1333mhz ram. did you not enable xmp?

...

seems good, if you are looking for changes you should probably upgrade your memory

...

Ok, I need help
I'm about to buy my first SSD, should I go with Intel or WD? Intel's specs are better, but everyone here seems to use WD

Not sure why I even post in these threads, I just get fuckin bullied

I mean... you have a 1080 and a 1366x768 display running at 59hz

Not sure why it says that sometimes because other times it says this

Either way people bully

Samsung or Intel are the way to go in honesty.

What about SK hy? Never heard of it until my PC came with one lol!

No idea, if it does the job then it does the job, try comparing it with others on userbenchmark

Have these ssd between both my home pc, l;aptop and my gf laptop
Samsung 850 eVO
crucial mx300
PNY cs1311
ocz TRION 150
Kingston kc400

Samsung is the fastest 4k read wtrite
Kingston lol is the best sequential read
CS1311 had best sequential write
MX 300 is pretty close in all with the ocz trailing a bit and sometimes having pretty poor 4k read/write. I didn't test them all in the same system though. And honestly I don't think the differences were large enough to matter outside of benchmarks, all are much faster than a 7200rpm hdd, especially at boot when background processes are starting. can instantly get to work without anything hanging

>you should probably upgrade your memory
>hive mind

Only an hour after I posted that speccy I received new G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3400's.

>My new speccy

>upgrading RAM without increasing capacity
/me barfs

>I don't think the differences were large enough to matter outside of benchmarks
>all are much faster than a 7200rpm hdd, especially at boot

I can confirm. I have a Samsung 850 EVO at work as the boot drive for Windows 10. At home, I have an ADATA SU800 as my Windows 10 boot drive. I go from powered off to desktop in about 5 seconds both home and at work.

>adding more than 16gb RAM in present day gaming

I don't want to be a meme.

Gay ass shit.

Games regularly use 6 to 8 GB now, that leaves you only 8 for the whole rest of your computer which really isn't much at all. 16 is the real meme.

I see my usage go over 32 regularly (using 42.5 GB at the moment)

That's cause Window's memory management fucks right off with more RAM. The more RAM you have the more it uses without any advantage, just cause it can

$70 ebay cpu, $80 craigslist mobo. HDD are from a broken laptop and a cheap external, Used 390x for $160, broken 30" syncmaster 2560x1600 was $50 years ago and is still working with an oven baked scaler.
cpu at 4.05/4c/4.25/2c
4x4 1600 cas 9 at 1866
390x @ 1100/6500
this trash heap is toasty but does 1440p gaming okay for under $600 complete including zip ties and thermal grease.

fuck it

>not understanding how windows allocates resources

keep spending more and more money for literally no fucking reason

Well all I can say is when I had 16 GiB I was constantly swapping out and it was miserable

Pic is my Desktop. My Server specs are below. sorry no speccy image for it.

CPU - FX 8300
RAM - 8GB (4GB x 2)
HDD - 1TB (OS/Client PC Backups), 9TB (3TB x 4 Raid-5) Data/Movies/Porn/Etc. All Seagates
OS: Windows Home Server 2011 (It handles my needs perfectly)

have 8gb ram, windows uses ~2gb in normal use. Put 8 more in and now it uses >3gb with only the browser open. Looks like I need more ram.

running 16gb with no page file. never had a problem.

...

...

I7 6700k OC'd to 4.6Ghz
GTX 1080 TI OC'd to 2Ghz

>that awful scaling

...

It takes more than 50TB to get into Mordor.

...

What kind of setup do you have for those ~28TB disks?

o7 Poorfag Reporting!

H-how bad is it, guys? Be gentle, please...

Add a newer video card.
a SSD.
Then its alright unless you do something CPU intensive.

>1 degree Celsius
Why?

Nice LN2 cooled CPU user.

You not only have too much RAM
You also have a 7700(non K variant)

an an Alienware motherboard suggesting this is a prebuilt which you surely overpaid for

rate me

time for an upgrade. I had a 956 and 460 before getting you also need an SSD

My dad uses his 8-year old HP pavilion with 1366x768 @ 60 hz. the Nvidia GS700 or whatever Gpu with 512mb can't even run a 1080P video on a seperate 1080p tv as another display without showing artifacts/color distortions.

Mah boi.

>tfw I can't get my NVMe ssd to even boot windows dispite help online
>tfw have to use the old drive for the time being.

How are you having problems with it?

Try

Have you set the M.2 slot to NVMe mode, and made sure the PCIe lanes are being treated as NVMe lanes?
Sometimes you have to fuck around with those settings in the BIOS to get it to boot.

Nice, but why the x370?

Yeah I will give it a go thanks.

Working on slowly upgrading everything.

I kind of just wanted a really good motherboard, and the Asus Crosshair VI was the best I could get in my region (New Zealand)
I'm also getting an M.2 WiFi card for it, and will be overclocking with a watercooler.

Looks fine, what are you planing on upgrading?

ayy

The motherboard and cooler.
The MSI M5 is a z170 and it's missing llc for overclocking. The 7700k doesn't seem to like it.
The cooler is a 212 evo. No need to explain that.

Thinking of going intel soon as my mobo really needs an update. Thoughts?

...

Is this bait?

Nope, legit asf

...

...

Shitposting machine

Then I don't even know where to start. Is this for gaming?

First of all, why the fuck are you even getting liquid cooling when nothing in your system requires it? What the fuck is with the retarded SSD purchase? Just get one 500GB Samsung EVO SSD. Why the fuck are you getting a 1000W supply? Why the fuck are you buying Windows, Photoshop, Malwarebytes (kek), Sony Vegas Pro? And why the fuck would you get two 27" 1080p monitors? And (((gaming)))) keyboard? Jesus what the fuck?

You could literally shave off a ton of money from your build and get a lot nicer monitor, better motherboard, and maybe even a better GPU.

>Responding to tripfags
Are you new?

>tripfag

Buying? Kek

Main purpose is virtualization. Keyboard was free, not even a fan of it... Like cherry switches more. Virtualization engineer and programmer. As for the PSU, pays to have the ability for upgrades. Sad, had a bigger Intel one. It failed. Got a small one to last, then got a better one. One now houses windows and the other Linux. Liquid cooling... Why not? What's wrong with 2 1080p? Thinking of ultrawide next though... Subl looks epic in ultrawide.

Money isn't really an issue anymore. As I've said there's plans to upgrade the mobo, though i think I'm going to wait until i find an intel chip i want and go down that path.

Okay. I thought you were asking advice on building a new PC.

Either way, 27" is fucking awful for 1080p. 1440p is a lot better at that size.

Doesn't bother me an awful lot. More room to code and I'm happy, lol.

muh system

dude, quit replying to trolls

...

Not even a troll but k

you need better storage, but otherwise good. next you should buy a 3TB HGST

got a home built nas with 9tb worth of storage in raid 5, im good for storageee

Waiting on another case fan before moving some guts around for better airflow to OC.

Nice tempts.
