You're talking about the post WW2 Asians here, those who left Indochina when France got the fuck away. Those ones, indeed, were already the elite there, or at least somewhat educated, gave French names to their children, had the typical Asian view on education and told their children to work at school, and all this kind of stuff, and didn't bother people with their religious beliefs and had no agressive preacing and this general passive agressive (in the best case) behaviour you can find in immigrants.
But the more recent one from China is not as nice. While they keep a façade, they're an extremely tight almost self-sufficient community, with a fucking huge mafia dealing with massive counterfeiting, contraband, illegal immigration and modern slavery. Pretty much all the south west Asian diaspora in the Parisian area are under a very few guys who are holding the whole community that pays them tribute and protection.
But they don't burn cars and bomb streets, so people don't notice them. That's what they want, and the reason they keep a low profile: they don't want to attract attention on the shit they're doing.
