let's do this
you can't read it, but it says Xeon E3110
>it came (out)
LGA1156 has this metal backplate behind the socket, which LGA775 didn't have
so I need to trim this rubber a bit
lovely job.
new board dropped into place
...and hooked up and cable managed.
love the Define R2
configuring the fans, updating BIOS and IPMI and all that shit is done through the EFI shell
I actually had to set it to not monitor the fans, because the Noctuas ramp down and spin so slowly that it thinks they're broken
this server is silent as fuck
proxmox booted up just fine and I have my gfur folder again
not to mention email service and owncloud
latest guts photo
so I went from 2 cores 2 threads to 4 cores 8 threads, ram went up from 8 to 12 gigs. and of course it's a newer platform overall
thank you 2015-17 intel server board S3200SH
all hail intel server board S3420GPLC
thank you for watching, remember to like and subscribe
What kind of services do you run on it?
>tfw too intelligent to use the stock cooler
>nice posts about a server upgrade
>it's used to store furry porn
why user?
the event log starts in march 2011, I guess this is when it was first put in use
it currently has three linux vms, running my email and owncloud. and file server (with furry porn among other things)
2013-2015 seem to have been pretty uneventful for the board
looks like it was running continuously from aug 2012 to feb 2016
I just set up a proxmox machine a couple days ago and it is WONDERFUL. So much easier than manually configuring everything via ssh. Fucking leddit is where I found out about it.
me: watched Wendell's video about it
I've been recommending proxmox in home server threads but they don't listen
they never listen man
how much to sell the old combo for?
E3110, 8 gigs of ecc ram, works perfectly
they don't seem to go for much anymore on ebay, and the new combo was about 100 eurobucks
They need to. Proxmox is God fucking tier.
I will buy it from you senpai. How much?
Nice job on cleaning it.
>selling to someone on Sup Forums
hmmmmmmmmmmm
you'd be better off getting it from ebay I think
eg. www.ebay.de/itm/272583434413
(unless you're from finland, in which case sure why not)
if you're running it on proper server hardware with IPMI (like the boards in this itt thread), see pve.proxmox.com
tl;dr of that is that I just added the line
WATCHDOG_MODULE=ipmi_watchdog
into /etc/default/pve-ha-manager and proxmox magically configures itself to use the hardware watchdog, so that if the kernel hangs for whatever reason the server automatically reboots
