third party app to browse webms
>"Browse file archives" apple can do this with a third party app

Extreme meme contradiction

>>A-Android is open-source
So you can compile it from source, right?

>literally 1000's of different hardware options at every price point to fill your needs
>many have expandable storage and removable batteries, greatly extending the life of your device
>highly customizable
>non - proprietary standardized input/charging jack
>much higher screen resolutions available
>no iTunes
>like you literally don't even have to use it, ever
>hardware buttons, physical keyboards available
>green is obviously the superior color, just ask Costanza

kys

never called it shit baka... I was emphasizing how the user kept on mentioning third party apps like a mouthbreather.
>If you jailbreak.
Not necessarily. You can load apps from safari, that's how GBA4iOS worked and many other ex-store apps, it got patched by apple but you can bypass it by reverting to a certain date on your phone.

> Share over wifi
> MicroSD
> Performance
>"0.01% users need those features."
Shit-quality bait right there

1. Security

Apple users will look to the latest CIA leaks and believe that they have a more secure product due to iOS having less vulnerabilities overall. A cursory look at this, however, will reveal that all but 5 of the Android vulnerabilities listed had already been patched, while 10 of the iOS vulnerabilities were still unpatched, and the scope of access they granted was larger, with at least one vulnerability allowing the kernel to be exploited. In all reality, Apple has a history of producing vulnerable software, and responding poorly to it. For the longest time, Safari was consistently the first browser to be compromised in browser hacking competitions, and it still doesn't do too well. Apple likely does not take security seriously, as they took over six months to fix a root escalation vulnerability in Mac OS X, and their initial patch did not actually solve the problem. In 2015, Mac OS X and iOS were the first and second most vulnerable software platforms in terms of number of vulnerabilities.

And I know at this point someone is going to point out that thieves can get iCloud locked out of a phone. This isn't really a priority for security for most people. If the data's encrypted, then the most someone can do is wipe the disk and use the phone for themselves, should they gain physical access to the phone. If we can maintain the assumption that the phone is not going to leave the possession of the owner or a trusted friend of said owner, the only real thing that matters is software security, not physical security.

2. Freedom

I don't have to execute a security vulnerability to gain the ability to run any arbitrary application on my phone, without the permission of Google. I can run completely without the Play Store if I so choose. If I decide to gain root privileges on my phone, I can do so without executing a security vulnerability, in a way that guarantees only I have root access, and which does not prevent me from getting OS updates without losing root.

>0.01% of the users actually need
Plenty of those features appeal to normies.

He's a full blown paid apple shill, reason doesn't reach him. I filly agree with your post above, I always found it strange how easy jailbreaking my 6+ was. I've been trying to root my J7 for months with numerous utilities and no dice.

>He's a full-blown paid apple shill
Who won't see your post because he filters every tripping poster who disagrees with him, just to feel that much better about shilling. Go user if you want to reach out to shills.

>I've been trying to root my J7 for months with numerous utilities and no dice.
Ah Samsung, my other enemy.

Does anyone actually gain anything from knowing it's you?

Fuck off and stop tripping outside of your containment thread.

Got my S7A and haven't bothered rooting it. Its honestly nice as-is. I got it for $120 because my G4's mobo failed (508 serial number, defective series)

I am not sure if anyone else gains anything, but I gain the satisfaction of having annoyed posters like you.

Hi, it seems you are confusing Sup Forums with consumer general. This is a board for electronics and computer hobbyists; people that aren't terribly interested in products designed like kitchen appliances to appeal only to end users.

Please keep this mind while you're here.
Thank you.

and /thread

can the fucking normies get off Sup Forums FSS

and that's For Stallman's Sake obviously

i-tunes is cancer and i like to have control over my phone

strictly superior Sup Forums experience to all but a full desktop browser and the single most important feature of a phone

I don't need insaanely expensive high-end storage for fucking music

Nothing else matters to me

No iTunes

the equivelant of covering your ears and shouting "LALALALALALA"

it was already posted

I didnt notice he was a tripfag at all until i read comments, you should not trip for no reason

But holy shit stop, hes already dead

Customization and cheaper. And the iPhone SE is shit for the price. You can get a way better Android for the same price.

You can install Sailfish on it.

All of these are made up or moot points with jailbreak. And is iOS somehow bad because the gap between enthusiasts and normies is wide? Afraid to "hack" your phone Mr. Power User? I'll go through some made up ones as an example:
> have actual good real world performance
Pic related
>access important functions by swiping down
Have you actually owned an iPhone like you said? You know you can swipe up for "important functions".
>add widgets to your home screen
Sure, not without jailbreak. But at the same time Android has no lockscreen widgets. The real difference here is that you can jailbreak an iPhone for home screen widgets while no recent version of android can do lockscreen widgets at all.
>Replace stock battery with a bigger one
You realize 99% of these are fake chink shit? Very few phones have had legitimate battery upgrades.
>View bettery colors via amoled display
Simply wrong
displaymate.com/iPhone7_ShootOut_1.htm
>manually control complex camera functions
Manually camera apps exist alongside native raw support.

Those tests they do are dumb. Not speed tests in itself but the way they try to pretend they really hit it at the same time. Better to just do one at a time and then use a camera to count the time it takes to complete the test and then compare.

it no work senpai

Who is she?

if you flash a rom you're not in a bdsm relationship with a company you sick fucks. Most apps work on both devices

WikiLeaks jus BTFO Apple :v

>she

Yes? Do you have the source or not?

The Source is in this threat.

It's still using some sort of exploit to do some functionality that an android device can do natively

some people are very familiar with the sadpanda but have never bothered to try and never bothered to try and bypass it. Also, changing it to e-hentai doesn't work since the gallery has been removed.

MUH OPTIMIZASHUNSSS

>sauce me
>not that sauce
Go fuck yourself new friend

They look, feel and work more nicely?

Only downside is social and it's not like you have any female or black friends to say shit about it anyway.

Its not really an exploit, its the same concept as getting fdroid on android, which isn't "native" to begin with. Either way its becoming a strawman arguement about what one device can do "natively".

I can sideload applications without breaking my phone.

Yknow. I might unfilter you now.

Longer battery, multi-SIM, possible to add a SD card, wifi hotspot.

>6GB of RAM in a smartphone
What the fuck for?

>view better colors via amoled displays
Overly saturated is better, now?

>iPhone SE
But they're cheaper.

>How does that make it better?
Depends: what the fuck is ricing?

>Google spies or enjoy your Chinese and Korean malware
Ubuntu Touch

>Face it, Android does nothing better than iPhone.
Agree, but consider:
1) They're cheaper.
2) Don't really feel like counting to 2

This is the level of arguments from appleltards.

>Today, March 23rd 2017, WikiLeaks releases Vault 7 "Dark Matter", which contains documentation for several CIA projects that infect Apple Mac Computer firmware (meaning the infection persists even if the operating system is re-installed) developed by the CIA's Embedded Development Branch (EDB). These documents explain the techniques used by CIA to gain 'persistence' on Apple Mac devices, including Macs and iPhones and demonstrate their use of EFI/UEFI and firmware malware.

Are people on Sup Forums really so new they don't know how to force anonymous names? Fuck me, I'm surrounded by "technology enthusiasts" who can't even look through a fucking webpage

Stop bitching about tripcodes and do something to fix what's bothering you
