At least you can survive with the money you earn. We are on the verge of poverty, 300$ a month, the rent is 150$ and with the rest you pay bills, which are another 100$ and then you can only cynically laugh at the money you have left

That's how it is here too and most places.

Rent is half of my monthly wages, and bills and food eat into most of the rest. The only reason I have money in my bank account is because I'm a friendless loser that doesn't go out or own a car. If I had a car I'd be bankrupt and I work 5 dollars above minimum wage full time which is considered "good".

My point was that you cannot eat with the money you have left, you would last only a week or maybe 10 days if you stretch it. I mean, I have a job and am living alone for years now, but I still have to go to my parents to eat because I can't pay for my own food

Since I'm above minimum wage I can afford to cook up my own stuff or buy food while at work but my parents bring me meat when they visit to help out. I've started eating more greens since it's actually cheaper than breads and meats.

One word: grandparents. Even if you get married, guess what? You still can't live alone, most of the people who get married live with parents (either his or hers) or near them for years before they move away, so they get free child care, sort of. They also help with money, because if not, 80% of Serbia would be in debt, either to banks or loan sharks.

Food is not overpriced, we have a really good agriculture, the wage is too low and because people are poor, many work without being reported to the government (because of unemployment), which gives their bosses power to give them even less money. Those who are reported still get pathetic money, as you can see from my example.

Some of their States don't have minimum wages, or have wages so low that you can't live off it so the illegals take over and keep things shitty. It also creates industries where all the workers might not speak English, which no native worker wants to deal with.

More developed countries have lower birth rates; in dirt poor shitholes and second world industrial nations children are assets who can work in factories and in farms.

In developed nations, however, children are much more of a burden. Having a child in Japan means no working.

It wouldn't. Once the crisis settles in, everything would change.
Scarce labor would be more expensive. Competition for jobs would shift from the supply of workers to the demand by companies and labor would become more expensive as a result, and with more money to spare by work time people can have more time for family.

Of course, I'm not saying a shrinking population is good, those things I mentioned above will only be after they get past the inevitable social security crisis, which should be showing its ugly effects in 20 years give or take.
