Congress votes to allow ISPs to sell your internet history to advertisers

>Congress votes to allow ISPs to sell your internet history to advertisers
>Mom checks the mailbox
>Postcard with an anime image on it
>"Like Sup Forums.org? Then these products might interest you..."
>Advertisements for onaholes, sex dolls, and anime
>"user, why are we getting these in the mail? Have you been looking at naughty things online?"
>"I'm deducting 500 good boy points and you get no tendies for a week."

>A.. user I thought you were a good guy

>all of your friends on facebook recieve the same mail " your friend user has interest in 'lolicon rape' here are some recommended products!"

whats actually going to happen:

>advertisers buy data
>realize Sup Forums faggots, neets, weebs, autists, broke niggaz aren't worth their time
>advertisers throw data away
>biggest screeching occurs among said Sup Forums faggots, neets, weebs, autists, broke niggaz
>massive circlejerk, drama, fear, anger, anxiety and defeatism across multiple threads & months even though advertisers do not care
>muah privacy is in danger
>massive migration of autists into "Free" Software to "protect" themselves
>normies receive ads, maybe buy stuff, do not care at all - nothing to hide! nothing to fear!

wow its fucking nothing

>having to do a few more chores for a week
>she forgets about it and gets used to the deluge of sex-oriented mailers
>life goes on as normal

>massive migration of autists into "Free" Software to "protect" themselves
It's your ISP, unless you are routing your data traffic between multiple worldwide proxies, it's pretty much linked to you or your house if you live with several people. Privacy software won't change that.
>inb4 TOR
It's been proven multiple times that both NSA and FBI are watching exit nodes.

why not just use a vpn with encryption?

You surveillance fetishists are absolutely brainwashed.

It's always the same "We don't care about being watched constantly, so you mustn't either!"

>friends
fucking pleb

Found the mudslime

Fuck off

...

>his dns server does not resolve facebook.com to 127.0.1.1
point at him and laugh

>Congress votes to allow ISPs to sell your internet history to advertisers
they didn't though

they allowed them to sell anonymized user data just like google does

why does google get to do this but comcast can't? maybe time for a new law to block it all

>anonymized

>why does google get to do this but comcast can't?
The solution would be, as you stated yourself, to stop google from doing it. Not from allowing comcast to do it.

No, fuck YOU off for defending mass surveillance

>It's been proven multiple times that both NSA and FBI are watching exit nodes.
Annnnnnd? Are you implying these agencies sell your browsing history?

I got nothing to hide lol

>The solution would be, as you stated yourself, to stop google from doing it. Not from allowing comcast to do it.
This.Invading ones privacy and security for the sake of advertising is completely retarded.Think about it.How do you feel about all of that garbage that gets sent to your physical mailbox? Why would you want the digital equivalent being sent to your computer?Think about how annoying tv ads are.Advertising is a pestilence in any form unless you willingly seek it.

Name?
Address?
Phone number?
Email address and password?
Bank? Bank login and password?

You have plenty to hide faget.

I agree but where's the outrage?

There is a lot of shilling on this, you can see it in the media (same talking points mentioned in almost every source) and it's by two forces.

One force, Google and Faceberg etc, who will lose a big BIG chunk of their user data market to new competition, costing billions of real dollars to their profits in the user profiling industry.

Two, VPN providers, who wish to create and exploit fears (and who sell user data themselves).

ur an autist if u actually think ISP's will sell user passwords and shit fuck off cunt

how do I do this? help

Please email me your bank card information, or at least your payment card number, expiry date, last 3 digits on your signature strip, as well as your full name and billing address associated with that card. Thank you in advance.

They sell anything for a dollarydoo
They also buy such data back all the time from criminals to stop it going public

If any of the current anti encryption laws get passed its going to be open season on data theft

You're missing the point sunshine. Your average person has plenty to hide.

The solution is obviously to become a good normie and not do any naughty bad things any more

>block facebook.com, fb.com, fbcdn.com, etc
>all of a sudden most content from most major sites doesn't even load
>I can't even buy stuff online without whitelisting facebook
I miss the days when facebook was just "which of my classmates do I want to fuck" dot com

set up a simple linux dns server and just add an A host of facebook.com to 127.0.1.1
I'm not going to shop for dns server software for you tho.
GL

I want to do this for everyone through my router. But it is opening https:// connection and I cannot add https:// there, it says invalid characters.

oh nevermind, it worked now. I had to save it on the main menu.

no wait, it opens on my phone though, i turned off data just to be sure. what the fuck is going on?

Of course a mudshit would say this

Fuck off.

probably late, but make sure you clear cache on the phone

Found the bot, I'd say.

>why does google get to do this but comcast can't?
Google takes info as payment, Comcast takes dollars.

>not worth their time
Wrong. Weebs and weirdos is a largely profitable market. Weebs alone basically keep the anime industry alive from overseas. Porn and sex toys are kept afloat by internet sales nowadays. You can bet your ass these industries will do their damndest to get a hold of and use that information. It'd be different if we were talking car companies monitoring people browsing /o/ or the entertainment industry browsing Sup Forums, but these for more niche industries with a very specific kind of clientele, Internet history is going to be incredibly lucrative information.

I was watching this thread. I just checked again. fb app can access it but it doesn't open in browsers.

Oh no! People will find out I fap to furry porn!

seriously who gives a shit about this bill passing, anyway Trump will veto it in a heartbeat so you are all worrying about nothing

so this is pasta from /r9k/?

>ISPs will sell user information
You don't need to worry about your ISP.
The websites you browse can sell user info, especially if you attach card numbers or your name to it.

Realistically without compromising your identity, they could buy sell things like delivery addresses for certain product purchases and then other companies can blow up your IRL mailbox with things like sissy ads and ads for dragon dildos. People can do cross references on IP addresses which routinely visit taboo sites with applicants or customers and refuse to do business with a person ahead of time based on their histories without knowing exactly what it is they did on the specific site. (E.g. refuse online applications or to give service on principle from any IP that appears with a relative frequency on the list of unique IPs which have accessed Sup Forums).

Vote with your dollar. Advertising doesn't work if I don't buy anything. Let them waste money.

>(E.g. refuse online applications or to give service on principle from any IP that appears with a relative frequency on the list of unique IPs which have accessed Sup Forums).
What services are these?

Does a VPN stop that?

employers hiring new people will for certain buy the browsing data of potential employees to see they ain't hiring a weirdo. If you are a frequent Sup Forums user or hate site user you are basically fucked thanks in large part to who you voted in. The Dems voted against this and for Sup Forums's interest but since you guys over there are such cucks you voted for Trump and the GOP.

A vpn stops your local isp from having your info but some isp would still get the data.

>it's a republicans voted against their own interests episode again

Porn has the ability to fuck your brain up worse than cigarettes, and beer.

They voted to overturn a lame duck law that hasn't gone into effect, so you were kinda already fucked to begin with.

i dont mind, it's worth it

I think I'm like 4 or so days into no fap, honestly the things that my mind comes up with are far more satisfying than porn. It's like natural garbage collection.

>motherboard buzzes every time mouse moves

the app probably goes to a mobile URL, you can use a traffic logger to see what url the phone data is using
