NOOOOOOOO

what the fuck can you even do with 24 cores

compile gentoo in 15 seconds?

itll be $2000

Nice housefire

>The 24-core chip will go, in many cases, into monster performer four- to eight-socket servers. An eight-socket system could have up to 192 cores, with support for up to 24TB of memory.

>In a data sheet, Intel estimated a 192-core system with 2TB of memory and two hard drives to be priced at about US$165,000.

GOOD GOYS

>The 24-core Xeon E7-8890 v4 has a frequency of 2.2GHz, 60MB of cache, and draws 165 watts of power.

>165 watts

This is almost FX-9590 levels of housefire

>165W

Try $5000

>The 24-core Xeon E7-8890 v4 has a frequency of 2.2GHz, 60MB of cache, and draws 165 watts of power.
>ADD MOAR RING BUSES :DDD

>server shit

oh wow it's not like naples is a thing

Kek kek
t. IBM,ORACLE

Naples has more cores, more cache, more Hz.
not sure about max memory or TDP.

More memory and lower TDP

>2.2GHz

Will gaymen bash it for shit single thread performance?

there's no way this will have any household use. It'll only be for servers

Naples is going to run circles around this shitshow.

SURE.

pcworld.com/article/3158919/servers/amd-talks-tough-as-it-drums-up-support-for-32-core-zen-server-chip.html

ur fuqd dood

Server stuff
Our SQL servers have 40+ cores each

>28-core chip
>2.50 GHz
>205W

Looks like Intel was nostalgic for the days of Netburst.

Now intel is playing MOAR CORES too ? Plus Housefire

>SQL
Grandpa, stop living in the past and switch to CouchDB

They're server chips. Of course Sup Forums doesn't actually know anything about enterprise hardware.

wonder if this thing or Naples will be cooler or hotter than erupting Vesuvius

>CouchDB
>Other features include document-level ACID semantics with eventual consistency,
>eventual consistency
>eventual
>in a database
Enjoy your silent data loss every time an outage happens

Naples is actually rumored to run quite cool. Ryzen already has lower TDP than Intels i7

Fuck me thats almost as bad as Mongodb

>2012
AHAAHAHAHAHAH MOAR COARZ KEKS GOT BTFO TOP LEL
>2017
AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA 224 COARZ AMD ABSOLUTELYY BTFO WE GOT
>mfw they arent even top coarz

WHY IN GOD'S NAME ISN'T THERE A DUAL CORE 6 GHz WHATEVER INSTEAD OF THIS STUPID COARZ BULLSHIT

FUCK INTEL
FUCK AMD

ANYONE WHO BUYS THIS SHIT IS A FUCKING RETARD

>this absolute trash piece of shit is better just because it's newer
fuck you

>Ryzen is FINISHED
>Actually 10 times the price

oh ok i hat amd now.

>6 million niggacores.jpg

checked hard

more cores has always been better
there's a reason they didn't stop at 2

>DUAL CORE 6 GHz
Because the laws of physics *blocks ur path*

>192 cores

that's as many as a 550Ti

Ryzen was designed as a server CPU architecture first. The desktop version is really just scaled down enormously. Naples is going to be amazing in the server room.

Yeah except they're not in 32 wide two way MIMD cells, and they can do more than simplistic math operations.

If intel comes out and tries to advertise as a gaming CPU then yes.

What are you even doing here man? You don't know anything about this, clearly, so why are you posting in a thread about a topic you know nothing of?

Yeah but can you explain why they stopped at 4?

one core for every hour in each day sitting at my computer

get ready to be shilled by ryzen fanboys

Diminishing returns. For average desktop usage, It's always better to have few strong cores than gorillion weak ones.Jusk look at iphones.

>june 6, 2016

Try $7174, rather. Source: ark.intel.com/products/93790

Why bother with 24 cores when less than half of programs today still don't use more than 1 core?

Software dev hasn't caught up. Thanks to the C family, multithreading is harder than it needs to be. Concurrency is a bitch of a programming model for most pajeets too. When Java does nice concurrency you'll see it used more often

It is only about 7 W per core, though.

Can you retards at least keep to shitposting in desktop CPU threads?

...

wtf i love intel now

WHERE IS THE 128-BIT OR 256-BIT CONSUMER DESKTOP PROCESSORS ??

FUCK EVERYONE !!!

ANYONE WHO BUYS THIS SHIT IS A FUCKING RETARD

Only 24 cores? It's 2017.

MOAR COREZ, MOAR JIGGAHURZ, MOAR BIBELINES

Can anyone explain to me why not all processes aren't multi-threaded yet?

what do you need multi threads for? stupid goy
you'll get what we- I mean they put out

All adds up to one giant house fire, user.

It's certainly better than the corresponding 285 W for running enough Ryzens to get the same core count, however.

...

>Jun 6, 2016

Intel is releasing a 28 core with with Skylake-EX in Q2, and AMD is releasing a 32 core with Naples in Q2

See this thread for some actual discussion

If you think Ryzen draws 95W at only ~2.2 GHz, you're out of your mind.

You do realize that an 8-core ryzen chip is capable of only using ~45 watts under load, right?

That's like 12 intel 2GHz cores right there so 95W for a 16-core ryzen @ 3GHz.

Things don't look good for intel desu. This is coming from a harcore intelfag that's about to sell his 7700K and get a 1700X btw.

>only 3300Mhz
The 32 core server chips will top out at 2.7-3.0

>That's like 12 intel 2GHz cores
How retarded are you, exactly?

>This is coming from a harcore intelfag that's about to sell his 7700K and get a 1700X btw.

Do it, I just bought a 1700x. The thing that sold me on AMD was when I figured out that the reason my 3570k's temps were so trash was because of the TIM meme.

I delidded it, and put new paste on, my temps dropped literally 20C.

fuck intel they can rot.

"oy vey goim the 14nm process prevents us from soldering the chips"
ryzen is 14nm

ryzen ≈ kabylake
1 ryzen core @ 4GHz = 2 kabylake cores @ 2GHz

8 ryzen core @ 3GHz = 12 kabylake cores @ 2GHz

Dual core at 6GHz has the same performance as a quad core at 3GHz in threaded workloads while taking like 400% of the power. Minimum.

This is a pretty good thread, people should really read this if they're interested in server hardware.

warosu.org/g/thread/S59249128
warosu.org/g/thread/59226509

These are also very good (long) threads talking about enterprise and server.

This one too

warosu.org/g/thread/S59227118#p59227118

10,000+

>>warosu.org/g/thread/S59249128
Can you tell me at what point this thread becomes interesting and not endlessly arguing with some braindead shill about how important MUH CLOCKS are

From when the hyperlinks get posted

warosu.org/g/thread/S59249128#p59249660

PRetty much everything after there is smooth sailing, sans the 15 dedicated shitposting gaymer posts.

>what the fuck can you even do with 24 cores
Less than you can do with 32 cores
AYYMD is back in the game folks

>desktop use
>iPhones

Skylake-SP (server) goes up to 205 W TDP.

>this guy slaps an intel 24 core processor on your gf ass
>what do you do ?

Hmmm. I'd say "oh yaweh ! good goy !".

>WHY IN GOD'S NAME ISN'T THERE A DUAL CORE 6 GHz WHATEVER INSTEAD OF THIS STUPID COARZ BULLSHIT
Have you ever heard about things like "physical limit"?

bet it still can't get 90fps with hairworks on in witcher at 4k

AMD is going to do the same for 1/3 the price.

no motherboards could even fit that fucking retarded thing and if they could it would be so expensive no one would buy it

Amada a cute

They already did

>vaporware

Ryzen was already like 2 years behind schedule, and can't even beat Intel cpus that have been on the same process node already for years.

>$7174

With more cores and a lower TDP.

>pulling shit out of your ass
Into le trash with your uninformed opinions.

>take two 1800x's
>weld them together
>underclock and undervolt them

woooooooooow its so innovative

Welcome to good architectures

top kek, is this what intelfags actually believe?

OY VEY!

>Ryzen was already like 2 years behind schedule
I see you know absolutely nothing about CPU architecture development cycles.

Why don't you tell me how long it took for Intel to get Core to the market once they started working on it?

Yes, Ryzen has nearly perfect scaling with increased core counts.

Its achilles heel is its voltage scaling with frequency, the sweet spot is like 2.1GHz to 3.3 GHz and Naples will fall perfectly in there.

Excellent goy.

It's okay, Shlomo. You'll get us back when you post another BLACKED thread on Sup Forums.

>god damnit, Naples beat the fuck out of us
>>what do we do???
>how about a giant novelty processor?
Wew. THIS is their solution to Naples? Just make a jumbo fucking processor? inb4 8k processor and 3k mobo and jumbo sized RAM to go with it why the fuck not.

((()))

Listen to
Jews are peaceful beings; they'd never hurt anything or anyone.

Intel already charge $7,000 for 4c/8t Xeons clocked at 3.3GHz they are beyond any form of shame

And here I am still with a Core 2 Duo...
