I'm finding all the replies in this thread fairly humorous. It's almost as if you lot have never sought jobs that aren't indie startups with your friends or coffee shops.

HR is the worst department of any company. Very rarely does HR have a fluid coagulation with the rest of the team, or even do their jobs properly. Bosses too pussy or ignorant to fix HR as well.

It's an incredibly frustrating feeling having to deal with HR - avoid at all costs. They are not humans.

I work in a conaulting company and as we get a new website, new employeepictures are taken

For the new ones we make 4-6 professional ones and then a short gif for mouseover where we show something that represents our hobby

any decent company will have technical people interview you. HR should only be involved in the initial contact and offer negotiations
