I believe that adjusts the mirrors. You either rotate it a bit side to side or there should be another switch to pick sides. I thought they did away with the power heated mirrors on g3, nice find.

It's the eject button for the PC Card slot.

It's probably left over from the last owner. It looks like one of those Kensington locks where you can secure/tether your laptop to a desk for security purposes. That nub was probably the quick disconnect. I think you can remove it with some twisting, not sure.
