>le smaller sized storage is better meme

>poor

Here's your hard drive user

...

How the fuck is that a strawman? Are you retarded?

The argument was never made that bigger storage was better. Just that smaller storage isn't necessary and that there are more practical solutions.

Not him but you are an idiot. He didnt imply you said bigger was better. You fucking strawmanned then made the fallacy fallacy. Idiots I swear.
How retarded do you have to be strawman someones argument to make the fallacy fallacy.

How is it not better if I want to store my music library on my phone?

Why is there always a nigger that loves contradicting everybody ?

Increasing storage density is always better user.

Hmm, nah. UFS is DOA.

Micro SD UHS-II cards are already being sold (up to 312MB/s).

You left some of this behind

>Positive thread about how technology is moving forward
>Contrarian faggot has to butt in and share his illogical opinion
At least use a trip so I can block you god damn

>image(24)
Wtf.

...

>smaller storage isn't necessary
you have terminal degeneracy
mobile
We could all use cloud storage instead.

I'd rather walk on glass coated with salt and lemon juice

It seems I'm gonna be able to drop my hard drive soon for a converted sata adapter that uses one of these.

how is possible?

build it when it's hot so that when it cools down it contracts

> (up to 312Mbits/s).
and a real 80MB/s in benchmark sites, still just as okay as SSD

but anyway, how much more expensive is this shit compared to say SSD of similar bandwidth?

micro sd cards arent meant for long ter storage, theres always something like that written in flash memory devices labels

and there the issue with rewrittes limit, for a running OS your best bet still is HDD + SSD

Did you recently learn two new words? Adorable.

Strawman fallacy fallacy strawman fallacy, see? A new form of binary communication, guy's brilliant I say!

Didn't we already have 256gb?
Nah nigga, all I need is my grandfathers 1.5MB disk from his data general nova 800.
It's the box hanging out here, I'd take a pic of mine, handed down for the last 45 years, but the file wouldn't fit on it.

>Different format
>LOL MAKE IT LOOK MOSTLY THE SAME THOUGH, EVEN LET IT WORK IN THE SAME SLOTS!
>USB 3? NAH, THAT'S THUNDERBOLT

>this is how a Laptop should look like according to (((You)))

...

>tfw most modern phones do not support those

>Just that smaller storage isn't necessary
So we'd be fine if the standard 3.5-inch HDD could only store 8 MB?

What is backwards compatibility?

And they won't, ever. UHS-II micro SD cards are backwards compatible with UHS-I micro SD card slots. To top it all off UHS-III micro SD cards have just been announced.

UFS is officially DOA

anandtech.com/show/11171/sd-association-uhs-iii-a2-class-lv-signaling

Samsung doesn't know, that's for sure.

wait, they're not microsd cards?
that's pretty confusing

>Universal Flash Storage (UFS)
>Universal
>works in nothing

NOOOOPE, they fit in microsd slots, but need the UFS pins to work.
It doesn't even look like it could work in a UHS II+ slot, which is the actual standard for moar pins.

>UHSII
huh, haven't seen these before, either

funny how the wikipedia article on UFS specifically mentions that it aims to "reduce consumer confusion" but i can't tell at a glance what works on what

Any UHS card will work in any UHS slot, no matter what.
You put a fast card in a slot as fast as it or faster, you get the fastest possible speed.

alright, and what of UFS?

my guess is that it's entirely separate, and is only shaped the way it is to make it possible to be used in readers equipped to support both UFS and SD cards

indicates that it leaves room for the 'regular' sd pins, while reusing what i presume are the ground pins, judging from the fact that are closer to the 'top' in but i'm not sure about the other pins, they aren't quite the same between UFS and UHS-II

But user, it works in everything that has a UFS slot.

>my guess is that it's entirely separate, and is only shaped the way it is to make it possible to be used in readers equipped to support both UFS and SD cards
This is correct. UHS is a subset of the microSD standard, UFS is a different card entirely.

so the similarity of the "extra" pins between UHS-II and UFS has no significance? just a confusing coincidence?

>alright, and what of UFS?
UFS is totally fucked and doesn't work on anything.

Wouldn't even fit an entire song.

Probably.

not at the time, but modern audio compression allows for most common songs to fit under 5MiB with decent quality

Are you retarded?

Because it garners (you)'s

>smaller storage isn't necessary

But it is, especially in the mobile market

Any good long-term storage available?
Something I can just leave in the closet for 10+ years without going corrupt?

If an HDD isn't running it will last a very long time.

How so? Everything seems to move towards "lol streaming services".

verbatim bd-r blu-ray discs are about as safe and cost effective as you can get for long-term storage

just burn to dvd. i have a 12 year old, scratched up dvd+rw that still works fine today.

tapes. you can get cheap drives from ebay.

There are also m-discs offered by verbatim but I'm not sure whether paying a premium for these is worth it when their regular blu-ray discs are supposed to last for 100 years or more if stored properly.

AND GOT SO FAR
BUT IN THE END
IT DOESN'T EVEN MAATTTTTEEEERRRRRR

literally how is it not?

Dropbox has kept files in pristine condition for me for 10 years already.

>strawman
>fallacy
Someone has been jumping on the debate train recently...

Yeah but tomorrow they can erase all your files for any reason or threaten to delete them unless you pay them thousands.

Putting trust in other people to keep your data safe is the stupidest thing you could possibly do.

If you are on Sup Forums those should be part of your vocabulary.

I'd like to have access to my files even if I don't have an internet connection.

nah. I'm not here to argue over weekly threads

Enjoy losing all your data between the cushions of your sofa.

>giving all your data to someone else
Literal cuckoldry.
