HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM COMPANIES SELLING YOUR DATA.

This is just a basic guide for normies to use. These steps require little technical knowledge to complete and will help protect you from ISP level spying. These steps WILL NOT protect you from the CIA or NSA or any other sufficiently equipped nation state.

----------BROWSER CONFIGURATIONS---------
Chrome and Firefox:
Disable the following options:
"Use a webservice to help resolve navigation issues"
"Use prediction service to help complete searches"
"Use web service to help resolve spelling errors" (Keylogger)
Add Ons:
HTTPSeverywhere (Make sure to set it to "Block all unencrypted requests")
Ublock Origin (Can help block malicious ads and popups)

The steps above will prevent your ISP from seeing what you view in your web browser but will not prevent the web sites you visit from spying on you.

----------BITTORRENT CONFIGURATIONS----------
I recommend the Transmission client for Linux and Mac users and Tixati for Windows users.
Enabled the following:
"Force/Require encryption inbound and outbound"

This will not make you anonymous but it will prevent your ISP from seeing what exactly it is you are downloading. This will not prevent the torrent trackers or torrent sites from spying on you.

----------ANDROID APPS----------
Signal:
Has encrypted voice calling and text messaging.

Wire:
Has encrypted voice calling and text messaging but server is proprietary software.

Conversations.im:
Uses XMPP. You can run your own server if you like. Uses the trusted OMEMO encryption method. No voice chat yet.

Android Settings:
You should really already be doing this to protect yourself from pick pockets but if you haven't already ENCRYPT YOUR PHONE!
Opt out of advertising. Disable the advertising ID. If you have a Samsung device make sure to also opt out of any Samsung data collection.

Where are the options in Firefox to disable those?

Fucking retard. If your ISP sells your data, they've been doing it for years. Nothing has changed. Now go be a good goy and read some more Washington Post.

vpn / vps seems to be a good option it was proven to work somewhat before and should be somewhat fine now, only the nsa really bothers to crack that encryption probably, I don't know how they MiM an ssh server or vpn service.

You're a fucking retard. The FTC regulated that until they lost the AT&T suit and lost their powers to do so, so the FCC came in an added regulation to stop the issue before it became an issue. Now the Republicucks want to move power back to the FTC, which now has no teeth, which means ISPs will have freedom to sell this whereas before they didn't.

Nice. For torrents, imho 'disable incoming legacy connections' is also a good idea.

Correct. At least a decade, if not longer.

>do not live in uscuckstan
Here. Done.

FF may not have those features. I just included it in case it did.

Install Tor Browser.

how can I assemble my own p2p botnet so I can hide behind chain of bots?

Tor is fine but dont use it for everything. The out proxies are monitoring you for sure. Internal onion browsing is ok though.

Thats basically how tor works.

So can someone tell me if I can buy individual persons data? Or is it more like "500 searches for vegan lemonade were processed through this node on this date from this zipcode".

I was thinking the latter since it seems kind of weird how you could buy someones porn searches.

Browse normal sites and exhibit normal habits so your traffic gets mixed in with everyone else's and you get lost in the herd instead of standing out like sore thumb when people decide to pull info on users whose traffic patterns hit weird sites or VPN dead ends.

E.g. building a Web crawler that crawls mainstream websites methodically and blurs your internet traffic pattern.
Additionally maybe build cloud websites that act as personal mirrors for your favorite websites and connect to those. Then all your traffic looks like it's going to YouTube from your Web crawler and a random cloud website.

>implying anyone followed the regulation to begin with
Gullible af desu

Is that viable? Is that how they search through traffic?

Normies are saying that you can target specific people and get just their search history, I thought they would not give you the ip and just replace it with a random ID so you could only see the person if they googled themselves as a give away for example.

for torrents, use a fucking VPN. Anything less is "throw me in jail" tier.

>FREEDOM AND LIBERTY TO ALL!
>AMERICAN DREAM!

says the most cucked nation on the planet

You fuckers even made me take precautions and run everything through VPN just because of this shit in case any other country follows your retard practices.

Just install Arch, it's not hard.

We don't know for sure what people will be selling outside of the main meat, Internet traffic, but your ISP does have access to IPs, and personal information attached to the people browsing certain sites, since you have to give them that info to use their services.
They probably won't ever give out full datasets, but depending on how things get anonymized, it won't be a hassle to cross reference with other sources as a company. Also since these companies have more direct information on the people registered with them, unlike Facebook and Google which can only offer the information given to them on their own websites, a demographic search for things like zipcode, specific internet histories which involve specific devices you know are connected to a person's network, etc. It won't be hard to hit specific targets. Alternatively, you could ask for all traffic to weird places and sort by zipcode and then filter through anonymous ID and try to piece together who it is based on the remainder of their traffic outside of the specific site you are blackmailing them with.

>TFW I'm living in Germanistan instead
I have a feeling that it's not much better anyway.

>Nothing has changed

>for Normies

install gentoo

Its new outside the tech and security. Literally everyone is spying on you on the internet.

1: not be american.

They are repealing privacy laws that haven't been implemented yet, because they feel any internet privacy laws should be across the board not just for ISPs.
This is part of a bigger and even more convoluted dispute that involves "net neutrality" and all that where one side is doing the bidding of companies like Google and Facebook and the other of ISPs.

You can't protect yourself from your ISP unless you use a VPN, Tor or something. The whole purpose of an ISP is to forward packages for you.

Some kind of criminal that has botnet from malware infections is more safe in the web that normal upright citizen

lol

What about dnscrypt ?

>Tixati for Windows users

Yeah. Germany and britcucks are fucked too.

Be a hermit in the east. In eastern europoor food is piss cheap, electronics cost the same and living is cheap.

Programmers are in demand and earn way more than other jobs. Less compared to the west obviously.

Goverment is too incompetent to spy on you, isp can't sell your data, vodka is cheap and so is beer.

you have to have passed background checks and you can buy an individuals data

I see it like a flowchart where if your answer to "does your government spy on you?" is "no" it leads to a box that says "they get information from a foreign government that does."

We're all fucked. Time to go back to store-and-forward text files on BBSs.

For example Poland.
Not important enough to request data from foreign agencies.
Too proud to buy data
Too incompetent to spy on you without you noticing it.
Far enough from Russia so it won't turn into Crimea 2.0

They will try to spy on you, but piracy is so widespread that police won't try to get you. They probably run pirated software too.

Downsides are:
hard to communicate in English
Widespread religion in politics
Smaller wages
Shitty governments all around
Widespread postcommunistic mentality

Thinking of moving to Hungary, what's the quick rundown? So far I just their recent attitude, and I'd rather not be around Slavs.

>We're all fucked
Tell me exactly how we are, unless you mean your fucking terabytes of child porn

There's worse shit going on in the world than being spied on you fucking fuck
