GNU/Linux games, not Sup Forums

Recomend us some free(like free beer, and free as in freedom) games for GNU/Linux systems.
I'll start:
NetHack
Dwarf Fortress

BallisticNG

100% free & very accurate wipeout (ps1 hovercraft racing game) clone. Developer has all source on his github ready to be compiled in Unity.

Does Battle for Wesnoth run on the Windows Subsystem for Linux, or is it WinAPI only?

>Dwarf Fortress
What?

hyperrogue

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Race into Space
OpenTTD
Ur-quan Masters
Liquid War

>Dwarf Fortress
>free beer, and free as in freedom
Proprietary spaghetti code.

I've been playing dungeon crawl stone soup. Whenever I need a break from studying or whatever and I'm not at home I'll play a round or two.

Battle for Wesnoth is native?

>playing games

didnt know about that.

Minecraft is pretty good if you add mods

Anyone plays xonotic?

>not playing games

Go to Get out now.

Sup Forums is for wincucks, are you a wincuck user?

I used to have this game called Tux Typing, it was basically a ripoff of old arcade games that you had to type through to attack/complete, only thing that made it Linux related though was a few animation frames of Tux typing at a keyboard while you type.

It was pathetically easy, would let the attack almost get to the danger zone then type them all out in under 5 seconds.

DF is a great example of how much closed source sucks. After each release it takes the modders months of work to reverse engineer the structures and make the game even playable for many people. Work that is necessary and completely superfluous at the same time.

believe it or not, linux got me into online gaming. when i first heard about steam, i installed it on ubuntu (i was a console type of person for a long time).

I for the most part play counterstrike go/source, though i usually just surf.

i was thinking of getting this, a couple friends have it. is there a single player mode?

widelands - wl.widelands.org/
Very good Settlers 2 clone, that builds on the original. FOSS.

You can play with bots

oh, okay, then i might bother to get it. looked comfy.

Instagib is pretty fun

Endless Sky
Minetest (if you swing that way)
UFO:AI

Enemy Territory: Legacy is vaguely free and native I think. Not sure if populated.

I was playing Endless Sky for a while and was having fun running rounds in my modded clipper but then I figured out I could just steal ships and make millions but after that the fun went right out of it. Are all games this boring or just the open sauce ones?

It's still in development so there will probably be balance patches in the future. Also dunno about configs or mods or any of that available for it. Still a good game.

Try Faeria. It's a FTP (not free as in freedom) but is a very good and well balanced yugioh-like CCG.

Supertux

70% are just trash tier bad, ~8% are engine remakes of shit from the 80s, 10% are quake3 clones.

What about 0 AD? I havent played it but at at a glance it looked pretty good.

Last time I tried it was a while back and it's probly much more mature now.

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory

SCID vs PC... nothing like chess.

And thats all before a couple minutes of wine configuring too. Most games work without effort under wine.

Unreal tournament is open source (and early access)
It is great and run well

not mentioning this...

Yes.

What is the name of the real game? I used to play it on arcade machines at pizza hut as a kid. It wasn't bubble bobble but it reused the characters. Puzzle bobble?

I only play cod4 on windows and pokerTH on linux. That's about it. Next thread please.

It has dota 2, that's enough for me.

>Answering your own question and not looking it up on google. GG

GNU Octave is pretty fun

Saved, thanks.

...

I can't believe no one has mentioned Urban Terror. I've been playing that for 10 years.
