But it's not *buntu. I believe *buntu means x/l/kubuntu/Ubuntu mate, and excludes other Ubuntu based distros such as neon, zorin, elementary, LXLE, Lite, etc. All of which are better than the community ubuntu editions.

You are lying. I am using Ubuntu Mate with AMD proprietary drivers. And I still got screen tearing when watching video in Firefox. Video on Chrome and everywhere else works well.
