There really isn't an answer this comes down almost completely to personal preference.

Why would you want so much bloat? Just install i3 and use the default menu for running gui programs. Although you can do everything from the terminal nevertheless, except maybe browsing javascript ridden sites, for which you can find some minimal browser on the Arch Wiki application list.
